Robb & Elissa in the USA - 2017!
SharkTums replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It took 10 golden raspberries and 10 of the special balls. I was getting really nervous!!! About 9 of 12 got him in the ball. One of our TPR people didn't and two random other people (including one kid in tears) didn't. -
Ohio State Fair accident
SharkTums replied to Skramp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Actually this came up today. As we were riding the alpine coasters super fast, in the rain, with no brakes...what if the metal just fails and we go flying off. Someone in our group said it and we all thought about it. Do I believe this accident was mostly due to shoddy inspection work due to it being a carnival ride? Yes. But do I think this should have happened to a real manufacturer ride in the USA? No. And that's the scary part. On our last trip to china, robb and I did not ride any of the scary crap at the same time to avoid the possibility of orphaning the child. I didn't think I had to do that here, but I will certainly think more about it in the future. I'm not a rides engineer or mechanic, I trust those people to do their jobs and make the rides safe. Sure I know a bit more about rides than the average person and could notice a few things that could be a problem but my safety is in their hands. Same way I trust airplane mechanics and pilots. I don't know much about that at all! It worries me that some people may not be taking their job responsibilities seriously enough. -
Ohio State Fair accident

I am not ok with this accident in any way. This is not something that should ever happen in a developed country to a real manufacturer ride. I only watched the original video twice and can't bring myself to watch any of the others. This sort of accident is bad for the whole industry and makes even me, a knowledgeable informed rider, question riding or putting KT on real rides. I hope we get a good, full inspection (by someone NOT from the Ohio inspectors obviously!!!) and get to the bottom of this. Wishing the injured the best recovery they can have. -

Good luck! Let us know. I'd really hope after three days of "CD" that putting it back to "TC" is a positive sign and not just jerking us all around. -

I'm pretty sure there's a picture out there with two trains from a few days ago? Maybe it's making progress back with one train? -

If it's waiting for a ride inspector, you think they'd know which day they are coming and run one train until then. -

I think it's very unfair of the park to keep listing it as TC for the first 5-6 hours of the day, and then finally listing it as CD. This is not a one time occurrence, it seems to happen quite a bit. -

Without searching back in the thread, what does it mean again when Lightning Rod doesn't even show up on the wait time list in the app? Is it that they haven't decided yet or that it sunk into the ground and is gone forever? -

^That park can get SUPER crowded so I'm not sure if $50 is worth it for two hours as you may not get on a ton of stuff. I will say though, even as an adult, if you ever liked Legos the park is really fun and cute and has some decent rides so if you can find some sort of discount it's worth it. Dragon is a great 'family' roller coaster as it at least has a really decent dark ride attached. -

I really hope not!!!!! They can't even get one train working consistently, how is it fair to take the ride down during the busy summer season to try and get two running!?!? -
