  1. Mean Streak used to cost over $250,000 a year to maintain. As Justin said, they had to trim it as it was tearing itself apart.
  2. ^ How about we trade flyers instead? We'll take Firehawk and you can have Tomb Raider.
  3. Blueprints or not, it's still a marketing rendering. And may not be exactly to scale. It really makes no sense to discuss this until the actual drop is built.
  4. As far as park operations go I can't really tell a difference at Canada's Wonderland. Seems to be run the same way with CF as it was with Paramount. Though we're getting Behemoth, so I guess we come out ahead.
  5. Actually it is your fault considering you can "spin" the globe in Google Earth. In the top right there's a control that looks like a circle. Grab part of the circle and drag. I'd say the problem is between the keyboard and the chair, not with Google.
  6. ^ Exactly. Which means nothing. The whole topic is pointless until the drop is built. Hell, the track itself isn't even on site yet.
  7. The first that comes to mind is Blackpool and Big One. They announced the ride as something like 235 feet tall. But it's actually only about 215, the park used the height above sea level or something. As far as the "drop is only 74 degrees" is there any fact behind that rumor? or is it just a bunch of people speculating? Because I have yet to see anything which explains where it's coming from. And besides, the difference between 74 degrees and 85 isn't that big. Edit: This whole "74 degrees" thing is coming from people analyzing the renderings. These are marketing renderings, not blueprints. Probably the same people saying "the drop is 74 degrees" are the one's saying Magnum is still sinking.
  8. Depends on what kind of lottery R&E decide to go with. If it's a Russian roulette lottery ... well let's just say you don't want to lose at that one.
  9. As long as they yell "it's coming right for us!!" I see no problem with this. It's self defense afterall.
  10. very true, it's still operating like a Paramount Park >_< but I would think that they would want to get on construction before Winter.... No, it's being run like a seasonal park. No parks in this area are open during the week in Sept/October. There's probably alot of construction going on right now with the park closed.
  11. ^ The park isn't even open right now. There might be more pics after the weekend. This isn't Cedar Point, so you're not going to get 100s of daily pics.
  12. I wasn't talking about the S&S/Intamin towers. On those you still have an idea of when you're going to drop. You stop at the top for a few seconds before dropping. So you pretty much know when it's going to happen. The one at Waldameer is a smaller one. (I'm not sure of the manufacturer). It drops you as you're getting pulled up. So you really don't know when the drop is going to be. This is the one I'm talking about.
  13. That one was awesome too. It might have been small, but it got me pretty good. I love how there's zero warning as to when you're about to drop. I think I actually liked that small one more then the giant Intamin one's.
  14. I wouldn't really put it as "well they won last year, so give it to someone else now". All I'm saying is that the awards are obviously biased. There are parks that are doing amazing things, but never get mentioned. And yet other parks that do win, seem to continue winning regardless of how much they improve. I just have a hard time swallowing the fact that CP has out done every other park for 10 straight years.
  15. Also what kind of a hospital would let a man walk around after operating for a broken neck?
  16. Seems pretty fishy that someone can be taken via ambulance with a broken neck, and yet no one at the park or police are notified.
  17. Why? Taller does not mean better for wooden coasters. Quite the opposite in fact.
  18. +1. Most myspace pages are so badly designed that you can't even read the page. Facebook is much better for not letting people customize their pages to that point. It isn't perfect though. (the add ons kind of get annoying)
  19. It's not really bashing CP, as much as it is bashing the golden ticket awards. There's nothing wrong with the parks that won. But it's kind of bad when the same parks win every year. Kind of defeats the point of the awards. How exciting would the Oscars be if the same 10 actors won every single year?
  20. CW is only a one day park. Even with Behemoth there's not much there to make you want to spend two days. (assuming you don't go in peak season when the lines are brutal). I'd avoid swimming in Lake Ontario. Too dirty.
  21. Maybe not a flaw, but a safety feature. Sounds like it did what it needed to do. Someone tampers with it, and the restraint locks. If sticking a screw driver in some hole causes the restraint to open, then THAT would be a flaw. It seemed like they knew what they were doing. They seemed to have that fake "I'm pretending to look innocent" looks to them. Like they were grandstanding. And I don't buy the "my legs were going numb I was so nervous" crap. He's sitting in the station, with a locked restraint, what is there to be nervous of? And he's small, so there is no way that a B&M restraint can tighten to the point of making it painful for him.
  22. Seems kind of odd to be building the station before starting on the ride itself. I wonder if it has to do with so much of the ride being so close to Italian Job and Splashworks. Guess they can't really do much building over there while the park is open.
  23. You just couldn't resist the urge to try her pregnancy test yourself could you?? btw good to hear you're not going to Iraq.
  24. ^ Blackpool is the exception in my list. Though only a couple of their coasters would I consider to be standout. Nash and the mouse. The rest aren't anything special IMHO. However Blackpool is more well rounded, having many dark rides and other attractions.
  25. The market for a giga is kind of like the S&S towers. So many parks that could afford one already have one. (or at least a hyper). There's probably only a handful of parks that would have the resources to build a giga. It's probably unlikely.
