  1. ^ According to the handy-dandy RCDB it's last operating location was Flamingo Land, but I don't know if that means it's in storage somewhere or if it's been scrapped (please don't let it be the latter!). And thanks for the compliments!
  2. Here's 3 photos of what I think is one of my best NL creations. A large Schwarzkopf shuttle inspired by Wiener Loop (aka Bullet while it was at Flamingoland)
  3. ^ I was kinda hoping there would be that one person that would be like "Hmmm, it's definitely a wooden coaster... it's not part of the train, so it must be a transfer track. Well then let's see here, let me go through my hundreds upon hundreds of rollercoaster pictures here... dut duh dut duh hmm, I have transfer tracks pictures of this one, this one, this o-- AH HA! *raises finger to the ceiling* It's Wildcat!" Looking back on the first picture I posted, I honestly don't know why I thought someone would get that. Sorry again.
  4. Yeah, you got it, lol. I'll sit out for awhile so I don't make more people angry.
  5. I'll take it. It's Wildcat. Okay, moooooving on...
  6. Before this, the first person to guess would be correct, which seems too easy to me. I think "guess the coaster" should be difficult, so I experimented with that picture, and looks like I made it too difficult. For that, I apologize *bows head*. Now I know what NOT to do. Anyway, here is the full picture. It's something I took, so you can't find the exact one online. It's still pretty difficult, but I'm sure some may recognize the features of the station house. And just incase, here's another hint: It's a "sweet" ride.
  7. Nope. Here is the same picture showing more.
  8. Okay, I WAS overanalyzing, but it's still a completely logical question because you didn't specify. Besides, would it really not be a junior woodie if the lift hill and/or drop was 45 feet (which is a standard hill size in RCTII)? I'm just saying, not asking you to change the requirement. I just didn't want to be disqualified on the off-chance that having the ride "above 40 feet" according to the game's heights would not be allowed. Let me give a specific example: Start of Lift Hill Track elevation: 5ft Land elevation: 0ft Crest of Lift Hill Track elevation: 50ft Land Elevation: 10ft First Drop Track Elevation: 50ft to 10ft Land Elevation: 10ft to 5ft Would this violate the rules of the challenge?
  9. For the Junior Woodie Contest-- When you say 40ft, is that a largest drop restriction, an overall height-above-ground limit, or a lift hill size limit (from bottom to top)?
  10. Nope. Hint: This part of the coaster is literally right next to the queue leading up to the station. I'm trying not to give it away.
  11. GhostRider @ Knott's Berry Farm http://www.rcdb.com/526.htm?p=943 I'm attempting to make this difficult. Let's see if it works.
  12. 1. BGW 2. BGT 3. IOA 4. Hersheypark 5. SFGAdv 6. King's Dominion 7. Dorney Park
  13. Haha, just today at work we had a lot of down time, so a group of my friends and I pulled up Wikipedia and started quizing each other on facts about our passions. They were quite impressed at how much of the "Rollercoaster" article I knew off the top of my head when I've never really given it a good look myself. They were also impressed that I have ridden 84 coasters. Imagine their surprise when I told them that was nothing and "this guy Robb Alvey who runs this website called Theme Park Review has ridden over 1000." My family doesn't quite understand why I love amusement parks so much; we are a bunch of loners, so my family hates crowds of any kind, but the exception is me with amusement parks. But they accept it and never question it. My closest friends understand mostly, too-- while they are not "enthusiasts," they are definitely "thrillseekers" so I can always count on going to parks with them and having a great time. My biggest advice for anyone on this site who feels any sort of embarrassment is this: GO TO A TPR EVENT! It's absolutely wonderful being around people that share your mindset. You can share and indulge in all those nerdy facts you've learned. And, best of all, the person you sit next to on that rollercoaster will have their hands as high as yours and scream with the same enthusiasm, if not even more so.
  14. Lightning Racer - Lightning @ Hersheypark. Amazing nighttime ERT session at ECB!!! Photo taken by me
  15. ^ Very well said. SFA doesn't have immersive theming, but they have been definitely getting the job done recentlyt. I definitely think this is a good move for SFA, for the obvious reason of not getting any major additions to the park since Batwing. Sure, there have been additions to the waterpark and the new Thomas Town/Whistlestop Park, but I can't recall hearing anything about thrill rides until now. This is just the thing SFA needs to reinvigorate the GP's interest. And for coaster enthusiasts who either live in the DC area and/or have not gotten the chance to ride IW (like me), this is a great opportunity to (1) get a new credit, (2) experience B&M's first coaster for all it's worth, (3) see what SFA does to improve upon it. It's a given that they won't just pack IW up, ship it, and snap it back together. There's bound to be some refurbishment, new paint (most obviously), and hopefully new trains. I could listen to other people's opinions all I want about how rough it is and what not, but ultimately and personally, I want to experience for myself.
  16. ^ Well said, lol, and that is good to hear. I haven't been in 2 years and after seeing all the changes Six Flags has made, I was wondering if they would follow suit. Oh, and... 3 DAYS! WHO'S GETTING PUMPED FOR ECB!?
  17. Out of the rides I've been on, the ones that scared me/made me jittery the first time were: Intimidator 305 - when your first 300ft coaster gets you up there in only 20 seconds, it's really nerve-wracking. But after that lift hill, fear dropped away and I had the time of my life. El Toro (SFGAdv) - pretty much the same experience. The day I first rode El Toro in the back row was the day I found out the true meaning of "OMFG!!!!" Hypersonic XLC - I don't think anything has ever kicked the crap out of me so much since that 0-80mph in 1.8sec launch The only ride that still really scares me is Drop Zone at King's Dominion (aka Drop Tower, but who really wants to call it that?). There is a certain fear associated with being up extremely high, not knowing when you are going to plunge straight to the ground, that is so effective each and every time. And that's why I love it.
  18. Now I wish I could've ridden Viper to see for myself, after reading all these comments. For me: Sooperdooperlooper - I don't think many people HATE it, but I certainly enjoy it a lot more than others, I've noticed Hercules @ Dorney Shockwave @ KD Hypersonic XLC Vekoma Boomerangs!
  19. ^ I kind of agree with you on that. I rode Green Lantern at Great Adventure, and I even thought that was a little on the rough side. After all that I've heard about Iron Wolf and Vortex, I'm not sure it's the best idea. And it's kind of funny, I had my own theories about what SFA might put in, and BS kept coming back as a likely candidate. SFA doesn't have many coasters marketed as "family", so I thought they would opt for something like BS.
  20. August 5-6: Dorney Park August 7: Hersheypark (ECB!) Late August: Six Flags America October: King's Dominion
  21. ^ Exactly. The purpose of this sentence is to increase the number of words in the post so that it avoids being pointless.
  22. Oh, thanks, Robb, how could I have made such a blatant error.
  23. ^ Ditto. They had the most natural feel to them. Plus, I really liked Kraken & Manta's theming/use of scenery around the steel coaster and the wooden coaster layout.
