  1. No, no, you misunderstand. I don't give a hoot about inspiration, I'm talking about functionality. They need to prove their rides and ride systems are reliable otherwise why would anyone give them a second glance? When the competition has proven over and over again that they have extremely reliable attractions nobody is going to look twice at their ripoff kiddie raptor.
  2. You know, I watched that special a couple days ago. I can't think of a single song of hers that would be appropriate for a fast rollercoaster. 95% of that concert is slow, mumbly, and very bass-heavy and the other 5% is slightly uptempo but still subdued. I think she's a pretty cool person overall but her music isn't my style, so I may be wrong as I've not bothered to listen to her albums, but she wouldn't fit the bill IMO.
  3. Looks like the rumor mill around Rock N' Rollercoaster is churning again thanks to Paris losing Aerosmith and some licensing legal mumbo-jumbo with the band and record label. Aerosmith isn't nearly the powerhouse that they were 20+ years ago so I wouldn't be surprised if a new soundtrack is on it's way. Now if only they'd update the themeing from Party City's cardboard clearance section...
  4. While I've never been on a Raptor, I have been on a handful of RMC coasters and I feel like I keep hearing complaints about the trains and restraints across the board. Hopefully this will incentivize them to either redesign or outsource their trains because wow you people are vocal about it. Personally I've never felt uncomfortable in an RMC train (again, haven't tried a Raptor yet) and I'm 6'3" 230lbs. They're not what I would call comfy but they're solidly mediocre trains and restraints that get the job done.
  5. More info has been release and, well, it's seeming more likely that the young girl was thrown from the ride. https://denver.cbslocal.com/2021/09/06/glenwood-springs-caverns-adventure-park-haunted-mine-drop-death/ Edit - Added another source - https://kdvr.com/news/local/glenwood-caverns-death-dispatch-audio/
  6. Anything that requires a road doesn't work well in LA as long as the sun is shining. We've hung out at the Chicken Dinner Restaurant for an extra three hours just so we didn't have to deal with the traffic between Knott's and Victorville.
  7. I'd do Kentucky Kingdom and Holiday World, personally. They provide a better overall experience than Dollywood or Great America.
  8. ^ They removed three large, adult-friendly flat rides to replace them with multiple kiddie flats. Hardly an improvement, IMO. Also, they just killed a kid. I'm not exactly hyped about a visit to this place. Give them some more time and we'll have a new Mount Olympus.
  9. You may be right, but Manta is a seriously wicked ride overall. Tons of airtime and twisty fun. I enjoy dive machines but Mack makes far better coasters than B&M these days, IMO.
  10. You know, back when I worked on cruise ships our shoreside management team made the decision to switch our shipping from air freight to ocean freight. I told them that the entertainment department would take a major hit as soon as something breaks. See, with air freight, parts could be overnighted to Miami then delivered to a ship within 48 hours, 72-hour total turnover in worst-case scenarios. I was the showroom automation technician. If my stuff died, the show died. If audio or lighting lost some equipment we can keep going right along. If my lifts, drops, turntable, or whatever broke we had to make severe changes to the flow of the show, dancer choreography, everything. Basically we would have to stop the show, have a meeting and decide how to best re-order the show to work around whatever was broken. When this happened with a 72-hour window it was no big deal. We'd limp to the finish line. Well, Carnival was never keen on keeping replacement parts readily available. Sure enough after they made the change to ocean freight I lost an entire electronics cabinet (that, you know, controls the drive motors for my scenic elements) that disabled the front 1/3rd of the stage. That includes the two main curtains meant to blind the stage as well as a few other scenic elements that are integral to the shows. Shoreside's solution was to manually open the curtains and just leave them open. The Austrian curtain is basically a security door after-hours, so now we needed to have a rotating team of security constantly in the theatre keeping watch. The other curtain blocked the view of nearly the entire stage for scene changes, etc. Welp, looks like the audience is now getting a very well-lit view of every scene change. The scenic elements in question had to be removed from the shows which created some awkward shifts and scenes. Long story short, the customer reviews plummeted while we waited for our new equipment to slowly make it's way to us. It took over a month. My point is always keep a spare. When you use that spare order another immediately.
  11. I'll never understand why they bothered with the 4-train station in the first place. They used it frequently right when it first opened but even before the first season was finished they were down to two trains at once, IIRC. Six Flags really knows how to show off then fall on their face. Edit - And don't get me started on how they split the line well before the station. Rather than one line going to four trains (loading from the center like a smart company would do), one line became two lines for two trains each, which then became one line to two lines for one train each, which is now one line for one train. Pathetic.
  12. HA! Pass. Do they just hate money? Who is in charge of this company these days? I feel like it's been a steady downward spiral. Soon enough they'll put Pontin's Holiday Camp to shame.
  13. Finally, I've been waiting on the dates to plan a trip.
  14. OMG that was so unnecessary. There isn't a hint of a g-force on Thunder Dolphin.
  15. You know, they could have easily swayed me to visit their first ever Howl-O-Scream if they opened the damn ride. Now I have no interest in attending an unproven event with only three haunts. Scary Farm is far more interesting and worth my money.
  16. Necromancer here. I looked and couldn't find an official thread yet, but things are ramping up in a big way at this park. Friends and family previews are going on right now and they open next month. I came across the POV of their Jurassic World attraction and I just had to heap praise on the team at the park because hooooooooooooly moley it's incredible. Spidey tech with mostly live sets and massive, in-your-face animatronics while only having a few screens peppered throughout. Honestly this ride alone might be the reason I finally bite the bullet and make a trip to China.
  17. Now there's a Screamin' Swing worth a line! For comparison, Barnstormer at Dollywood hits 45mph and the swing height maxes out at 110 feet. 23mph faster and 25 feet higher? Sign me up!
  18. If anything in terms of a redesign happens it should be the queue line. I was never comfortable in TTD or Kingda Ka's queue for similar reasons. I'm all for getting up close and personal to a coaster's layout but putting endless switchbacks flanked on all sides by murderous steel is a bit different than a hard hat tour.
  19. Disneyland Paris. That entire "resort" (if you can call it that) should be swallowed by the bowels of hell. Same goes for the entire city of Paris. I hate Paris. France is lovely. Paris is awful.
