  1. ^I understand Black DIamond, but chill about the Flying Turns. It won't be open, I'd bet money on it. It's been in this state for many, many years now. I'm not trying to be pessimistic nor anti-Knoebels. It's one of my favorite parks, the management is great, and they are legends for doing this. Despite what it might sound like above, I'm just a fan who has come to terms with the problems involved and is totally perfectly fine with it.
  2. The new study is AWESOME. Things I picked up, some obvious and known-fact and some speculation: -Great Bear constellation on first page- hint at location -Mentioning creek beds-location -2004- year Storm Runner opened Weird stuff I couldn't figure out: -possible mine theme? (Minetown, all this talk about clay) -possible launch coaster? (might be a giant red herring, but its pretty straight forward) -any idea about the "white dwarf particle" and "GWT" on the diagram? All total speculation, but this is much better than the normal mindless guessing that happens with most new coasters, so I figured I'd chip in.
  3. Christ. What the hell is that?
  4. I love how you can see your own splash when you come out of the immelman. It's giant!
  5. ^They only took out one, they were mirror images. http://rcdb.com/2557.htm
  6. It looks like the park has maintained everything well, the signs and paint look new and fresh since I was there. Happy happy happy!
  7. Nice report! I wish I could be a marathoner, I hate track races. Too bad distance training and school doesn't mix, 50 mile weeks are already a pain to fit in. PR'ed in the 2-mile earlier with a 10:39, but that's pretty meh. My goal is down to sub 10:20 by Sectionals, so we'll see.
  8. I'm glad they built such a nice custom spinner, it really doesn't overlap at all with their wild mouse. The street artist concept is pretty schnazzy, too. Sounds like something Six Flags would fail at doing.
  9. Couldn't resist.
  10. Nice find! I've always wondered about this place, and now, thanks to the wonders of the internet, I know more than I ever wanted to know!
  11. Sculpt the terrain around the turnaround so that the train follows the hill gradually and naturally, which would make the bridge almost like a trench or ravine. I think that would work really well, especially if it's a bit wooded back there.
  12. Tim Allen . Hmmmmmmm... Eddie Murphy *cough* Haunted Mansion *cough*

  14. Daaamn. That's really cool.
  15. Sick lift and layout so far. Keep it up!
  16. ^Totally understood. My phrasing was a bit too harsh anyways. It unfortunately makes sense that in order to maintain a real attendance (of, you know, normal people) you need to constantly upgrade and renew. I was more of just referring to the sad truth of that considering Blackpool's size and treasure trove of historical rides. I have been to the park, contrary to what it might seem, and I understand how frickin' JAM PACKED the place is and how it adds to the character. Just trying to seperate myself from the fanboys.
  17. My only complaint is that Comet looks waaaayyyy too big, especially compared to Great Bear. I really respect your attention to detail, though.
  18. Great pics! I still love how hard they are working to keep Roller Coaster there, especially considering the current management's lack of care for some of the other classic rides in the park.
  19. I just love how they have Battlestar up there, too, considering it was hardly open in 2010. It is nice to see Sky Rocket getting good press for its small stature, but don't worry Robb, I305 still kicks its ass .
  20. I don't think there ever was a boat ride, considering that IOA has only been open for about 10 years or so... Not trying to contradict, but I'd be interested to hear more.
  21. Hollywood Brown Derby and the Flying Fish are my two favorites. They blend the most theming, high class atmosphere, and absolutely FANTASTIC food. Also, if you like splurging on random bits of awesomeness, the little-known Lunch with an Imagineer program is absolutely worth every dollar. When I did it at the Brown Derby two years ago we ate with Bernie Mosher, the head of creative development for the Florida post. Needless to say, it was pretty damn cool. *EDIT: Sorry, I realize that this doesn't really help the original poster too much, but that's still what I would recommend if he has the time.
  22. 15/20! Bummed I missed the Blackpool question, though.
  23. Now THIS is what I want to be able to do with Sketchup.
