TOP 5 B&M INVERTED COASTERS
BrownStreak replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Raptor 2. Le Vampire 3. PGA Top Gun 4. Batman- the Original 5. OMG! I've only been on 4! I must say though that the ride now known as the Dominator at GL is my #1 favorite B&M ride! -
This past Sunday at Cedar Point for the first time ever I rode on the far left side of Raptor- now on almost any ocaster I ride on the right side- just preference I guess- but Raptor felt like a completely different ride over there- it was still the back seat which is where I usually ride. Does anyone else notice a difference on rides in general switching from the left to right side?

Yeah Skyhawk was only 1 full swing in each direction before it started to slow down again! Possibly they adjust it to crowd flow? The crowd flow was definately following cattle mentality that day- hit the front 1st and then go to the back- which was great as I had arrived so late in the day and the front was empty. Something else I forgot- their swing ride (don't know what they call it- you know the big set of swings that well swing and the top tilts) was closed as it Knotts'- any connection? Also, the Swans appear to be gone- I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere!
-
The entire Kid Arthur's Court is gone as is Schwabinchen- which was a ride kids could ride with their parents. As far as a few posts up- I'm not complaining- I had a good time- I have a Season Pass- that's why I am going back (on Father's Day for Gay Day if anyone wants to do a ride together). Who wants to read a post where all I talk about is the fun I had- I'm just making observations. Maybe I am getting jadded in my old age (I am 32) or maybe its just the Urban Planner (my current college major) in me that always wants to improve things. I mentioned the food thing because I was kinda surprised how far they went to correct the situation- I was prepared to just pass it off as an early season mishap.

Oh and something I forgot to mention- in years past they had games and such under the awning of the old pirate ride- I noticed that the area had nothing in it and I was wondering if anyone knew if they had plans for this buidling or something. The other major thing I noticed is that they removed A LOT of children's attractions to put in Maxair and the Impulse Coaster- which is why part of me is hoping they are putting something back into the pirate buidling- even a basic Sally darkride would be cool! PS: Please someone respond to my TR!

I arrived in Sandusky at around 2pm this past Sunday and I pulled into the Breakers Express parking lot to take a pic of the fake track- and my camera didn't work! My mf-in' roommate stole my batteries! The two longest waits I have all day were Top Thrill Drag Queen and the Season Pass Processing Center. There were two lines opened at the Pass Center- one with 4 groups in it and one with 6 groups in it- it got in the short line and watched as people 10 groups back in the other line got served before me- then the girl at the photo booth asked me a question and then took the picture while I was answering! 1st ride was going to be MF- but it was closed! 1st ride was in the back of the Raptor with a 5 minute wait. It was of course fun but a bit bumpier than I remember. I also didn't like the co-ed crew, the girl spieling sucked! Then came Cedar Downs, then I walked into the Park Ops office to see the Raptor 10th Anniversary Plaque (I worked the ride in 1999). I then rode the Iron Pumpkin- what's with those new colors?! I rode the train to the back and met two employees on the train who said that MF needed a part and would be down for a week or more! I saw the site of whatever is going in there Mean Streak had a 45 minute wait! I didn't ride it- there is something disturbing when Raptor is nearly walk-on and Mean Streak has a 45 minute line! I then rode CC Mine Train and prepared myself to wait 45 minutes to ride Sky Hawk- Immediately after getting in line they asked for a single rider (times like this make me glad I have no friends- with me at the time I mean). OMG! A) It was very short and B)I was pissed it was short because it was awsome! There is nothing to hold onto and you just feel so open! I stopped into the Town Hall Museum and wept over the WWL Model. Some other guests asked why it was torn down and as the guy was answering the question I asked "So what's Maverick," he told me CF has the rights to 25 names they have not yet used. We had a nice chat about past attractions and the fact that when the temps rise the SkyHawk/SRF areas is going to be a HUGE mess! He also told me that they were considering Single Rider lines for SkyHawk if not Top Thrill Drag Queen. I rode the train back to middle of the park and made my way over to TDD and settled in for an hour wait (it had just opened for the 1st time since I arrived). I got to see a roll back. The employees are already in a bad mood: I said to the turnstyle girl that I wanted a rollback- she rolled her eyes and didn't even respond! I usually takes until August to develop that attitude! It was my 1st time on the ride and I can definately say I find it over-hyped! It is far to short, though I did enjoy the 1 second view at the top. It goes so fast you can't really appreciate the height in my opinion. I then went over to Disaster Transport to wait in the 3rd longest line of the day- one odd thing is that only TDD had entrance hosts! No one to update the lines or anything on any ride and I did not see any employees on the midway- sweepers, etc. I then rode their Impulse Coaster and I am undecided whether or not I like GL's better or not. I then finally found a shop that was open AND selling cheese on a stick- it ended up being RAW inside. A Foods Sup saw me throw it away, he refunded my purchase, bought me a new snack and a soda- yeah Mt. Dew! I finnished off my ride day with my favorite coaster in the whole park- Blue Streak! I was in the train all alone and it felt a bit rougher running empty. It was a quick trip- I will be back this weekend. All-in-all I had fun, but I got a cramp in my leg on the Impulse coaster and an upset stomach after eating raw "cheese on a stick" batter.

Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
BrownStreak replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was kinda put out when I walked into CP this past weekend and saw a Starbucks! Here is my prediction: CP Season Pass (with access to every CF park except GL and KI) They will then upcharge slightly more than the cost of a one-day to add EACH of the other two parks- thinking it will be up to $160 to get all 3! Me, personally I'm just worried about September's Pride Night! Not so much for the fact that there are no lines- but you get to see all your friends from all over the midwest (and watch butch muscle boys scream like girls)! -
New themepark for Belgium by 2012
BrownStreak replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay this is odd- the map looks like it was drawn in colored pencils or crayons AND it looks nearly identical to a park I drew back in the mid '90's! I will post a pic of that after I scan it in when I get back into town (going to Cleveland this weekend)! I downloaded the pic and enlarged it and it looks so much like my drawings I am truly paranoid!!!!!! -
What are those little spikey things?

Actually Myth Busters proved that a penny dropped off something even as high as the Empire State Building- will not kill you! -
Loops Vs. Hills
BrownStreak replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Put a loop high enough up in the air and it won't impact speed at all -
Loops Vs. Hills
BrownStreak replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know how to do the little up arrows- but that is my point- many of the original looping coasters were filled with hills and tunnels and the loop was just an extra feature mixed in. I liked the way Phantom used to be- two awsome hills and then the loops -

yeah like that only not sucky -
What are those little spikey things?
BrownStreak replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That would be them- but I never noticed the nets being there before- more like the Sheikra ones- just there with nothing attached -
I have noticed for a long time that looping coasters do very little than look anymore- the parts in between mearly connect the various looping elements. Then you have the mega-, giga-, hyper- coasters that are all hills and curves. Why can't we have both together?
-
That I still think they should put one of their floorless coasters on a track less than the width of an Intamin track- cause with their trains, then the people on the outside would have nothing under them AND nothing over them- and with such a norrow track it would be hard to see the track while riding!

Stealth roll-back video
BrownStreak replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So many people say they want a rollback- why don't they turn one of the trains around backwards- or they could do what they had done on the Comet in its last days at Crystal Beach (they turned 1/2 of the cars on the train around backwards). -

The only coaster pics I have are ones I have downloaded from online and I didn't want to repost someone's picture But I think that my question has been answered- thank you! -
Photo TR: Soren Visits IOA and Universal Orlando!!
BrownStreak replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Oh come on, No one has mentioned that the two Deutchlanders are wearing like almost the exact same shirt! -
I have noticed in several pics on this site that there are B&M's that have these skinny little "spikes" jutting out on both sides of the track and there will be a series of these along portions of the track. I have never noticed these while riding any of the 10 or so B&M's I have been on. What are they?

Intamin Mega Coasters
BrownStreak replied to ECZenith's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I mentioned "Intamin" to a friend of mine who is "into coasters," but not enough to know the manufacturers' names. And he said, "Intamin? Isn't that the name of a cookie company?" -
Kennywood Swing Shot too dangerous?
BrownStreak replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I didn't read the article- I watched the video clip and its odd because the topic stated in the title is never addressed in the newclip. That goes all the way back to 5th Grade English! That your title/main idea should be discussed in the report to follow- it isn't its just media BS! -
I really hate the press sometimes....
BrownStreak replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
And every summer shows like 20/20 and 60 Minutes will run a show entitled "Are Theme Parks Dangerous?" or something like that and then proceed to show clips of major theme parks and then focusing on accidents at extremely small traveling carnivals! Never do they mention the actual statistics like for example that you are like what 1,000 times more likely to die in a car accident on your way to the park than you are to be even mildly injured within the park itself! Nor do they mention that the vast majority of rides accidents are the guests' own fault! They figure themselves a way to work themselves out of their restraint and that is somehow the park's fault for not completely immobilizing their riders?! BS! -
Personally I think Pigs are much cooler than Donkeys (seeing as I have five pig tattoos and no donkeys!). My most recent tattoo is a pig riding a rollercoaster up my right butt cheek and down my right leg some maybe my rank should be- I love pigs....or maybe "Men are pigs and I'm in the mood for some Pork!" (Sorry Joey)
