Besides it wasn't nearly as much of an advantage as q-bot/fast lane, etc. You could only get one stamp for one ride. And in the case of the popular rides you had to know exactly when they started stamping or they'd run out before you even got over there.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Carnage replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well WT has had quite a bit of downtime. Just not nearly as long, or as reported as TTD. WT had some downtime in it's first year due to stress fractures in the track. Extra supports were added in the off season, and the ride hasn't been run as fast as it ran early in it's first season. It's eason ended early also the season before last, or the one before(can't remember 100%) due to electrical problems. But regardless, WT still is much more reliable than TTD. Though mechanically speaking TTD ran pretty well last year. It's just that TTD needs good weather to run. Rain, wind, cold all seriously affect it's ability to run. It's very much a "fair weather" ride. -
Trip back east in June Advice

I would strongly suggest that you make it to Silver Dollar City. I'd stay a full day there. It's a great park, and you should really enjoy yourself. SFGam is good as well, though even in a full day you might be rushing to get everything done. -
Are you an official ACEer?
Carnage replied to Superdasher's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Solace isn't an ACE event though. It's park sponsoured. You don't need to have an expensive ACE card to get in. -
^ Beginner or not I would never suggest someone buy a camera that has no optical zoon, crappy video, and is poorly made. Your camcorder doesn't sound like an upgrade over his digital camera at all.

Most Improved Theme Park?...
Carnage replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry but I totally disagree. Sure Six Flags added alot of rides, but even during the Six Flags year the park was a ghost town. And the park was constantly reported to be one of the worst run parks in the Six Flags chain. Cedar Fair just took over and removed the only part of the park that was done properly. Geuaga Lake/Six Flags Ohio/Six Flags Worlds of Adventure should just not be mentioned in the same phrase as "most improved" in my opinion. -
You missed the point. The ride op though that you had to be OVER 54 inches to ride, where as it meant you had to be UNDER 54 inches to ride.

Amazing water slides
Carnage replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The comparison doesn't really work though. A loop on a roller coaster can be controlled. The train will hit the loop at pretty much the same speed every time, the riders can't really affect how the train handles, etc. On a water slide designers don't have that same kind of control. The speed of a rider can very greatly with the size, weight, riding style, etc. So it would be next to impossible to make a looping water slide that would work all the time. -
Unless you decide to spend more you're probably not going to find a camcorder that takes good quality still shots. Still shots by camcorders tend to be more like screen caps, decent, but far from great. You might be better off to keep your digital camera, and use the new camcorder just for video.

Amazing water slides
Carnage replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was going to mention those. Those slides were insane. Rode them like 3 times and I never survived hitting the water. All I remember is face planting on the water, and then standing up at the end of the pool. You hit the water at such speed that the tube just digs into the water and catapults the riders off. -

Coaster Count problems
Carnage replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Then count them as one if you really want. This is all personal preference. If you don't think something should be counted, then don't count it. If I wanted to count a single coaster 32 times for sitting in every seat there's nothing stopping me from doing it. It'd be dumb yes, but I could do it if I really wanted to. -
Coaster Count problems

Same layout maybe, but the experience can be quite different. Ask anyone who's been on a lot of SLCs and they'll tell you that each one rides slightly differently. -
One of my profs in college actually said it like that. He was getting remarried and told us he was off to get Wife version 2.0.

Coasters that haven't aged well...
Carnage replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I find that Vekoma's age pretty well. Problem is most of them are rough right from the start. -
Coasters that haven't aged well...
Carnage replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Not exactly. The ejector seat(1-3) is the roughest seat in the train by far. The middle of the train is where it will be the least rough. -
Coasters that haven't aged well...
Carnage replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You think Vortex has aged well?? I thought it was one of the most painful rides I've ever been on. Magnum I love. I find it to be one of those rides that needs to be a bit rough. If it was smooth it'd be boring. But not everyone can take the pain I guess. -

Happy April fools. -
^ Well I'm not familiar with how Adobe captures. However whenever I've done it with Vegas it captures the whole tape at once, but saves them as seperate clips. Adobe might do the same thing.

^^ British would be most likely for that reason, and just for it being a commonwealth country. But I'm sure there's a large population that wasn't original decendants. Say I moved to Australia, my origin would still be Scottish, etc.
