An Odd Noise on Medusa
Tmcdllr replied to atem122's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It must just be coincidence you feel a bump in the Zero G exactly where the noise happens. -

The more I go back and re-'look' at your trip reports and photos the more enjoyable they become. I like the perspective you have and some of the pics and comments are really funny. I look forward to a photo trip report from Disneyland or Cedar Point, and you have to bring back the find the ducky game in them too- make it harder and maybe offer some kind of crappy prize or something...lol. Thanks again Bebes -

An Odd Noise on Medusa

But if the rollbacks are spring loaded, then there would have to be some forces acting on them to make them retract and in the Zero G that would mean a downward force as the train goes up. If that were the case, then why doesn't this happen during any of the other 6 inversions? And Scream basically has the same Zero G yet does not do this- why would that be? And when you ride it you CAN feel a bump when it goes over that spot- so it seems track related. -

It's for sure something the wheels are rolling over, you can actually count how many times it makes this noise (the same number of wheel sets) as they run over that spot. When you are on the ride you can feel the little bump going through the Zero G, for as long as it has been doing this, you would think they would do something about it. -

It has done that for years. I believe it's the wheels rolling over a 'questionable' weld where two track pieces meet near the top of the Zero G. You can focus on that one point on the track and as a train passes you'll notice where the wheels 'bump' when they go over that spot. Either a weld or slightly mis-aligned track is causing this, or there is a slight gap between the two track pieces. It's not the anti-rollbacks as there is nothing on that part of the track for them to catch on. -

....LOL What does that mean anyway? -
I just watched the first one. I found it to be strange, funny, perplexing, interesting, and entertaining. Now I must watch more! Wow, impressive.

If you could tear down one coaster
Tmcdllr replied to coasterfreaksrttd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I have to agree with that, Kong is utterly horrible! And I don't like the trains being so long, it's strange. If you sit at either end when you go through an inversion you get this odd feeling of slowing down then catching up. If the trains were shorter it would not be so noticable. Doesn't matter, it still sucks. -

Tearing this one down is too good for it. I would either burn it to the ground or pack it with C4 and then BOOM!!! -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

How about an inverted stand up? Not feet dangling free but something to stand on, like the normal stand up, bicycle seat, etc but in an inverted version. Is that even possible? Forces would not be an issue because the layout could be designed around that but just imagine, standing under the track! I think that would be wild! -

The information aspect of it is good and maybe it's a good resource for newbies but come on, you have to admit it is silly. What's wrong with having a little fun with it? What's strange is it almost seems like some of the posts are artificial, made by people planted on the forum as members, -

That is just completely sad. What challenge? To ride a rollercoaster? "I am a ride warrior because I rode the rollercoasters the most"- compared to what, not riding at all? The most compared to who? Big deal. But that name just screams 'please kick the crap out of me' all over it. Maybe I'll join the forum just to see how much crap I can talk to them before I get banned......sounds like fun! -
