Typical opening day around 4,000 or so .. opening day is always slow, but first time it wasn't freezing cold or raining in about 6-7 years.

And it's one of the park's that didn't need any improvement .. it's quite scary.

Again, where does the blame fall on the manufacturer for something that isn't their problem? The parks wanted lapbars, they got them. All the deaths were due to morons or faulty staff/training, no where do I see INTAMIN employees operating the rides, then MAYBE they would be at fault. INTAMIN does what they are asked of and provide their recomendations for safety, which is usually then redone by the park with stricter policies.

Another get rich quick thing .. stupid US laws, but again Florida does have some of the strictest ride enforcement around .. so this will hopefully be thrown out. Just proves the world is populated by Idiots.

Yeah no choice anymore unless you do a vacation package. You only get the magic your way choice now which is a tad confusing sometimes.

Yeah .. so before we leave for our week in SoCal, we visited opening day at Six Flags Over Texas. We had Media Passes basically and the park gave us VIP parking and drove us to the front gate on a golf cart. The opening ceremony was cool, featured people from Arlington, Steve Calloway (Park GM/VP), and Roy Williams from the Dallas Cowboys. They introduced the Justice League and talked about other changes and the 45 year history of the park. After the park was officially opened, we checked out the new paint on Judge Roy Scream and hit some other rides. Every ride (sans new rides) were open and running at max capacity, one of Synder's new requirements. Everything was great, even the Texas Giant was running like a bat out of hell and smooth. Friday Night ERT is only for hotel guests .. as I recall last year, they gave the ERT schedule at check-in cause I don't remember getting anything but the Saturday schedule in the mail.

Just as long as it's GOOD BBQ .. cause last time I had BBQ at DLR it was pretty bad .. but then again ... it IS California

The McDonalds is almost across the street .. but busy in the mornings and Breaker's Express breakfest was pretty damn expensive when i was there in June.

Frontier City's ErUPtion is not an upcharge, doubt it will leave since that park is up for sale and SF Inc cares little about it now. I think SFGAdv's is an upcharge, so that'll go bye-bye as well ... as with most upcharges.

The face was rebuilt just a few years ago with the original one being destroyed before 2000. The face and trains were moved to Fiesta Texas just in case they do decide to rebuild a copy of the Texas Cyclone, not the original since it will be fading into the past within the next 2 weeks. As for the closest parks .. both Fiesta Texas and Six Flags Over Texas are roughly about 250 miles .. give or take a few from Houston.
