WDW Magic Kingdom vs. Disneyland Questions
djrappa replied to OISU8P's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Glad you'll get to see it and make your mind up for yourself! I never went to Disneyland as a kid, my first visit I was 20 and I've been a hald dozen times since, and WDW twice. Forgetting it costs me WAAY more to go to Disneyworld, because in my opinion you get a lot more for your money too so that argument doesn't exist for me. For me WDW is just so much more impressive, the scale of the whole 'operation' there is just a thing to behold and just shows how Disney just does it better than anyone else on the planet. And there are so many awesome hotels. However I prefer Disneyland many times over compared to WDW. Robb mentioned earlier that none of the DLR fans can justify why it's better and neither can I, and I'm not saing it IS better, just that I think it's better. All it comes down to for me is that Disneyland just has this 'magic' feel to it for me. I still get goosebumps when I walk towards the park (and I'm 27 mind you) and it just has this charm about it that the Florida parks have. They have heaps of other things going for them but just not this. On my last visit I got to take someone for their first Disneyland experience and just to see the look on their face and the sparkle in their eyes was amazing. Disneyland is the park that started it all and it just has this unexplainable vibe for me. I tell EVERYONE to go check out WDW for sure, but I think everyone also needs to experiene Disneyland. Look forward to hearing how you find it! -

Tokyo Disney Resort Discussion Thread
djrappa replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Nuclear thing is just harious. Yes it's clearly a serious situation, but all we keep hearing is "last ditch effort to use seawater to prevent disaster". If the systems are in place to do this its hardly last ditch. It's almost like because we are so against Japan for whaling we need to find all these ways to make them seem bad. Let's not think about the rest of the time 1/3 of all they electricity comes from good clean nuclear power. Unlike countries like ours where we kill the earth burning coal for no good reason. Australia has the same problem as America where our media needs to make it look like everyone else is clueless except for us. -
Amazing water slides
djrappa replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Which slides are you refering to Robb in both parts of your statement? I'm just curious to hear how the Aqua Loop stacks up as our installation of 4 slides in about halfway through being built at the moment... -
SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread
djrappa replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
And on that Killer Whale topic, I think Elissa was pretty kind in saying they kill those animals, often it involves downright torture and beating them to death before eating them. Kiler Whales in the wild are pretty nasty pieces of work and I certainly think they earn their name! -
Best attraction ever?
djrappa replied to djrappa's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ka has the added fun of being a kind of giant one with a nice 60 foot drop below it... The brothers are definitely the most amazing 'artists' of this act I've ever seen. But screw 250million dollar casino shows, give me a jet powered merry go round! Did they start that thing with a leaf blower?? -
Could this be the best attraction ever? Post videos that you find that are not your normal theme park or water park attraction that get an OMFG reaction! Taken from parkz.com.au http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=4161&view=findpost&p=64225

Yes but where is the ride pictured in that photo? Because I can't find anything else with that messed up 'doesn't look like track' track going on... -

Fantasmic Questions...
djrappa replied to djrappa's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's a shame, at least I can see it at WDW, unfortunate for my other friends who are venturing East. -
Fantasmic Questions...
djrappa replied to djrappa's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Is there an email contact or anything for Disney Dining? Just the phone call from down in Oz is a little pricey -
So I'm hoping to finally see the damn thing at Disneyland this year, never manage to be there at the right time... Will fantasmic be showing any time between the 28th October to the 1st November? And secondly I'm sure I've heard about a dining package down at the square with seating for the show. Am I on crack or can one book this? If so how? Thanks guys, the Aussie A$$holes are very much looking forward to being back in the US.

PhotoBoothe's 2008 Australia Trip Report!
djrappa replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thats very surprising (and disturbing) to hear that the staff at Movie World were rude. Generally our staff are very friendly and helpful to guests and the ride crews do a fairly good job. I've had a lot of bad and slow run ins with Dreamworld staff, so it's very weird to hear things flipped around. I think most of the problems with staff and capacity at our parks here is not the staff themselves but bad policies which they must follow. -

I'm a little late here but yes Robb the PA show is still running. It never closed, they talk about it every year and it looks like its more possible than ever it will be replaced. But they still can't get the time line confirmed. The Mack coaster has been canned but Sea World is getting something much more exciting... stay tuned... -
Six Flags Magic Mountain's New X2 Trains Photos & Video!
djrappa replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Far be it for me to know what is going on all the way down here but from the video Robb posted it sounded like SFMM had DESIGNED the trains and then made S&S build them. That's just the impression I got when he said about S&S wanting to modify things and he not letting them. Anyone else get that impression? -

I actualy know the construction manager for the park but unfortunately don't have any overseas contact details for him -
Just some quick comments on crowds... You'll be coming in on the tail end of our crazy busy season. Crowds shouldn't bee too mental but don't expect the parks to be empty as everyone is still on school holidays and Jan is traditionaly our busiest period. One good thing is every night in Jan Wet n Wild is open until 930pm and shows a feature film in the wave pool after day. Unique way to see a movie or the rides are a total walk on at night during the movie, take advantage of that. I wouldn't pass up Sea World, whilst the rides may not be anything special, the part iteself is very beatutiful and in my opinion still has one of the best atmosphere's of any park in the world. The animals and shows are great, worth a look. Be sure to ride Wipeout, it's unlike any other 'Top Spin' type ride out there, one of my favourite flats. Dreamworld will be busy and has crap capacity so be prepared. Whatever you do ride Giant Drop, the height it just unbelievable. As for our lovely Movie World there is not enough there to warrant skipping rides so have a look at everything, hopefully it shouldn't be too busy for you. The stunt show is great so be sure to watch it, and get there 1/2 hour early for the pre-show. Dirty Harry bar has the best Nachos ever if that's your thing. If you end up coming to see the Outback Spectacular show be sure to give me a shout, we always like visitors up in our dark corner of LCD screens and racks. Enjoy your time here, hopefully the fine weather is now here to stay for you.

Well the contruction manager from work (who also built WBMW in Australia and Germany) and many of the major attractions at our parks here is just about to head over to Dubai to head up construction of a new theme park. I still need to speak to him but this could be the project is is heading over for...

Hands down the Bush Beast from the now defunct Wonderland in Sydney. Only coaster that I seriously though was giving me back problems

Rockin' Space Mountain
djrappa replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow I didn't realise they were throwing this thing into an all day version of the ride now. I liked the original Rockit mountain concept with the ride changing after dark but this way is just crazy. Biggest problem is that lighting technology has progressed so much since the spec was done for this install that it's completely out of date now. IMO Disneyland's Space is the best of the three I've ridden (HK, WDW, DL) with it only beating HK because I like the station and stuff better. I really didn't like WDW for the fact that it doesn't have the very clever soundtrack and its so damn light in there you can see everything. -
Hey there you... Can't believe it's taken me this long to ask but don't you think my tittle should be something as fitting as "Official Aussie A$$hole" Thanks... stuck here at lax with flight 2 hours late grrr

Is this a coaster?
djrappa replied to philcoaster83's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
See this is one of the reasons I still don't have a credit count, that and the fact I really just don't care. But I'm with Robb, to me its pretty obvious what is a coaster and what is not and yes the more you have to justify it the less likely it is actualy a coaster. I pretty much fly with the 'if it's on RCDB' it counts. But at the same time, if the ride vehicle is allowed to leave the track at anytime (as in with a Mack water coaster) then I DON'T count it. -
Liseberg Discussion Thread
djrappa replied to viking86's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong Elissa) that if Balder didn't have seatbelts both Richard Neville and myself wouldn't have lived to survive the UK trip -

djrappa replied to viking86's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
...not that anyone on the UK trip would know anything about trying to stop a boat on a water ride would they... ...or a kiddie coaster train for that matter either
