  1. Hershey on the 29th, can't wait because I'm going with some friends who have not ever raced on Lightning Racer (Last time I went there with them they were only running one side of LR, something about a cracked footer on the other side that they were replacing)
  2. Well I'm going to say I have several overrated coasters... El Toro- Ok don't get me wrong, it was insane but as other people have said it is overhyped. Superman Ultimate Flight- After the prezal loop it just kinda died, and sitting on the break run for 10 minutes did not help! Fehrenheit- Its good but not awsome, and this year its rattle has seemed to get worse! It hurt when I rode it last!
  3. I love coasters that you think are going to be just ok, and then you ride them and come off saying WOW! Twister at Knoebels- Such a surprisingly good coaster over shadowed by its neighbor Phoenix. Wild One- Its really fun though from the reviews from last years east coaster trip it seems it was not running to par. Normaly it provides great airtime and laterals. Great American Scream Machine at SFGAV- Maybe I just caught it on a good day but it was running fantastic! Very little headbanging! Skull Mountain- If you sit in the back seat, that first drop has some insane airtime! Sooperdooperlooper- Ride in the back seat for a great ride! (Now I just need to find the overrated thread!) EDIT: I forgot one! Great White at Moreys- I was not expecting the coaster to be that good! The drop was awsome and those last bunny hops gave a surprising amount of airtime!
  4. I don't really find a problem with any restraints but I do like Single Position Buzz Bars (Such as on Phoenix) I love the freedom they give! B&M Clamshells- Same as above Lapbars on looping coasters- Also same as above I don't like Pointless OTSRs- Such as on Rolliescoaster at Morey's, it does not go upsidedown so what is the point of them!
  5. Six Flags America is not that bad. Well not this year anyway! The gangs have been while not totally cleared out have been reduced, and Wild One is good if you get it on a nice day (On a bad day it can be kinda boring but still fun) Trimpers is also good and I do recommend it, the non coaster rides are fantastic!
  6. I have been to Wildwood, and while Morey's Piers are great, I find that the rest of the boardwalk is... well.... nothing special. The coasters are good (Other then the Doo Whopper the Wild Mouse, I prefer the Mack versions of the ride). Great White is a gem and Fly the Great Nor'easter (Who renamed it? Great Nor'easter was fine!) is nice.
  7. All I going to say is WOW. Those trains look nice and they don't have OTSR's, now all they have to do is get SFMM to buy a couple of these and put them on Revolution! As for Lazer or whatever it is called now, It looks really nice! I am very happy that this coaster is being restored to its former glory.
  8. I had a back seat ride on Phoenix once and while the airtime was not as intense as on other parts of the ride it still launched me out of my seat and onto my seat divider! It hurt but was insane in its own right!
  9. Wow that cannot be good! I would hate to be in that last car during the accident, now that would be a horrible ride! I do hope the renovation restores this ride to its formor glory as I heard it used to be really good! As for the 10 million, it makes sense, most of the track is going to have to be replaced, the turns rebanked and some of it I heard has to be resupported. (Something about the way Dinn supported its coasters)
  10. ^^ Not bad suggestions but here is my two cents on them. 1: Viper getting MF trains... Well I cannot see that happening as GCI has never sold them to run on non GCI coasters and why would they replace the trains if it is running fine? 2: I could see them doing this as the coasters attendence ratings have dropped sharply. Add some fire, paint and new trains (B&M Standup trains most likely, not sure what they would have to do to add floorless trains) and you have a new coaster (To the GP atleast!) 3: American Eagle.... Well I could see them retracking it but replacing the helix is not likely as how many coasters have had whole sections of the ride removed and replaced with different elements other the Phantoms Revenge? 4: That might happen, however the steel box is not going anywhere. Some minor updates in themeing would not be a bad thing. 5: Maybe not a coaster but a bunch of flat rides would fit in nicely.
  11. The food there is good anywhere in the park and cheap too! I bought a STEAK dinner (Steak, fries, texas toast and coleslaw) for only $10 and it was high quality food and the best food I have ever had in a Amusement Park. However they only sell this on Tuesdays I think and only at the food place near Phoenix. As Printersdevil said Cesari's pizza is extremely good aswell and the Alamo restaurant is good too, basically anywhere you eat at Knoebels you can expect high quality food that is cheap and taste's great!
  12. Phoenix to me even beats El Toro. Must be the lack of seatbelts and that final run to the station.
  13. There are more people on this one and it has some that we really see here! Read the Admin one, it is great!
  14. Wow that is awsome! It is much better then what SFGAV did to Skull Mountain to add music to the ride (A single speaker in the middle of the ride....) Much better!
  15. SFGAV Hershey Knoebels Morey's Peirs I think I am forgeting one but I have only been to a few.
  16. It was not really that empty, I was just taking pictures before the rides opened (the park is open just the rides are not). Granted though when it started to rain it emptied really quick! As luck would have it I found 4 extra pictures of Phoenix on my moms phone. The quality is not the best but still. Weee!!! I'm on that one, I am in seat three or the back seat... I am not sure which time she took the picture. Turn-a-round.... More Phoenix, It was raining.
  17. This is my first Photo Trip Report on this site so I am going to try to get this right! I went to Knoebels on 6-16-09 to 6-17-09 and I am going to have to agree with what most everyone says, Knoebels is awsome and unlike some other parks I could have stayed much longer then the two days I was there! After our three hour drive from Maryland (and almost losing our brakes on that hill into Elysburg!) we arrived into this place that I could rightly say was in the middle of nowhere. We headed into the camping entrance and there was Twister waiting to greet us! Well first we had to set up our tents so me and my friends set ours up as fast as possible just so we could get into the park as Twister was taunting us, it was almost directly across from where we were camping. Yes the park is that close to the campground! After everything was set up, we headed into the park and after spending 15 minutes trying to find the place to buy wristbands we got one. The Sundown wrist bands are a very good value, $22 for one and they last from 5PM to 11PM. First coaster up had to be Phoenix, and at first I rode in seat 4 which was not bad but not great. Then I decided to ride in seat 3 and.... It was the best ride on any coaster I have ever ridden in my life and I have ridden El Toro! Tons of Ejector Air! We rode that 3 more times before I pulled my friends away and headed for Twister. Twister, what can you say? It is the best wooden twister coaster I have ever been on but it is in the same park as Phoenix so really it is not as good but still it is fun and a nice coaster all together will great laterals and good airtime in the back seat. We rode it 2 times. Then was the Flyers.... What the heck? It was powered by an old tractor and got shockingly close to the trees but still fun. Then one of my friends dragged my other friend onto the Looper. I did not go on it. He proptly got sick and had to sit out on our other rides on Phoenix (In the front seat! Even better then seat 3!) Then we rode the paratrooper, then had some of the best amusement park food ever! Then went to bed. The next day was wet. Very wet. It rained but did you know the Knoebels keeps all their rides running in the rain? Well first we ate breakfast, I walked off to take some pictures (They let you in the park before the rides are open). Once the park opened we got our Wristbands and were on our way. First was the Paratrooper then the Tilt-a-Whirl and my friend got sick again! Then Phoenix 2 more times. Twister was next and it was better then ever and then.... Bumper Cars..... To tell the truth I really do not see what is so special about them but they are still very good! Then the Italian Trapeze (Their Wave Swinger) and then the Whipper. The Whipper was an old and to tell the truth not very good whip but still it was fun! Then my friend went on Power Surge and he said the head did not spin enough, I said that would have gotten me sick anyway! Then it started to rain... Oh joy We then went on Cosmotron and it was really horrible! The cycle was less then a minute long! I guess they were trying to cycle guests though fast because it was pouring outside. We then went back to our campsite to eat and we did. Then we took down our tents and put them in the car so we could ride coasters some more! Phoenix in the rain was better then ever! Best ride! Twister in the rain was awsome! Though it felt like pins and needles were hitting you! Back seat all the way on this ride! Then was Downdraft, we got on it and as soon as we strapped ourselves in it started pouring! We were soaked when we got off that ride! But it was still a great ride made great by the getting soaked and the fact my friends shoe was about to fall off! Then Fandango (Not me!) and Wipeout and OUCH! That thing hurt! Then Phoenix and Twister 5 more times before we ate at the Alamo. Then we rode Phoenix 5 more times before we left in the back seat and the airtime on the first hill in the back seat was so extreme I landed on my seat divider! (They have no seat belts on Phoenix or Twister) I still prefer the front seat however! In all this park beats everything any park I have been to has! It just has a type of charm that most parks lack, it is like traveling in a time machine to a park from the 1920's and it really blends the old and new rides in well! The park is great and I really suggest you visit it if you are ever in the area! Also never think that you will go there just for a credit run as you will just end up there all day due to its charm! Ride Reviews Phoenix This ride is just plain awsome! Great airtime in the front and great airtime in the back! To me this even beats El Toro. 10/10! Twister Really good twister coaster with great laterals and good airtime in the back seat! 9.2/10 To top it all off, Roller Coaster Tycoon 2? The Paratrooper of 5 minute cycles! Roto Jets.... I did not ride them. Supposedly the only looper left operating in the United States. Ok three pictures, the station. The funny thing is that it is my favorite ride in the park but I only took two pictures of it! Phoenix=Best Wooden Coaster... Ever. Other then Balder but I have not ridden that yet. Fandango! More Flying Turns that I hope is open by next year. The Looper! It looks like Hamster Wheels for Humans! Flying Turns.... Is not open yet... Tractor powered Flyers! Twister is almost impossible to miss! Roller Coaster Tycoon? Power Surge Downdraft/Water Ride when it is raining! Good ride though! Mini Himalaya, it was not open yet as it was new (I think...) Sklooosh! Whoever thought of that name needs a reward! (All these photos were when the rides were testing) I missed getting the money shot! Dang.... Yeah they are testing! Only one train however it was like that the whole time we were there on both coasters and the waits were 2 minutes max! Twisty... Twister from the Campground! Same here. For those water slide pipe system nerds. Water Slides! Yes it is green. This is really how close the campground is to the park!
  18. Phoenix Fehrenheit Storm Runner Great American Scream Machine Rolling Thunder Shockwave Loch Ness Monster Viper and of course Wild One Some of these coasters have great names but they do not live up to them.
  19. ^ This year for some reason it really has become the airtime machine it once was, not sure why though. Wait thats a good thing... But really, lets wait till they at least get all the footers poured before we start guessing what it will be, at least by then we will be able to see some of its layout.
  20. Your welcome, if you need anymore help feel free to ask, I am good at toning down intensity on coasters. I cannot wait to see the new/renovated coaster! This park is great!
  21. I think you could keep the cutback with the brakes but you would have to lower that hill a bit which might not be a bad thing cause it would slow the loop a bit. Also as I said you might want to fix that flat turn but if it is not hitting that at a bad speed you should be fine. You could also replace the cutback with an upwards or downwards small helix but that would not look quite as good. LIM coasters are very hard to make and I only know this because I spent 5 days making one for a contest, it won but don't be surprised if the intensity stays in the 9's and the exitiment is in the 6's or 7's. It is a game limitation. I have also found that twists do not really have a speed limit and the loop, 40 mph is a little fast but not too bad. You could also replace the loop with a large upwards helix which would burn off some speed but the ride would still look good.
  22. It looks like it might be taking that Cutback too fast (The corkscrew that sends you back the direction you came) What speed is it hitting that? Also It might also be taking that loop too fast and several of the upwards turns are not banked, hitting turns like that at a high speed (and corkscrews for that matter) causes extremely high lateral G ratings and that in turn causes extremely high intensity and nausea ratings. Try to fix those and see what happens. If that does not work can you post a picture of the whole layout? It just seems that the ride is just taking elements too fast. This park is awsome though, keep up the good work!
  23. Wasn't Turbine just listed as SBNO this season? I don't think they took it out and if they did I guess it would be used for parts or something as there is not much of a market for an old Schwarzkopt Shuttle Loop.
  24. Are there sensors on the antirollbacks? If there are they might have known at the second it stopped on them and as it is a modern coaster I really think it would have them. If not, well I hope they don't have to go to the bathroom!
  25. ^ If it really was a safety violation it would have been in the station not running, not stuck on the lift. The lift motor most likely died or something.
