Very tiny NL2 pet peeve of mine: To those who build and perfect one coaster in NL2, then decide to build a second coaster to act as "decoration," please spend time to make said second coaster somewhat decent. It hurts to see a smoother, better flowing, and highly detailed coaster be accompanied by something that looked to have been slapped together in 30 minutes just to look good from a distance. I take the time to ride and rate those coasters too, 'ya know. Just saying.

Lightning Rod Media Day
Midgetman82 replied to ernierocker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looked like a wonderful media announcement! I can't wait to see more progress on this magnificent woodie! -
I've been listening to Green Day since high school. Still do.

^I felt a bit of jealousy over how well-produced theirs was, haha. Nonetheless, as dwarfed as Storm Chaser may be compared to Lightning Rod, the coasters themselves should stand-out at each park respectively. The whole east coast/midwest is just swarming with RMC's of all sizes! Someone could almost do a whole road-trip based purely off of attempting to ride each of them within a year (minus Twisted Colossus, unless they're REALLY desperate).

Proslides two new waterslide concepts
Midgetman82 replied to VelikiBrat's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks like it, likely a slightly different approach to the traditional "master blaster" type of slide. If I'm not mistaken, ProSlide's uphill water slides have been exclusively LIM-powered up to this point. They started with conveyor belts (Typhoon at Hurricane Harbor/Six Flags New England), then did LIM's and haven't looked back since. Proslide's take on master blaster looks smoother considering riders aren't going over an uncomfortable slit in the slide surface where the water blasts out of, and the nozzles are aligned all the way up the hill. They mentioned that the slide looks similar to a ski slalom, but all I see is a 3-man bobsleigh attraction. Blizzard Beach should jump on this, asap! -
The "perfect" roller coaster
Midgetman82 replied to LiftThrill's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My image of a "perfect" roller coaster would be something that isn't balls-to-the-wall insane but a super thrilling ride that the most amount of people can enjoy (i.e. little kids, teens, adults, and even some older generations who can't handle "insane"). Many aspects of Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens Tampa comes to mind. Long, twisting, does at least one inversion, has airtime, has launches, great theming, extremely re-rideable, etc. Though something just a little more intense would be better suited as a perfect coaster, something vaguely similar to how Cheetah Hunt performs would be my image. Now for MY version of an intense perfect roller coaster, I'm not sure what it's complete layout would be but it would have to include the following: A launch, a high-speed low to the ground double barrel roll section similar to the , a tunnel or two, a mixture of ejector and floater airtime hills, and the ride comes flying into the brake run. -
Those Boomerango slides, while exciting, are really short one trick ponies in my opinion. Still, it's neat to finally see Royal joining the race in implementing slides on their ships. Royal Caribbean mentioned on Twitter that they were going to include a 10 story tall "water slide," which had me confused a little. As for the aesthetics of implementing any slides on-board a ship, I don't think there's much of an easy way to plant a big water slide on a cruise ship without making it look less amazing. Most people probably won't even care for what the ship looks like off-board, as long as they can have a great time onboard. Besides that, what right-minded kid wouldn't want to go down a brightly lit super slide like these?

If Pringles count, those. Otherwise, most Chef Boyardee pasta.

Donald (I messed up a few times. You guys need to stop updating so quickly. )

Well, there were recent renderings of the supposed design of the slide splashed in some odd places. First spotted on Instagram, then on Norwegian version of Royal Caribbean's website. By the looks of it, it doesn't look like a waterslide but more of a dry spiral slide. Like a really tall Wiegand dry slide. Only reason I say that is because that steep of a spiral for a water slide that tall would be deadly.

I'm so sick of Instagram. There had been numerous times I've seen my own photos reposted to many other people's accounts, some even taking credit for capturing said photo(s). Then there are those who re-post photos/video of something hard to find or not found anywhere else, and refuse to tell where they found it... It get's even crazier when legitimate sources credit THAT account as the main source for the image/video when they're not the ones who actually own it...

Moser Spring Ride?

They definitely don't produce zero-g's, but they've oddly enough been the ones to actually give me butterflies in my stomach. -

So very true! The person below me is visiting a park within the next 14 days.

I'm bummed that I never got to go Snowboarding this past winter AT ALL. I'm probably gonna make up for it by splurging on my university's annual ski trip for a second time to another major resort this upcoming winter.

Drop Towers On Buildings?
Midgetman82 replied to canadianparkfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I always figured the same thing. To me, a gyro drop tower always felt less intense compared to a Intmain 2nd gen 4-seater (or any Larson/ARM tower). The only downside is that a 4-seater would not be suitable for a park that would need something with much higher capacity (hence Zumanjaro being three parallel towers seating 8 each). -
Questionable coaster elements
Midgetman82 replied to Password121's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Where is that abomination? It is in Mexico. Sadly it's not running as of earlier this year, I'd totally ride it. Sorry a bit OT but I just have to leave this one here.... That track looks vaguely similar to the legendary Orphan Rocker, which also classifies for this thread imo... anyone think this was done by the same company, whoever it was? And regarding that POV... ow. Edit: O.R. was built by this guy apparently: http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/topic/2747-orphan-rocker/?do=findComment&comment=86281 -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I finally read the article, and it was a wonderful highlight of the park's previous few years and peek into what may be ahead! It's been very interesting to see the park grow to what it is, and by the size that it is now I find it funny that I almost keep forgetting that it is indeed a family-owned park! I still can't wait to see what there may be in the future! (Anything that involves the use of air conditioning is already a win by me! ) One thing that especially stuck out to me (and deserved an applause) was this part about the park's free drinks: I can understand that it would be a big risk for any park to offer complimentary beverages, but it's always one of the most talked-about thing I hear whenever anybody I know brings up Holiday World. The bolded part especially got to me because there's plenty of parks out there that leave very bad vibes when a guest, who had already pulled their wallet out to pay for admission, notices that they had continuously pulled their wallet throughout the day thanks to the plethora of cash-grabs (i.e.: mandatory lockers, numerous up-charge attractions, drinks, etc). Edit: In addition to that, the section involving the colors of the coaster. I know there was a lot of debate from enthusiasts as well over whether the colors were a good choice for the ride. After visiting the park during its halloween season last year, it was made clear that it was probably the best choice of colors for the ride: I'm anxious to visit the park again this fall, because it looks gorgeous then! -
^Someone's gotta come up with the concept before it can be perfected. I applaud both for attempting something new and not copy-pasted in various forms and angles at different parks. On the flip side, I do think it would have been smarter to hold off on selling any of these to redesign a better capsule.

Smooth? Not something I'd expect from this thing, but I'll take your word on it. The video about it puts me on the edge for many of the same reasons listed from others... but the creator(s), the German TV guy, and you have survived it. That's enough for me to give to a try, as terrified as I may be.

What is your next park?
Midgetman82 replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kentucky Kingdom sometime this week. No surprise there. -
I'm kinda wishing this was made a bigger deal, because I had heard about it just a couple of days ago... like, wouldn't 10 stories put it as one of the (if not THE) tallest water slide on a cruise ship? And I wonder if they mean 10 "decks" tall or 10 "true" stories tall? I do wish there was more info on this than just a vague blurb.
