  1. I had another go at riding T3 on July 5th, and that I did, 4 times! For my first lap (about 35 minute wait), I opted for my usual row of choice when I remembered it as T2, which was the back but one row forward. Safe to say the ride was very enjoyable! The ride shuffles your body around quite a bit, but it felt more like an enjoyable kind of shuffling (if you're okay with that...). Apart form that, it's smooth and free of any pain! I hopped back in line to give the front row a try. The extra-length queue for the front row came to be about 50 extra minutes (when it was filled all the way). Took a total of 1 hour 20 minutes to get through it all. Unfortunately, the very-front row offered a less pleasurable experience for me with the feeling of getting a few swift jabs to the lap... Nonetheless, I will say I survived it with no headaches or major pains. For the last two rides, I sat in the very back row, and still got a fairly kick-a$$ experience out of it. Even folks in line who remembered the experience of old T2 mentioned that the new trains were a huge improvement. The new trains did a TREMENDOUS job in making the coaster far more tolerable than it used to be! I can also 100% confirm that it was done by KumbaK due to the fact a guy with a collared-shirt that had the KumbaK logo on it was on his laptop in the station occasionally watching and making adjustments to it throughout the day. The only "decent" photo from the day.
  2. I may or may not have tried to make a brief trip to the park today to see if I could ride it... Turned into a huge flop as they couldn't get it open to the public until closer to the end of the day thanks to the large downpour we had today. I couldn't stick around that late, so I left. I did see ride operators and maintenance workers make multiple laps around and survive it (even larger-sized workers). A park fan on Instagram who waited it out and got on says it's fairly smooth and enjoyable. Any planning on going sometime this weekend, get to the park early (or don't go at all, considering it's a holiday weekend...). They're still running one train, so it's bound to be a lengthy wait until the second one arrives someday.
  3. It's the lowest hanging fruit to pay attention to until we can start totally focusing on Twisted Twins' makeover. Also exactly because of what undercoverunicorn13 said.
  4. The microphone picked up the lift motor really easily, it's actually relatively quiet. FAR quieter than Lightning Run's lift, lol. They were sitting recovering in the station next to the load/unload platform. Meanwhile, I saw someone on Facebook mention that they may have seen actual people try it earlier in the day. Vekomas tend to look smooth from a distance.
  5. Was ironically in town and had a couple of hours to kill, so I stopped by the park.
  6. ^That looks like it's straight out of a cartoon or Something! Looks amazing! I can confirm the Go-Kart place having one. I also saw one at Thunder Over Louisville many years ago as a kid, but wasn't allowed to ride it. I haven't seen that one since. I'm also pretty sure NASA, either at Kennedy Space Center or Huntsville Space Center, keeps up with theirs for training and camps.
  7. Looks like an upgraded RCT3, and I don't mean that negatively at all. Definitely better than what was before, like they said.
  8. It's never too late to try out coasters, including the bigger ones! I'd push aside any doubts you might have and go ahead on giving Silver Bullet a try. I personally haven't been on it, but I've heard from many reviews that it is actually one of the slightly tamer versions of a Bolliger & Mabillard inverted coaster. Compared to many of the coasters you listed, I think it's also much smoother. And if you can ride Sierra Sidewinder and not barf, I'm sure you could easily stomach Silver Bullet. If you still want to ease into riding a coaster that goes upside-down, maybe give Montezuma's Revenge a try since it has only one loop (though taken twice in both directions). Hope you get to trying bigger and badder rides eventually! Good luck!
  9. ^It seems harsh in some pictures, but the green of the trees around it balances it out sorta. Hopefully they'll make an announcement via Social Media (and maybe newspaper) before this weekend, and watch people flock to the park just to ride it. I'm crossing my fingers for this weekend as well.
  10. I sorta follow this on busy days: If you plan to arrive right when the park opens, you can probably sneak a ride or two on Cyclos with minimal lines. Other than that make the water park (and the back-half of the park) your first priority. Most slides are walk-ons within the first 2-3 hours the park is open, especially Deep Water Dive. If you return to the front-half around 2pm-3pm, most folks will have moved towards the back-half and be in the water park. If you're staying until close, know that the most popular rides start closing within the last hour of operations (i.e. Cyclos: 1 hour before close; Lightning Run: 30 minutes before close). Now, if the day isn't crowded and you're not waiting 30+ minutes for most rides (especially if they're walk-ons), then I'm sure you'll have plenty of time for re-rides on a couple of major attractions. --- A couple notes from a visit I had today. -The threat of rain all morning kept queues at walk-ons early in the day and still short lines the rest of the day! This left me the ability to ride Cyclos 3 times back-to-back before tackling virtually the entire park, with plenty of re-rides on my favorites! -Cyclos is now my personal favorite ride in the park. Yes, above Lightning Run. -T3's train sits fully in the station without a cable holding it back, and most of the the new brakes were installed, and they were working on the rest. -Looking from Mile High Falls, I saw all track connecting to the station of Twisted Twins were indeed torn-out. Brake sections, pre-lift section, and the supports to those parts. I looked around for steel (even driving by that corner after leaving) and didn't see any steel, other than large pieces that looked to have been torn from the ride... did I miss something? -Enterprise is starting to frighten me a little. The ride shakes and rattles a lot and doesn't get enough speed to keep the carriages from swinging quite a bit when it is rising and lowering.
  11. I think it's very natural for it to happen to some folks, especially if you're doing parks/rides back-to-back on low crowd days just to gain credits. It's the kind of question that pops in my head whenever I think about those who travel the world to ride coasters for a living. I know I'd become jaded if I didn't give myself plenty of time in between amusement parks for non-park stuff. I've had my fair share of becoming jaded for rides, even recently. The best rides I've ever had on Banshee was my first after standing in a 5-hour line on opening day, and recently one particularly cool early-morning ride during Coasterstock. Every other ride I've had on it has been alright, but not as great as those two. It might be partially because I've visited the park on a light Sunday last October and rode it 12 times non-consecutively throughout the day, so I just got used to it.
  12. ^I really do love the fact they're referencing real rides. I'm interested to see how much more current rides they put in. http://planetcoaster.com/ For those who can't render it properly.
  13. I'll rate what I know: The first trailer for Planet Coaster was much better-produced than any of the trailers done for RCTW. (The end scene was adorable as well!) I'm very glad to see Frontier still doing coaster games! Now we can get to see how much of the RCT franchise was of their doing. Considering the mobile app that they made (Coaster Crazy) compared to Atari's RCT4 Mobile, I'll bet anything that this might have a bit more promise in it than RCTW... still, we'll have to wait until gameplay footage.
  14. Why, exactly? HW is still in a different league than KK. An RMC will be an awesome addition to KK, but HW has nothing to worry about. People aren't going to ditch their plans to go to HW to go to KK, if anything they'll just make plans to stop by KK as well. Indeed. Holiday World is a few leagues ahead of Kentucky Kingdom in terms of overall park experience (and size, even when you're not including the available expansion spaces). They'll be comfortably ahead for a while. Actually I was talking about them also being able to use it to hide the Hellevator site, but now... I found one of MY uses for the fountain. UNDERCOVER UNICORN PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS: FRIENDS, wait for it.... AT KENTUCKY KINGDOM (Am I crossing TV series?) How cool would that be? The fountain and hellevator were there at the same time. The fountain kind of wrapped around it as you come in the park. I think the flutterfly is there now. This RMC hype is reaching critical mass. Lots many rumors from so many directions; I'd be surprised if it doesn't happen at this point. They have one ride designed by ride centerline and one retracked by RMC, so it would make sense that these guys are involved here. It would be so huge for KK. No park near KK is likely to get one anytime soon (or anything like it for that matter), so It will really give them something to advertise. I'd be a little worried if I were Holiday World. KI, will always be in another league, but KK and HW are competing for a lot of the same people now. The more I hear about it, the more I'm starting to believe this could very well be them. Knowing they already have relations with them and could get them an I-box coaster could definitely help set the park as a very unique destination worth stopping by compared to the others parks in the region. Hopefully what Ed had told me stays true that we hear an official announcement about it sometime next month. Also, bonus points to the park for finally getting construction work started this early on a major attraction.
  15. Nothing to the likes of, say, Banshee. But the forces are very much present!
  16. I had mid to high expectations for Thunderbird before going into Holiwood Nights to try it for the first time, and it absolutely exceeded them! The launch and the elements were all quite forceful, and the roll at the end was super sweet! Every single seat gives a totally different experience (my favorite ended up being the back right, outside seat). Even though the ride isn't the fastest of all the wing-riders, the closeness of the trees give a MUCH better sensation of speed both on and off the ride. I'm a big fan of rides (and parks) with theming, so it was also great seeing how much theming was put into ride and the surrounding plaza it sits in. Thunderbird sits somewhere within my top 15 favorite coasters. Having ridden both this and Gatekeeper, I feel comfortable jumping on the bandwagon with others in saying that I enjoyed Thunderbird much more (though, I do still think Gatekeeper is a fun coaster as well). Also, those nights rides were almost unreal. Seeing it glow from off-ride as it flew past the trees made it look like a flying saucer was invading Voyage! After having 15 rides on it total, my mind still has a hard time believing it's at Holiday World. Coming to that area feels like stepping into a totally different park! Some of you guys probably already saw this in the Holiwood Nights thread.
  17. ^To add to that: How do you know what's your source? There was definitely only one train on the track that day. It could be the case of what A.J. said, but I guess we'll just have to see.
  18. How is it compared to the Penguins Blizzard River. It was in my top 2 Rapids Rides (Tied with Rapids at Hersheypark RIP) If it was in your top-tier for the theming, then I think you're in luck. Six Flags removed just enough DC Penguin theming for KK to not get sued. Raging Rapids River Ride is indeed the most heavily themed ride in the park, which is almost quite alien for the park come to think of it. It has quite a good length to it too! Biggest downside is that it is in need of more rafts, and by then probably some more employees to help with bringing it to "people-eater" status because it looks like it has the potential (I think I counted 4 or 5 rafts). The line was at a standstill most of the time, before moving forward a couple of feet every now and then... It wasn't in my top for Theming, But for getting you Soaked. Oh. You're guaranteed to get wet on it thanks to lots of spray elements, not with as much soakage as Mile High Falls though. This should give some context as to what I mean. It never really came up. I figured I'd take the word of the staffer at the entrance who said it just needed to be inspected by the state. Speaking of which, I had also forgotten to upload the pics I took of T3 with what I could see of the new trains.

We spoke for a bit, before he mentioned that he had a special announcement to make sometime in July about the future of the park and what ride Twisted Twins is going to be. He did confirm that it should be pieced into one big ride and that work for it has already gone underway, so that is something to definitely look forward to!
  20. You see people react to a ride they've never ridden or seen operate before, and try your best not to tell them you've been on it one million times already.
  21. There were some mechanics looking at the ride when I passed by. A woman stationed outside the ride said management needs the state to come inspect it before it can open to the public. Theres a possibility it could open up anytime this coming week. Apart from that, I'm currently in a full queue for the River Rapids Ride. Very popular (though slow moving) ride on this boilling hot day.
  22. Rapture Shot Tower? "Dante's Inferno" underground dive coaster.
  23. Beats me, but a very similar thing operates at Wiener Prater park in Vienna as "Tornado."
  24. Strongest park photos of this summer, thus far... Cyclos by Marcus Dorsey, on Flickr Diamondback by Marcus Dorsey, on Flickr Thunderbird by Marcus Dorsey, on Flickr
