  1. Thanks for the great response, so far! Elissa, you must know best after your walk behind the scenes! By the way, you look great in the rain coat , did you take one home for some bedroom games with Robb I normally did take those panorama by my HD-Cam and a PC, but like you said, I found a great app for panorama pictures. I now use my iPhone 4 with the "Autostitch"-App by Cloudburst Research it´s really an great app. You have to keep an eye on the pixel size, in what the picture will be saved. Some apps reduze the pixelrate and don´t keep the original pixelsize - this app keeps the size of every picture, so you get a very large picture with rates above the normal pixelrate of one picture. And it stitches in a very good quality, don´t have many mistakes with this app. I shoot at first the pics with the normal iPhone camera app (with HDR on) and use after that the programm with the before taken pics. Holger "who really thinks he should have planed the Trip by Elissa, because they visit places, I never heard about in the VAE region, but enjoyed what he planed, too"
  2. Hey Larry, finally I finished my first Photo TR of my last Abu Dhabi / Dubai Trip. It contains many pictures of Ferrari World. Feel free to use them for the Park Index! I will post a Parkmap later, too. Here is the link
  3. Fiorano GT is defenitive a Family Coaster and it looks much slower and boring in the videos than it really is. It´s just a nice cruise for coaster enthusiasts, but I´m sure in a group you can have great fun on it. I personally enjoyed every ride. But there´s no thrilling element. You start with a launch up to 100kmh - but it don´t feel that fast - than you have some turns and came into a brake section, another turn, than comes the next launch. Same happens another two times. Because of the layout, you have the feeling of a duelling race with the second coaster. (I know, it´s a bad description, sorry) What I didn´t like is that they built the curves a little bit like a Wild Mouse, so that you get smashed against the chassis and for an adult it means your rips get a punch every time Hope my description was understandable But I guess kids would like this coaster and it´s a nice concept. I´m not sure, but I think KidTums would ride it
  4. Ok, I reached the maximum limit for the photos, let´s go on with Ferrari World. Back to the main plot in the late afternoon, we were a little bit hungry and decided to use our VIP-Suite included in the VIP/Fastpass Tickets. It seems that they weren´t ready with the suite and have to improve, Because we could use the Presidential Suite, wohoo! You had a nice view into the park over there and... ...free drinks and food (snacks, but also handmade snacks) how often you want. (Hey Divv, they have Doritos there, too ) Let´s go to "Scuderia Challenge" There are a lot of Racing Simulators in a row. And as a bonus for the VIP-Tickets you can drive in real Ferraris like this one without a charge I did choose this one... ...it´s not like driving a real car, but... ...you can race for 5 minutes around the simulated Yas Marina Circuit for free and don´t have to pay for any damage Next to it is "The Paddock" (sadly it wasn´t opened) And "The Pitwall", guess what I have to write next Yes... not opened at this day "Junior GP" Junior GT "Carousel" Last but not least the Parkmap: This Parkmap looks and feels exclusive
  5. Finally I finished my preparations for this PhotoTR. Sorry that it´s so late, but on the other side we get filled the Off-Season I made a Trip to Abu Dhabi and Dubai from Nov. 29th - Dec. 06th. I had some rest days off work and have to take these days in this time. At first I thought I will do a journey to the lovely british Lou, but she had already planed a trip to some of you american guys, so that no german has a chance I had to find another beauty and thought, Ferraris, Pasta and oriental heat aren´t really comparable, but would fill the gap and there are other things I ever wanted to discover! So I decided to visit Abu Dhabi and Dubai. When my mom did hear about that, she said - joking - I would like to join this Trip, but never believed that she will I hadn´t been on a journey with her since I was a child and knew what a joy I would make her with this Trip, so I invited her to come with me. That´s a thing I ever planed to do, but put on hold for later in my life, but I won´t do the mistake again and miss the chance for that, like with my dad! I thought I will try to make this journey unforgetable for us and invited her to all activities we´ll do (Ferrari World, Wild Wadi, Aquaventure, Malls, Dubai Fountains and Burji Khalifa - and don´t think she wasn´t interested in that by herself). Finally it was a great journey and we both had an unforgetable time, but that wasn´t the first cheap planed Trip for me ----------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: - Wild Wadi Update on page 3 - Aquaventure Update on page 6 - Helikopter Tour and extra Credit on Page 7 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- We arrived on Monday Nov. 29th, so lets start: Yeah, we finally arrive at Abu Dhabi Airport Women and cars <3 Hotel Region at Yas Island (the right one is the ParkInn) Nice hotel... ... room. I was too excited for sleeping, so I had to go for a walk, to have a look at the Ferrari World building I saw from the hotel. Sadly it was Monday and after 10pm: You walk completely next to the Yas Marina Racing Circuit and can see... the beautiful Yas Hotel which is next to and above the F1-Track. Can you see it at the end of the road... There it is... Ferrari World In reality it´s... ...more hughe and beautyful... ...than I expected! That´s the entrance region. Ahhh, Formula Rossa! I will ride you tomorrow, baby! That was a surprise picture for Elissa, who knows that she and Robb would be there at the same time!? While I had a walk completely around the Park - it was a loooong walk in the night and without water - I had to take a picture of Fiorano GT, too. At this evenig the park made tests with some video projections and made sound tests for a show they will present on the next day. I talked to a security staff member, while I watched parts of the show while I stand at an opened door at a side entrance and he told me that this show is a special one for tomorrow, but he didn´t told me what really will happen on the next day... Tuesday Nov.30th.: Whohoo, today I hopefully will ride Formula Rossa! Can´t wait for that. let´s have a walk to Ferrari World... View at the hotel. Yay, only 1km! Look, they´re cleaning the roof... or do they something different!? At first let´s go around the park for some great shots of the park and the coasters... Hey, it´s already 12pm, where are the cars of Fiorano GT? Do they have problems with this ride? Oh, Formula Rossa... but again no train??? Here are the Trims of the first hill and the building for the hydraulic cable winch of the launch section. rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Let´s go to the entrance... Sign nerd Nooooo! At the entrance, the security staff told me, that today the Park is closed for the Grand Opening of Ferrari World in the evening! I was very excited about this news, because they told me there will be a big party and a big firework show with the president of VAE, Ferrari CEOs, the Formula 1 Team of Ferrari and so on. Sadly I didn´t have any invitation On the other side, it killed my plans to drive to Dubai on the next day. Luckily I planed only to change my location on the next day and informed the hotel in Dubai, that I will arrive in the late evening, so I can visit Ferrari World again. But at first, let us see what happened the rest of the day... After a relaxing rest of the day at the hotel I thought, I want to have a look at the Racing Circuit and the Yas Hotel and invite my mom to a restaurant... That was our view out of the restaurant... sadly without any race , but after that I get surprised, cause... ...the meeting point for the Grand Opening Party of Ferrari World was the Yas Hotel. Every invited person get transported to the Ferrari World Park with a Ferrari! So where is my invitation, please ;-( Nice ass! And here is the fireworkshow of the Grand Opening Party: Day 3 (Wednesday Dec. 1st): I finally get into the park... Bridge to the Entrance with great formula 1 racing car sounds (feel the power) and listen to the sound... This building is amazing and there are many cars as decoration and Ferrari Signs GeForce was closed today, because of the Grand Opening Party and some installations overthere from yesterday. Where do you have to go directly, if you´re a firsttimer at Ferrari World??? Yes, the first thing is a ride on Formula Rossa... If it´s possible ;-( Seems that they still have problems with the brakes and the watersystem... I get informed about that at the entrance and they weren´t sure when the ride will open today, so I want to have a look at it by myself between the other rides and they did many launch-tests later. There was a windtunnel model on the way back to an other attraction... and for kids the Junior Training Camp Bella Italia In the background you already can see the tribune of the Grand Opening Show from the last day. Before I forget it, there were some "authentical" italian restaurants, too. (OK, it was good, but not really authentical. Never saw fried pizza pastry in italy, that´s more american pan pizza style???) "Speed of Magic" the 4D Cinema show. That´s for you, Larry. Fiorano GT - the racing Challenge The cars are beautiful small Ferraris Each track has three of this launch sections during the complete track. Here is an offride video of Fiorano GT: Sad but true, V12 was still closed on our visit. They should open it, I love Vallhalla at Pleasure beach so much and so do I if V12 is like it Cinema Maranello Do you need some souvenirs? Or italian coffee and some cookies or cakes? Next attraction "Driving with the Champions" "Galleria Ferrari" ??? Coming Soon... "Flying over Italy" "Ferrari - The Racing Legends" Back at Formula Rossa at 5pm. It´s opened now, yeah. Waiting time in normal line is around 45min - not that long. I got VIP (Fastpass) Tickets, cause I thought the Park were more filled, so I had a short waiting time between 5-10min an first row rides!!! Sexy Trains The Launch was amazing, it feels like a launch after the launch and you got a free face lifting! And really, you do need the goggles to keep your eyes open during the launch in the first row! This time I´m in the 3rd row on the right side I had really great luck to ride Formula Rossa on that day, it breakes often, but they fixed it soon. In the evening I had my last ride including a roll back after the launch and they made a new start. That was exactly the ride, with my mum doing it the first time At first she got a bit afraid, but after it works and we had the ride, she was very excited and loves the ride. Her comment was, that it wasn´t that hard for her, than Troy at Toverland She loved the launch! Hey, and she´s 63! While we leave the park, we could see, that the coaster wasn´t running anymore and it seems that they have problems again. After our holiday I heard, that it was closed for weeks, so it could be that I had the last lucky day to ride it in December
  6. I still wonder where they want to put this "HUGHE" Octopus-Mouth-Thingy . OK, I know where it has to be, but if I look the picture I can´t believe that it´s "HUGHE" like they talked about in the NDR commentary. There is no place to be "HUGHE"! Whatever, I guess it will look nice. Holger "who is disappointed by this short dive coaster, but after all excited to ride it"
  7. Yeah, I guess you are right. That´s what I meant, I´m not an expert in these things. Which manufacturer produces the tracks in Germany? Cause of the word "MARKIERUNG" in this picture - that´s a german word (="tag"). OK, Gerstlauer is selfexplaining. I guess Intamin produces in the Netherlands, right? What´s about Premier Rides, where do they produce tracks?
  8. This article at Coastersandmore talked about a Racing Coaster by INTAMIN for the F1X-Themepark, so if there are no different tracks it must be the track for the Intamin Racing Coaster, which should built the main attraction for the park: That´s not a hundret percent correct translation, but I think it will fit the main meaning: "The F1 Racing Coaster should defenitively be the highlight of F1-X: The track will be compact and near to the ground like a racing track of the Formula 1. The trains should have a duell with a speed up to 100km/h. The LSM LAUNCH COASTER by INTAMIN should have 3 launch sections per track. First Layouts are showing 2 parallel tracks which should give a real experience in two Formula 1 Trains." I didn´t find any layout for that by Intamin, but have to think about a coaster like Fiorano GT Challenge at Ferrari World and the old Cop Car Chase at Movie Park Germany: Fiorano GT (by Maurer & Söhne) matches the pictures and the description I posted above - it has three LSM launch sections, too... On the other side, there were plans for a Gerstlauer Eurofighter and 3 types of rides by Premier Rides, like mentioned by others in that Topic. I´m not a track expert and really confused by these uploaded pics, cause this picture: shows a Gerstlauer Launch Track (comparing to this Gerslauer Track pic:) Could it be that these track pieces are a mix of Gerstlauers Eurofighter and the Intamin Racing Coaster (LSM LAUNCH COASTER)? Or do INTAMIN and GERSTLAUER use similar track pieces?
  9. I totally agree in that and esteem your opinion! Thanks for that Robb, because of that I like your great quality DVDs and Blu-rays! Seriously if only 25 copies I want 1, if you start a preorder link let me know I'll prepay the whole amount. I want one, too
  10. ^^The benefit should be the same as with the ClubTPR. But I guess you´re right, especially because I can´t imagine how much work you all have with the whole page and you can rate that better. I missed the nostalgia section, because the parks I looked for don´t have one - OK and I guess sometimes I didn´t recognize them
  11. I agree in your comment, but I´m annoyed of this concept. I would prefer a new ride with old elements, if it´s a long and impressive ride with a good track than a short ride, only because of one special effect or new ride form. Every ride, which is short and has only one special effect, is boring after a few rides, because the new element isn´t new anymore. Look at the old coasters with long tracks and a good layout, they are still impressive and I would prefer them to the newer ones. So I guess the visitors of the park would come more often to ride a longer coaster, but you won´t get such a publicity with it. So why do we get so often such short new rides in our region? Sad Heidepark wasn´t able to get a longer layout! But besides that, it´s interesting and nice to see, how the Kraken grows up and I´m sure, the themeing would be great.
  12. Wow, that looks interesting and is a great idea. I love to find all these things at one place and it´s good to inform some friends about parks. Especially the idea to put a "nostalgia" section into the index and the advices for the park are great! I have some suggestions: - A KidTums Park Ranking would be great, in dependence on the KidTums Corner of the TPR Magazine. That would be interesting for Families. - Isn´t it possible to mark the parks who give discounts with the ClubTPR Card (not exactly, only that they are in the discount list) for example with a stamp logo or something else That would be a good commercial for being a ClubMember and the Parks (and maybe it´s also a good presentation to get new parks involved into the discountlist) - Same question for a marker which park is in the next TPR Trips but those two last ideas would mean, that it´s very hard, to get the park index up to date. I´m really impressed in your work so far and wonder what else you have in your pocket for the next time. Thought, this side is great and don´t need improvements, but everytime I get impressed by new ideas! I like it.
  13. I found this at TAA Industries: Larry, that was exactly what I thought first Samisthabomb, like George said, 14m don´t have to be lame. If it´s a launch coaster, it don´t need much height and the smalles Layout for Gerstlauers Spinning Coaster begins at a height of 16 meters, the Bobsled´s layout begins at 15 meters. Who knows, what they´re planing so far, but I hope they won´t make the same mistake like Alton Towers did with their great merchandising for Th13teen. By the way, why do they mention Harry Potter? What do you think about that? Is it because of Magic or because of the Coastertype? And what´s about the rest of the discription? EDIT: The Preview page, listed above, made another video upload: And they broke into the secret room, where the model of the coaster is located to upload some pictures for us: http://www.moviepark-preview.de/ http://www.moviepark-preview.de/ http://www.moviepark-preview.de/ http://www.moviepark-preview.de/
  14. This Thread is a good idea! My local park is Phantasialand; it´s around a 45min drive, but Toverland, Moviepark Germany, Schloss Beck are only 20km more far than PH. From the time distance I need max 1 hour to drive, so I can choose between them and some smaller, like Panorama Park, Fort Fun, Kernies Wunderland and, until now still closed, CentrO Park Oberhausen. The great thing about that region is, that you can reach many parks with a little more time. For example: With a 2 hour drive it would be Efteling, Walibi World; with 2 1/2 = Holiday Park, Drievliet and Duinrell That´s a great amount. Sadly the fuel prices are rising
  15. They uploaded very bad quality movie parts on their official preview blog. The story is about 3 people who visit the park and take a short, inofficial and forbidden look behind the scenes. The first 4 parts are only about the park, the real plot begins at video 6. You won´t see anything about the new attraction until now, but who knows how the story will go on. In the last part (7) - until now - the 3 persons get locked by an unknown person into a room of the attraction and it seems they´re not alone... Here are the movies: Youtube Userpage from Talopan On their preview page they also mentioned, that they will post more information about the new Pokemon-Gremlins-Scooby Doo-Twilight-Harry Potter-Cop Car Chase Revival-Coaster!!! So it´s time for us to riddle Besides this page I found an article of "Der Westen". They wrote that the new coaster is planed to open in June and the first of it´s kind "Indoor" Attraction. The costs for this attraction are around 5 Million Euros and it will be 2 minutes long, filled with horror and thrilling effects. The Parkmanager Wouter Dekkers said on the annual closure meeting the attraction will be around 14 meters high, won´t have a looping, but there will be videoeffects, animatronics, it will be bloody and scary and ?emotions like in a movie?; He isn´t sure wether he would recommend it for kids .
  16. I still vote for the yellow version, but prefer to the tagline of the white versions. But the now used white version looks good, too.
  17. There happened something really magical at Rainbow Magicland during the winter / christmas time. See it with your own eyes... www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) www.rainbowmagicland.it ( ) The Park has now it´s own official Facebook page. There I found these great pictures. The Homepage got also some changes. Now, there is a story behind the park and each attraction, they add a nice park map and the attractions got their names. But sadly it´s still not available in english, so I we can´t get the story they made for the park, it seems really interesting and there are nice mascots (WINX Club Elfs and HUNTIK Secret Seekers included) Look here - for the homepage - for the park map (you have to click in the middle of the side) - for the Flicker page - for Twitter page - for Rainbow Magicland Blog The names for the attractions are: "Shock" for the Maurer Launch Coaster "Olandese Volante" for the Vekoma Mine Train "Gran Theatro" for the show theater "Drakkar" for the Rapids "Spillwater" for the Log Flumes / Splash "Dark Ride interactivo" for the interactive Dark Ride "Torre Gaduta" for the 70m high Drop Tower "Castellio di Alfea" for the WINX Castle The name of the Maurer Spinning Coaster is not listed, yet The unofficial Rainbow Magicland Facebook page has many new photos, too! I would post them, but can´t today. All I can say is that the park´s themeing is amazing! Have to go to work now. Maybe some of our italian members can add more concret information about the story and photos for us, that would be great. EDIT: I forgot to mention, that you can see a video of the Maurer Launch Coaster at the "Shock" attraction side!!! You reach it over the park map.
  18. I want to line up... I wish everyone a merry christmas and espacially to Robb, Elissa and Kidtums! I wish you a great and hopefully relaxing family days or with other words a nice christmas time! I hope you´re all feeling well and so much thanks for your great work on your page and the rest of the great stuff, related to TPR and ClubTPR! I´m thankful that I had the chance to be on a Trip with you and the group this year - it was the best time I had since years ago! That was an amzing time with many new friends. You both did and do a great work with this Trips. From now on, I´m sure I will try to do min. one Trip per year, cause it´s the best option to do a great Themepark-Trip through other countries with a huge amount of fun, nice persons and many surprises! I´m looking forward to see you and some other this years Trip participants in Japan next year! Have all great days!
  19. If you look at the park's website, they are closed every Monday. It wasn't because they were getting ready for the opening, that's their normal operating schedule. --Robb That´s right, every Monday is a closed day. I arrived in Abu Dhabi on Monday evening and went for a "short" walk - in reality this building and the area around are so big - to Ferrari World to get some pictures in the night. I get a glimpse from the outside at some opened door for some tests on a video screen and the Security Service told me that it would be for the next day, but didn´t tell me that the Park will have on the next day it´s Grand Opening - I thought it´s for a normal show in this buillding, like the parades in Disney Parks and so on. So I tried to visit the Park on Tuesday, until they told me at the entrance that this day is a closed day only for invited people cause of the Grand Opening, like I wrote in my first post. So Tuesday was the day I talked about. Yas Marina Hotel on the F1 Circuit was the meeting point for all the invented people and some of them get a ride in Ferraries while they were brought to Ferrari World at the other end of the F1 Track. I was there in a Restaurant (Noodle Box) and watched what´s going on there. In the evening I got some shots of the great firework - not comparable to the other fireworks of buildings in that area, but still great to look at. I will try to upload some pictures and video files soon. So my planed visiting day was Tuesday, but because of the Grand Opening I had to wait one more day and was there on Wednesday Dec. 1st, while I already checked out and my next hotel in Dubai had to wait for me
  20. Oh, then I had a really a lucky day! I got many rides last week on Dec. 1st. Formula Rossa wasn´t opened at 12am, but they tried hard to fix the problem and got it at 5pm. Many people I talked to, while watching, what´s happening there had to leave before, cause the most of them had fixed dates for busses and so on. I stayed there until the end at 10pm and got many rides, but it brakes down a lot on this day - only for short times, with rollbacks and you directly started again. In the evening on my last ride I had have a rollback, too. (The Ride OP was kidding and told us there were a huge cat running across the launchtrack and asked wether we saw it...) I love the launch, the ride itself is very smooth but nothing thrilling ,in my opinion, but defenitively better than no track or a short track after a launch! The launch feels like two seperate launches. At first the normal launch, like in the most launch coasters for example "Rita" and after the half straight track you get more pushed back and your skin in your face begins to wobble - that might be for a small time slot to stop the launch, cause on my last ride the coaster breakes down at this point and didn´t get the second full launch. The Goggles are no problem, I liked the ride more with them than without them in the second row, cause you can´t have the eyes stayed opened after the launch on the hill! You can try, but you won´t see anything, you´re too fast. The trims didn´t annoy me; I think you´ll need them or you won´t sit in the car after the hill You recognize them if you make sure for them, but not on your first ride, cause you´ll be impressed with that fast launch to hell
  21. Oh no! I'm actually there for today, but it has closed. Can't wait to ride the coasters. They prepared the park for the Grand opening in the evening. From what I saw, this will be a great party and I'm so jealous not to be invited or have any chance to join this party It seems like they will drive some special guests with many Ferraries from the Yas Marina Hotel over the Yas Marina Circuit to the Park at the other endning of the F1 Track to Ferrari World. The President of the UAE will be there too. Yesterday evening I take a short look into the park while they tested some Video and Audio show for this event. That was great, but can't see much of it from the door I was watching so it has to be better than my impressions are Sadly I can't post any pictures here, cause I only have my iPhone. They're showing tomorrow evening in one of the Abu Dhabi TV Channels the complete show, maybe someone can post it on Coastertube and link it here. Would like to see it, but will leave tomorrow evening to Dubai. EDIT: By the way, a huge thanks to Dubaidave for his clue for the hotel! It's really a great hotel and best located!
  22. Robb, that was a great fun! Didn´t expect, that I would find it and then I get stuck at the Geauge Lake discussion thread - didn´t know that there are so many stupid haters, like this Katie out there and had fun to read your comments on their Spy-Thread. But I loved to follow the scavenger hunt game and was curious were you put the hidden "something"
  23. Thanks Robb, did also realize that, after my post But will follow your tip. I´m sure this is another dump question and asked before thousand times, but didn´t read something about it. Is it possible for everyone to go to such a convention like IAAPA or the European Version? Or what do I need to get this chance one time? EDIT: Wow, great complete coverage! The videos are very interesting. Hope you enjoyed your stay there, like I did with your reports! Thanks for getting me through my nightshifts with them It seems like I will first travel with you all to Japan and after that I´ll be in "Mission (to) Space" at the Düsseldorfer Rheinkirmes - full of painfull moments But I still wonder what coaster will replace Olympia Looping in the next years, we´ll see... Thanks to Robb and the rest who made this report possible!
  24. Great update so far. Sad to hear that they definitive close the park. While my last visit they weren't sure what will happen to the park when the Bart family will leave. They searched for a solution for that.
  25. ^ Robb, can you please ask Rick Hunter, if it's possible to tell you the exact opening date and day of the Proslides at Wild Wadi in December? I'll plan a visit on Dec. 2nd/3rd; it would be great to ride them! Thank you. For the interesting and funny updates, too!
