  1. For all the people who have complaints, look at it this way: it certainly won't be BAD. This is just personal opinion, but I don't think Hershey has ever put out a bad coaster; they are all enjoyable and this looks to be no different. Hersheypark just proves again and again that you don't need to go all out crazy with some record breaking ride--they always find a ride that gives them something unique and 100% fun. Again, more with the "imo" stuff here, but just look at Storm Runner. It is a short short ride but MAN does it pack a punch. If there's anyone who can deliver a quality exhilerating ride with a very short duration, it's definitely Intamin. I, like most others, am curious to see how loading operations will be carried out. Either way, I know when I'm sitting in that train, nothing else will matter.
  2. Hey, thanks a lot! Yours is awesome too; the combination of the theme, completed landscape, and your layout come together really nicely. I love it when people make the in-house scenery work I will submit it to the game exchange now that my logging-in issues have been resolved. Thanks. If you've already voted on the track under "CoasterRollin'", I'd really appreciate if you'd do the same for the file uploaded today (08/01/2011) under "CoasterRollin" (no apostrophe) at http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=2358. Thanks!!!
  3. ^ Yeah, that's a similar technique to what military pilots do. Gotta figure out a way to stay conscious during those 9G turns, haha. I like greying out to a certain degree too, as long as it's not sustained. I305's first turn is great for that reason: insanely intense, but it doesn't last for too long. And tightening your leg muscles sounds like a much better idea than tightening your abdomen, which can give you a headache if you do it to hard.
  4. My Submission: Double Delirium (sorry, couldn't think of a better name). Just a standard sort of compact looper set in a traditional amusement park. Game Exchange Link now available: http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=2358 SCR3.BMP SCR4.BMP Double Delirium.SV6
  5. Oh definitely-- Everyone's responses have been spot on. I can only reiterate at this point: Stay hydrated Eat something healthy that will give you a lot of energy and continue to eat during the day. I like to pack my own lunch; I can make it more nutritional than what most parks offer Get a lot of sleep the night before. Personally, I've noticed that as the day goes on your resistance to high g-forces weakens a little (if you've been riding all day long), but not too much. I guess it is dependent on the person, but try going for the more intense rides at the beginning of the day. Also, I don't know if there is a direct correlation, but I noticed I grayed-out less back in high school. I ran on my school's track team, so my cardiovascular system was in tip-top shape. Again, I don't know if this is true, but I'm inclined to think that having a strong cardiovascular system helps your body maintain adequate blood flow even when exposed to moderately high postive g's. And yeah, FORCE yourself to go on I305, you won't be disappointed!
  6. ^That's great weather, in my opinion. I hope it stays that way. I really cannot wait for this upcoming weekend. I'm actually going to be in Allentown on Friday and Saturday for Dorney Park and a Drum Corps International (marching band) competition, and then I get to go to ECB! Two of my favorite things in one weekend: music and rollercoasters And thanks for your input!
  7. I'm having an issue. I've tried to login to the game exchange several times, but I keep getting a "wrong password" message, though I'm definitely putting in my username and password for the forums correctly. I'm assuming you don't have to make a separate username/password for the game exchange, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Any ideas? Or is it just because I'm newbie and I need to post more before I'm allowed access to the game exchange? Thanks, Nick, a.k.a CoasterRollin'
  8. You know what? As soon as I posted I thought "crap, that 'I'm a young guy" comment probably wasn't a good idea." Lo and behold, lol. And dang, I have to say you have an excellent taste in music. It's really impressive that you like such sophisticated and beautiful music when you're only 15. Most teens today like dubstep and the so-called "rap" on top-40 radio, as I'm sure you are well aware. I'll be honest and say I don't know much classical aside from the stuff I learned about through my high school's symphonic band.
  9. Wild One, now a proud supporter of cheese. Great ride.
  10. I'm a young guy so contemporary music speaks to me. I can understand that Mackey's style is not for everyone. He certainly is very different in his composing. For me, I really hear the "turbine" in Turbine. The song is supposed to be his musical interpretation of the inner-workings of a jet engine during take off, flight, and landing (I think). And I didn't know he was big-name composer. I'm a percussionist, so maybe that's why I also like it: the song's percussiveness. I'm mainly a drum set player, but I have concert percussion experience from middle and high school and I'm currently a tenor/quints (set of five tenor drums) player in the University of Maryland marching band.
  11. My god this report is amazing. I died at "Robb-sters."
  12. Hahahaha, that probably made me laugh more than it should have. I'm not laughing AT YOU for Mean Streak being the tallest woodie you've ridden. The combination of the ugh and crying face was just really funny.
  13. Anyone here like jazz-hip hop? I watched the anime Samurai Champloo and got REALLY into Nujabes, Fat Jon, Uyama Hiroto, Substantial (from my home state!), etc. This song by Uyama Hiroto just conveys peace and love.
  14. ^^ Oh oh hemiola!! Love those, lol. My high school band did a rendition of Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. The 2 against 3 timing was interesting to try to coordinate with marching, but it worked really well. . Start at 5:30 for the fugue. You can't listen to the hemiola without hearing the build up to it.
  15. I know this next one is contemporary, but I think it is a piece worthy noting and it somewhat fits the "classical" style because of it's symphonic nature. Plus, the software in this video look really cool.
  16. Picture of El Toro. Yep, I'm unoriginal... except I took it!
  17. Damn, that girl has some sexy 8's. It's quite amazing what you can do with text.
  18. Yeah, Hampton for me as well. I've always had "above-my-expectations" experiences with them. I stayed in one close to Six Flags Great Adventure and boy did its quality surprise me. Hampton is generally pretty affordable too, depending on the season, of course.
  19. ^ Yeah, I know what you mean, what with this awful heat. I was definitely planning on the walkback tour (thanks TPR for giving us this awesome opportunity!!!), but I'm also a sucker for multiple rides on Intamin coasters.
  20. Steel: Kingda Ka Wood: El Toro Surprise surprise, haha
  21. Wow... that is one incredible transformation! Congrats and glad you can share in the rollercoaster experience with everyone!
  22. This will be my first TPR event. I saw that between 9am and 10am there will be Fahrenheit ERT, Storm Runner ERT, and a backstage tour of Lightning Racer. What is the best way to handle simultaneous events? I would like to do everything (obviously), but at first glance it seems like I will have to pick only one or maybe two.
  23. ^Oh yeah, I think that's definitely right. They have plenty of space into which they could build, you know, assuming PG county lets them. There's arleady a lot of open space in Gotham City area of the park. ^ Yeah, SFA doesn't get the credit it deserves. It certainly has improved in the last few years and they do have a decent line up. All they need to do know is make sure they keep up with maintenance, lol. Many rides have frequent breakdowns, none of which are serious, but annoying nonetheless. And I filled out an "after-visit" SFA survery and requested new Millenium Flyers for Roar. Maybe with enough support they will consider it. I was really hoping they would refurbish Astroworld's Ultra Twister, but that proved to be wishful thinking...
  24. To me, that blurred image screams Intamin (and apparently it has already been confirmed as such?). I agree with some of the others and really hope Hershey becomes the first American park with a Mega-Lite. And by the picture that would mean a unique layout (heck yeah!). This is just a quick thought, but doesn't that element at the very left side of the image looks it could be a "Horseshoe Roll" like on Maverick instead of airtime hills? I highly (HIGHLY) doubt it, but I'm just saying there's a resemblance. By the way, I'm new here... to posting at least. I'm pushing myself to come out of my shell and get involved. And hopefully I will meet some of you at ECB!
  25. Hey TPR! My name is Nick, I'm 20 years old and I live in Maryland. I've been to 13 amusement parks and I've ridden 81 coasters. I'm a mechanical engineering student at the University of Maryland, College Park. Other than my passion for rollercoaster and the amusement industry, I enjoy running, creative writing, drumming, and making midnight runs to Taco Bell with my friends. Anyway, I've been lurking around TPR for years and it's never really occurred to me as to why I've never posted until now. Well, now I am and I just want to say hi to everyone! Just to let everyone know: 1. I will be posting a PTR of SFA within a few days. I went last Saturday, but in between work and life, I finally had time to organize photos and add captions. Hope you all enjoy! 2. I will be attending East Coast Bash at Hersheypark! I can't wait to meet some of you there and finally experience my first TPR event. I know it's going to be a blast! Lastly, I want to thank Robb and Elissa Alvey for their years of commitment to TPR and making the greatest community around for rollercoaster and amusement park lovers everywhere!
