You don't need a full day for DCA, plus they are across the plaza and you can do both in 1 day if they aren't too crowded. DCA opens later and closes earlier anyhoo .. you you can still catch fantasmic and the fireworks if they are running that night.

I agree .. the price hike is for a good cause really .. I didn't complain at the fact SFOT season parking went to $50 this year from $35 last year. But it sure beats paying $15 to park everytime. Then again .. they do need to raise prices to get out of that bad debt. If you don't like it, don't go, plain and simple. I get tired of people bitching about things like this.

Hotels at Cedar Point
coaster1 replied to metsfan11's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As far as I know, Breakers Express and Castaway Bay don't have trams/shuttles to the park, heck Breakers Express doesn't even give free parking at the park most of the time. They are about 5 miles away. Your best bet is to stay at Breakers, Sandcastle Suites or Lighthouse Point since they are all on the point. Some of the other hotels MAY have transporation to the park, but Sandusky without a car is pretty hard to do anything. -
Astroworld's Batman now at SF Darien Lake

Hmmm... no offense, but curious to know where you heard this rumour concerning eventual removal? Also, Im not a construction worker or coaster expert by any means, but Im puzzled as to how a coaster could effectively "tear itself apart"? Sources from previous experience working for Six Flags Inc. and full-times from the park who are personal friends. -
True ... BUT .. firewire was stated, the older models don't have firewire, so i assumed they have a firewire port on the camera, making it a miniDV/Digital8

The whole ride aged badly. AW had to start removing rows of cars due to stress in the track. The ride was tearing itself apart and SFAW was set to remove it this off-season or next due to the over whelming need and high price of a refurb on it. They also were going to remove another set of cars, bringing the total to 3 cars and 2 trains with one as a backup. -
Not the same really .. go to Best buy or Circuit City and buy a PCI Firewire adapter. There is no other way to capture DV video off a miniDV/Digital8 camera. USB MAY work .. but the quailty will suffer and the speeds aren't fast enough for capture.
-
The issue is the video is being converted into a digital format, hence the loss in quality. Hi8 should be less than a VHS tape .. but still won't be Digital8/MiniDV quailty as you see now-a-days. Lowering the frame rate may increase some quality, but anything less than 29.96fps will look like utter crap.

Santas Lodge in Santa Claus is fairly nice and right down the street from HW. Also, if looking for a budget, there's a nice Motel 6 in Dale as well as a Suites type across the street from the Motel 6. In Pittsburgh, don't miss Primanti Bros ... BEST SAMMICH PERIOD. Coasterfanatic can vouch for that statement and there's several in the metro area, but the one "downtown" is open 24/7. Another thing .. maybe on June 1 do PKI .. it's about 2 hrs from SFKK area and then another 4 - 4 1/2 to Pittsburgh area. Adds on a park and gives more rest persay .. there's also Coney Island in the Cincy area and that mall with that one coaster.

Dazzle and Pinnacle both provide the adapters + software. Although with Hi8 there will be loss since the video is not digital encoded to begin with and you may notice some lack in quality.

For ease and simplicity of use, use Windows Movie Maker, which is free and installed with every copy of Windows XP. I recommend Pinnacle Studio 9, 10 has ALOT of bugs, but is very very nice now that Avid is invovled. If you want something more professional, but high learning curve, there is Vegas and Premiere. For Mac, there's iMovie and Final Cut Pro and Express.

Astroworld's Batman now at SF Darien Lake

Most of them weren't removed carefully. Serial Thriller sustained some damage upon removal because the company is rushed to get the site cleared. The ones that were dismantled ok, we the pieces up for auction, except Serpent which was cut into piece due to the track being welded together originally. Even the HUSS Troika removed was damaged during delivery to SFOT and we had to scrap that one and get a replacement one from La Ronde. -
Cedar Fair's "Maverick"
coaster1 replied to MJHammer1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Interesting, new ride for CP in 2007 possibly? It will most likely be a "high" profile ride ala MF, maXair since the application is for shirts, keychains, posters, etc. Although, it could be for a large flat ride, maybe another HUSS Giant Frisbee for KBF, Dorney .. I can't help to think this is for a coaster at CP in the location of White Water Landing .. the name seems to fit the theme of the area. -

Wouldn't count on it and with the new management, it'll be a wonder if it does get re-built since it's not a family attraction and quite painful. After seeing how some rides were removed, it may require alot of maintenance to get it back in working order. -

Well this isn't a good ride .. it was on it's last legs already .. this is just another nail in the crap of a ride. -

X's issues weren't either or .. it was a problem with both Arrow and Six Flags Inc. Six Flags rushed the coaster and Arrow agreed, hence the so-called failure. I don't blame either or more or less ... they should of developed this more over time to look at the kinks and what not. S&S has had enough time and experience with X to know where the problems lie for the new one. -

Without a copyright ... well I'd supply some but I don't want MY work to be used without my knowledge or without permission. The Copyright simply protects people's private work, although it can be removed. -
I recommend rotating the "sideways" photos .. not hard, reduces neck strain

A compressed file like a ZIP file on UNIX. It's "tarred" then "gzipped" making a file.tar.gz file.
