  1. Does it still submerge? I saw a POV from a year or two ago and the boat didn't make a large splash anymore on that dinky little hill. I remember it used to literally go underwater and the boat turned into a pool.
  2. ^ At first glance I thought it was a solar farm. Yikes.
  3. I gotta say, as a fairly new father one of the benefits of bringing a child in a stroller to a park is the ability to drop all my loose articles with my wife and the stroller while I ride, then swap. I haven't taken a second glance at a locker in 15 months.
  4. ^ They finally got a color printer with their 2022 budget and goddammit they're gonna use it!
  5. Buena Park gonna keep being Buena Park. I won't even stay in a hotel by the park anymore because the shady characters have gotten out of control in the past few years. Practically every hotel within walking distance is a dump these days, anyway, and god help you if you stay at the Rodeway Inn or Colony Inn (unless you're looking for crack, in which case jackpot).
  6. I hope the park has the bankroll to survive their godawful opening strategy, truly I do, but I'm in Des Moines and have no interest in visiting until Mutagani (at least) is open. I can't imagine anyone is looking to travel to this place as it is now the most remote, inaccessible park in the country. They took the crown from Lagoon.
  7. ^ Get outta here with your readily-available facts and details. This is America.
  8. ^ Holy hell, guy, it was a joke.
  9. That's actually a chain system. They were referring to Skyrush's lift that more or less throws the train over the hill.
  10. It's great to see the Batmobile looking so sharp, but honestly I wish they updated it to the badass muscle car version from the new flick.
  11. I've seen photos elsewhere, just some track in the parking lot. Wild Arctic is the presumed destination.
  12. This would be Gerstlauer's first big boy invert, correct? This could get funky.
  13. Jesus, the photo they use on their site to advertise Coconut Cove just screams safety concern. https://www.worldsoffun.com/oceans-of-fun/water-slides-experiences/coconut-cove
  14. Just joshin, but not really. They're still friggin' excellent rides. Edit - So I just watched the JDC pov again with the volume up higher. Did I hear Robb say "O M Wheee!" just after the midcourse heading into the turn? Because I'm stealing that.
  15. The dude in charge knows how to properly budget between departments. It's not a question of getting more or less money but rather how each park's head honcho feels like spending it.
  16. ^ RMC didn't design the launch motors IIRC. Meanwhile SFOT is closing Mr Freeze every day from 2p to 8p due to Texas' godawful electric grid. Long story short, maybe electromagnetic launches are a bad idea these days? Let's go back to flywheels.
  17. I love that we're seeing Schwarzkopf coasters from the late 70's still operating and getting refurbed while at the same time we're seeing enthusiasts whine that B&M coasters from the 90s are old and decrepit.
  18. Simple. Hersheypark is a FAR better park than any Six Flags, especially for families with younger children. Amish country is also a huge tourist attraction so there's a built-in audience. Nobody is driving around Central Jersey for shits and giggles. I lived in Monmouth and the only times I'd go into Jackson were either to go to Great Adventure or I was on my way to Philly. You know what else is in Jackson? Jack shit. Unless you're a rich golfer in which case Metedeconk might interest you, but that $250,000 annual membership might turn some of the Six Flags clientele off. Edit - Speaking of Metedeconk, I used to caddy there while I was in high school and college. I actually caddied for Joe Pesci a couple of weeks prior to him getting expelled from the club for tearing up the greens after getting too drunk. Nice guy, though, and he tipped extremely well.
  19. My theory still holds water. Great Adventure and New England are the two Six Flags park that aren't located in a population center. Great Adventure is practically in the Pine Barrens and New England is nearly two hours from Boston and three hours from NYC.
  20. Tivoli is fantastic and was certainly an inspiration for ol' Walt. If you get the chance, though, visit Die Efteling. The influence from that park on Walt is undeniable.
