Unofficial Solace Roll Call?
coaster1 replied to Guy T. Koepp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wed: Vegas Thu: Vegas Fri: KBF Sat: KBF/Adventure City/Castle Park Sun: Tijuana, Pacific Park, R&E's party Mon: Disney Tue: Disney -
Trains were saved as well as the face entrance. Everything else is due to be torn down. The "free" was fake and AW said the coaster is available for sale but you would be responsible for removing it as well.

If we drive, which I'm not too sure if we can cross the border with the rental or not .. I just want to know if it's within walking distance or any other tips, maybe a cab? -
So ok, USRoadTripper and I have been discussing this park for both of our upcoming vists .. Mine in March and what not ... So the question is .. has anyone been to the new location yet? And if so .. what's the best thing to do? Drive, Train to border and walk or what ... wouldn't mine 3 bonus credits while I'm down in SoCal. http://www.rcdb.com/pd1388.htm

Zyklon (Branson USA)

I'm not sure, but I'm sure La Ronde pulls in a good amount of attendance and money. Being that the park is pretty much the only one in the Montreal area, Great Escape is a tad south, but the fireworks exposition alone is enough to stay around in that area .. as that fireworks show is the WORLD standard.
-
For WOF and Branson .. WOF is a little crappy park personally .. we did it in Mid-May in about 2 hours .. but the lines started getting long (about 1 1/2hrs for Spinning Dragons). Branson however is a shoot-out. It depends on the time you go. I've had completely dead days at SDC and CC and then have had PACKED days. I'm talking like Cedar Point/Disneyland packed. The festivals they do draw alot of people, XMas time is big too and Celebration City is pretty dead most of the time until the fireworks show, but can pack long lines as we experienced in Apil last year and Labor Day weekend in 2004. Don't forget the traffic in Branson too .. can take more than 1 hour to get from 65 to Celebration City if you hit the strip at the right time and don't know the backroads too well.

We saw capacity at CP in October 2004 closing weekend and it was VERY cold .. well for us.

Windjammer was my first looping coaster!

One phrase ... Google toolbar and MS Word for grammer checks -
Dunno but there's alot better parks in Indiana and Pennsylvania than CP, GL and PKI .. that's for sure
-
Ok, I'll give Z-Force .. but how are the other two unqiue? There are still several Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loops running and were more prior. There are also several INTAMIN Parachutes still running and have been several more ahead of this time. The chutes will live on at SFOT tho .. if they get around to installing the new ones.

Wood Coaster Maintenance?
coaster1 replied to downunder's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Steel coasters are just as much considering the xray and non-destructive test they do yearly on the rides. The technology to test for stress fractures cost more than lumber and bolts and they can't be performed by carpenters or maintenance people at the parks, they are contracted out to specialized companies. -
Arrow had no involvement besides the trains and the fact they gave Vekoma track rights in the early 80's, the thing was originally built at Dinosaur Beach in NJ, long before Arrow went bankrupt in the late 90's. Arrow was still churing out products but had the lawsuit said to worry about up til 1995 .. with the last coaster before Tornado and X was Road Runner Express at SFFT, the last of the mine trains.

Intamin Ride Safety
coaster1 replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well Shockwave at SFOT has massive airtime and no deaths. No seatbelts connecting lapbars, but there are seatbelts. If the park obeys the manufacturers specs and ensure the bar is down and the seatbelts are connected, then it's ok. Granted there are SOME flaws, but I blame poor training and the pure lack of common sense by the human race. I feel completely safe on INTAMIN's as well as PTC trains, who have never had a issue due to design flaw .. as the HW issue was the fact the idiot unbuckled the safety belt. -
Ok, you want a Screen Capture of a video frame right? GIF would be a horrible image, JPEG is MUCH better for images but GIF's are smaller.
-
Basically thats the reason. KBF has walkways under SB, so the car makes sense, same with SDC having a mountain slope which would be a pain to pull in and park on the slope. The station alone is a good 40ft off the ground.
-
It has an articulated rolling stock like the coaster cars/trains. There wheels and bogies flex for the track and the cage can roll around an axis.
-
Yes it can .. it can move and stop anywhere on the track.
-
No, it's a park preference. SFFT doesn't have one cause they employee cranes on site as well as SFOT for their Batman. SDC is situated on the edge of a mountain to say the least where Wildfire is, the construction alone was a pain and they don't remove any trees for any purpose. If they remove 1 tree, they plant 3 new ones on property. So getting a crane out to the location is a pain.
