  1. For some reason, I really enjoyed Superman at SFDK, yet I've never been excited about these rides being popular clones. It's cool to hear that Phobia is a particularly good version! Shaking my head about The Accident...hoping for the best and speediest solution.
  2. While Fury 325 brought a ton of positive attention to the park, I've remained highly skeptical of Carowinds since it was easily my least favorite in the chain (except maybe Dorney). It looks like the rides added since my visit make for a real improvement. I missed the Flying Cobras name and theme change; I like it!
  3. Kiddie Coaster at the Oregon State Fair.
  4. Arctic Blast at the Oregon State Fair.
  5. 57 out of 62 in North America. Missing Mako, Valravn, Leviathan, Behemoth, and Fury. (I'm not double-checking opening dates, but I want to say there was a brief stretch of time where I was fully caught up on B&M's in the United States!) For the zero people who care, I haven't ridden Patriot or Rougarou as floorlesses. 59 out of 101 in the world, or 58%. Diavlo and Hollywood Dream are the additional two.
  6. 70 of the 100 Best Roller Coasters for me. That's including Mean Streak at Cedar Point.
  7. My records indicate that it was Flight of the Hippogriff at USH.
  8. Very entertaining report! Camden has long been high on my list of must-visit parks, even though it's somewhat remote as far as US parks go, and it sounds like it only warrants a quick stop. But a classic park with two woodies, a Whip, and a traditional dark ride? I'm in. This was the most illuminating part of your report for me: Color me terrified!
  9. ^Since both Hurlers were immediate shoo-ins for my bottom 3 wooden coasters, I have a hard time believing either of them were ever good!
  10. Well, that'll show 'em!
  11. Fun fact: Seaside is the best/only good coastal town in Oregon for enthusiasts, with its Lusse Auto Skooters, classic Tilt-a-Whirl, Fascination parlor, and small fiberglass carousel.
  12. ^^It will! Details are scattered in the comments on this FB post, which contains the same information found in the OP/naming contest. Thoughts...I'm so, so glad this is what the addition turned out to be! Was up last night reading reviews of Hydrus to make sure I'm in for a pleasant surprise, and it sounds like that'll be the case. Super glad they went with lap bars, whether that's what Gerstlauer is currently pushing or purely a park-by-park decision. My #1 guess was an El Loco or Eurofighter, but I'd steeled myself for disappointment as is only appropriate for a small, carnival-style park that's replacing its Pinfari looper. I enjoy Eurofighters, so I'm
  13. Not linking since it seems we'll be finding out everything soon enough, but I've gleaned some minor updates on the Oaks addition, mainly from some random on their FB. We will indeed find out on Wednesday, at least one inversion is basically confirmed through strong hints, and a 48" height requirement is confirmed.
  14. This! The Vengeance part is pretty bada$$ and fresh, and I'll probably just call it that if it's part of the name. And Emu Blazer is admittedly way better than my suggestion of Ostrich Streak.
  15. Yesterday (!), because I was up and about way too late today to put my next sleepytime at risk. When was the last time you ordered something new at a restaurant?
  16. ^It is a bit of a tricky comparison since Voyage is a superior coaster. I still think the Beast is a more special and surreal night ride, but really, they both are! It's more of a night-and-day difference with Beast, since that's more of a "high-speed scenic train ride" during the day, but a magical must-ride at night. Whereas Voyage still brings it with the airtime and such during the day. Raven's the real night ride star at the park!
  17. ^Definitely don't skip Gilroy Gardens if you can help it!
  18. The SFFT announcement blew my ever-loving mind...and CGA is relatively cheap and painless for me to get to. Plus, I need all the new killer coasters in NorCal (Joker, this if it pans out like we think, and sadly even Gold Striker, plus SCBB's rooftop spinning hotness). Not to mention I'm thirsty for revisits to these parks anyway: my only visits to all but SFDK were in 2009, and I haven't been to SFDK since 2012! Hmm...
  19. That there coaster is a thing of beauty.
  20. I haven't really paid attention to this style out in the wild, FYI. My thoughts: I like them well enough, especially the first example, but I'd also figure they're a gimmicky trend that could get old quicker than quick. I feel vaguely nauseated when watching inversions sometimes, and these photos have that effect ("disorienting" is a good word). I'd say to use sparingly, or just quit if you're not feeling it!
  21. ^True that. In the case of Oaks, I'm thinkin' like this... 60% probability the new coaster will be markedly better than Looping Thunder and at least halfway decent to enthusiasts, in terms of novelty or thrills or both. 39% probability the announcement will be disappointing or underwhelming to some degree: at best it's a great fit for the park but a mere 'box to tick off' for most enthusiasts...and at worst it's a flat ride. 1% probability that they're going to surprise us with a major game-changer that would put the park on the map. Neither the marketing so far nor the park's apparent needs suggest this.
  22. I ate a sunflower seed just the other day. When was the last time you tried a new recipe?
  23. ^I just had to look up "Goodwill VIP Member entrance" to see if that really meant Goodwill the store, because that struck me as a really random partnership. All right then!
  24. ^^For real; it's been a good long while in terms of anything that could remotely be considered major and, well, good. I hope Oaks does me proud with next year's addition.
