The RCT/RCT2 Preview Thread
deathbydinn replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^ I'm not crazy about it, it just looks a bit out of place being so high off the ground. I think it would look much better if it shot out of the building itself about where the launch supports are, but extending the building over the current station so the coaster isn't the highest point would look good as well. -
Amazing that we have people here who have already been to opening day 2013 to confirm that the ride will not be ready. Seriously, it's a boomerang, it won't take long to set up. If they start shipping out pieces soon it could very well be open on opening day. And if it's not, so what. SFSTl has a longer operating season than most seasonal parks, so even if god forbid it opens a week or two late, there will still be plenty of time to ride it.

Something that I would love to see in the game at the some point down the line is realistic days and seasons. For days, something that annoys me in RCT2 is that when you close a park it takes peeps forever to get out. I think it would be great to set up certain hours when the park opens and closes, and when it closes the peeps actually leave. For seasons, to go along with holiday events which someone brought up, it'd be cool to see the park weather reflect this, like getting darker earlier in the fall, snowing in the winter, raining more in the spring etc. Obviously these aren't top priority things that should be addressed right away, but features like these that would add more realism to the game are great to me since I always like trying to make realistic parks.

Introducing- Showdown: Sheriff Vs. Outlaw While the last five years have brought many new additions to the park, none have been as highly anticipated as Showdown, the very first "high five" woodie in the US. Showdown is full of fun elements including a high five hill, face to face duel track, and a helix finale with both trains dipping over and under each other. Showdown is found in the Boomtown section of the park next to the Tumbleweed corkscrew coaster. Other Boomtown attractions include TNT & Dynamite shot towers, Oil Rig drop tower, Trailblazer wooden coaster and the Steel Lasso enterprise. On the other side of Main Street, guests will find County Fair, a colorful land evoking memories of brightly lit rides at carnival midways. Here guests will find the Soaring Eagle inverted coaster, Warrior stand up coaster, Super Happy Fun Power Loop shuttle coaster, a top spin named Chaos, and a kiddyland area just for the little ones where they can swirl down a slide or drive their very own monster truck. Last, but certainly not least, Medieval Faire will take guests back to the days of the renaissance with attractions such as the Bullseye scrambler, All The Kings Horses carousel, Viking ship, Joust-a-Bout kiddie coaster, and our Castle Falls log flume. ^ There's a difference between all wood and true wood. Hades is a "true" wooden coaster because of the track. Supports don't decide whether a coaster is wood or steel. Even though Hades isn't all wood because of it's steel supports, the track is still normal wood coaster track. Either way the whole argument is stupid, especially because Mount Olympus already has enough to market with this being the first coaster of any kind in Wisconsin to go upside down. That alone will be enough to advertise the ride. If WI already had 20 inverting coasters, then I would understand pushing the wood aspect of it.

The main problem I have this version is the jarring transition from indoor to outdoor. You go from these cool rooms surrounded with very futuristic looking effects to driving over old buildings and whatnot. I just wish they would have done more to keep up the futuristic/digital feel. Other than that I have no real complaints. It definitely has some great effects in it, and I love the idea of designing your own car and testing it against other peoples.

To help clear some space on the midways, all the food locations have been combined to make the County Fair Farmers Market and Boomtown Food Court. And to continue trend of Chinese coasters, there's a new one that while not made by a Chinese company, did premier in China...more to come on that soon. Nice to see you working on this again. I love the new mountainside village for the wood coaster, can't wait to see more! -
Photo TR: Drayton Manor (Page 19)
deathbydinn replied to Jerrykoala2112's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Every time I look at Thorpe Park photos there's one thing that always bothers me, and this one is no exception. Does this park have any family rides?! I know trip reports don't usually focus on family or kiddie rides, but you usually at least see them in the background of photos or see signs for them or something. Their lineup of coaster and thrills rides are still pretty impressive, but I just never seem to see anything to prove that Thorpe has anything else to offer. -
Stupid Moves that Parks have made
deathbydinn replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm confused on this one. They got the ride in 97, why is it stupid that it didn't open a year earlier? -
This is still a major WIP, but fans of drop towers will certainly enjoy them in this corner of the park! Oil Rig will provide not one but two leg choppers sensations as you drop into it's structure, and judging the looks of the queue houses and exit building for TNT and Dynamite, they certainly seem to have a good kick to them. The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
deathbydinn replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pleasant Surprises: Mean Streak - After all I had heard, I assumed it would be the worst thing ever. In reality, it wasn't that bad. It did absolutely nothing, but I didn't find it to be rough at all. Gwazi - Pretty much the same story as Mean Streak. Didn't have much going for it, but it was much smoother than I expected, and this was with the PTCs. Mantis - After my experiences with Iron Wolf and things I had read, I was worried that the ride would just be headbanging galore. In reality, it wasn't that bad. A little jerky, but still fun enough to bring us back for a second ride. Unpleasant Surprise: Raptor - I was really looking forward to Raptor but it ended up just being a disappointment. Most of it was pretty jerky and their weren't many forces. This was all topped off with a swift punch to the head when it snapped into the brake run.
