Whoa! This thing reminds me of Triple Play that used to be at CGA except faster. -
Over The Shoulder Restraints. (OTSRs)

YES! That would be a good 50th birthday present, our at least part of one. I know they can't justify the expense of doing that but if I had another million dollars I would totally pay for the conversion and the removal of the trims, it would totally be worth it! Yes... but then park managment will have to come up with a new "April Fools Joke" at West Coast Bash next year. I've never attended, what is the joke? -

I don't like them either, but as stated I believe California and maybe some other states require them. And what Robb said makes a lot of sense too. If a park already has OTSRs and they work just fine they are not going to replace them simply because that big of an expense would be used for something that needs it more. Besides Tatsu, the most comfortable OTSR I never felt was on Invertigo, lots of cushy padding and that isn't exactly the smoothest coaster out there. I remember riding Tidal Wave and Revolution with lap bars only when I was a kid, it was so awesome...so free. I really miss that. I still ride Revolution because I love that coaster, but the OTSRs it has don't make sense as they are very high and don't seem to do much except cause pain. If it were at all feasable for the park financially, I would love to at least see newer style, almost Tatsu-like softer, closer fitting more comfortable restraints, but that will never happen. -
Working with Intamin could mean nothing more than a slight modification or something as BIG as a completely different ride, or it could have nothing to do with S:TE. Who knows, it could mean working on a giant Intamin coaster for somewhere else in the park for the future, or even a drop ride, finally. Nothing is impossible and nothing is confirmed. As for the article, of all the concerns on the list, fire, flood, sewage and other major really bad things that could happen, my favorite was about the library. Nevermind the fires or mudslides or nasty sewage stench because omg the library will be over crowded...lol.

[coastertube] WE[/coastertube] Ha! What a silly idea. They would never do anything like that. ...or would they? Would this really be considered as a BIG thing, or does BIG refer to the size of the ride or how much different it will be? Its funny that Robb said that in sort of an intriguing kind of way like there is something really to this backwards idea or it is just so silly (or makes too much sense) that they would never do something obvious like that. Don't know but its fun to guess!

I would bet the mechanics heard it as well and hopefully took care of it, I don't think they would let something like that (or anything) go, although as I mentioned I have ridden it with a flat wheel before, but not working on these I don't know if that warrants serious attention. I would hate to see it go down again but it seems fine now and that's good, I have been waiting for a year to ride it and can't wait to.

Actually, on old wood lanes the hook line is a groove worn into the finish on the lane from years of use, it doesn't change much except the balls pick up the oil and carry it down. On synthetics, the oil gets pushed all over the place and picked up by balls, but because the surface does not wear if at all, the 'shot' changes more drastically. This change, normally is not as drastic on wood. Yes, I have worked in this field for 20 years.

It was mentioned they were still working out some bugs but maybe it was stopped for something else. I find it interesting you were there the same day as the video yet you didn't hear it, which you would have for sure. So that means either it was a one time thing or it was fixed before you were listening to it, or, maybe the noise in the video was faked, not impossible. But I just think unless you are deaf, since you were there, it would have been something you could not miss. Hmm... I don't know.

I agree. This is not the normal squeaking, clicking, clanking noise it makes, I'm still thinking it sounds like its hitting something. But its gone now? So it got fixed or just magically went away. I hope it got fixed because then at least they knew what it was rather than it just dissappearing and not knowing what the cause was which obviously would be a concern. I'm curious to know what it was in the first place. I've ridden that thing many many times over the years and heard all kinds of strange "normal" noises it makes, even rode it with a flat sided wheel, you can imagine what that was like, thump thump thump thump thump, but never have I heard anything like this. Kind of sounds like a loose metal cover clanking around. Its fixed now so good.
