The Mysterious B&M Green Wingrider Track
djrappa replied to GigaG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Unless DWs parent company has drastically altered their scheduled capex budgeting for the park I don't see a 15-20 million coaster coming to the property. Aussie parks seem to be spending sub 10mil on major attractions at present and Im not so sure a late investment like this would bring them the returns to justify it to their shareholders. Sadly -
^^ Yes Jimmy it has been a bit of a GO TIME in terms of construction here, an we're not done yet! What it means though is in a couple years TPR can come back to a swag of new attractions and those that did the last trip will have much to see. Certainly exciting times for those of us working for the parks.

I'd almost go so far as creating a new thread just for discussion of these trains... First on the theming, Chuck as a massive critic I can assure you the new theming on this ride is much better than anything you saw on Lethal Weapon. Yes most of it is just printed (it is coverd with acrylic though to last) vinyl however at the end of the day it's just a coaster que, it's nothing more. The theming is pretty well done, certainly enough of a solid effort to convey the theme. If this was the actual ride experience of a dark ride I'd call bad form but for a que it's good. Now as for the trains, all of you Vekoma pain SLC lovers out there should have a look at what has been done with these things. I finally got to ride several times this morning before we opened up to the public and it's a total transformation from shit to awesome ride. The train still tracks like a bitch but it really doesn't have any negative impacts on the rider. Basically think of the new trains as riding with only a lap bar and that's what you have as long as your shoulder 'belts' are adjusted correctly. I think Kumbak will do well with these trains as parks can keep their existing wheel bogies and only replace the seat hangers. The magnetic braking just completes the ride transformation to pleasurable.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
djrappa replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The new 4 across El Loco cars at Movie World have that kind of Overhead Lapbar restraint and after riding a few nights ago for testing they are pretty damn comfy and unrestrictive... could work -

Loose items on rides
djrappa replied to reanimated35's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Disney doesn't have a loose articles policy (because they are awesome and 'get it') so you can take anything on every ride, on Calif Sreamin you just sit your bag on the floor even though it has a loop! You'll be fine to film but you'll get barked at over the PA if you have a flash, light, or infared camera on the dark rides. SFMM from memory has your usual storage cubbies and bins in the stations for the coasters and someone else will have to answer if you can take cameras on. -

I think it probably looked grey/green (when it's actually orange) due to the poor lighting provided from the shows sub standard lighting designer! Bloody amatures -

The AOS pavlovas are a pretty good one and a fairly accurate representation of what they are meant to taste like. So if you didn't like it then you probably don't like pav -

Yes the respective park managers asked for a link and I sent it to them just after you visited You're absolutely correct Robb, it's the same on the Aussie parkz forums. Many posts about how management should listen and read etc, funny thing is they do without those posters even realising. Sometimes its tough to know the exact reasons behind negative things happening in the parks and not be able to tell people why, but it has been REALY refreshing to have an group of highly critical yet objective people like TPR come though the properties and give your impression. I don't think anyone has even slightly argued the views you guys have expressed. Of particular interest were the comments most of you had on the dinner show and it goes a long way to explain our current demographic of Audiences. Whilst I think about it every year and never seem to manage, your trip here has certainly made me determined to get off my ass and get out and do another trip with you guys. ...although nothing is gonna top that BBQ that was put on for you guys! Well maybe beers and balder -

And once again a pretty damn fair summary of the parks! Interesting to point out that management are listening to all your opinions I've been approached by several to ask what you guys thought of your visit. -

Yeah I can imagine hope bad it must have looked. Funnily enough Tornado had been open so who knows there! WnW's thing has been a park packed with rides, rather than the most amazing slides. That is Dreamworlds thing. It's rare for WnW to have any attractions closed at all, and only 1 at the most. Real blow for us to see so many attractions down unexpectedly for you guys. The biggest blow was the 4 aqualoops which was even advertised on the trip flyer. On the plus side Movieworld had several rides down over the weekend but the guys did a great job working their buts off to get them all opened for your visit. Haha funny just saw a WnW ad on TV featuring both tornado and aqualoop -

Something went very wrong at Wet n Wild to be sure. I think the combination of the weather and the amount of closed attractions (very out of character) left a falsely sore taste in your mouths. Really the only run down part of the park is the defunct Terror Canyon slides. However I can easily see how the park would give a really bad impression if it was quiet, overcast and with parts closed. So weird, we all thought for certain you guys would LOVE WnW and be more down on the others. Very interested to hear you liked Dreamworld the most Elissa as we tend to think DW as more of an amusement than theme park. It's been a little off the radar lacking a decent capital investment since Giant Drop. However in the last few years new management has seen a big turnaround... SFMM anyone?? -

Robb I've very much enjoyed reading all of your exploits throughout all these cool places, but I'm just concerned with one question I simply must have answered... What did you think of the Wooden Mouse at Luna Park compared to the other Wooden Mouse and how does that compare to other wooden mice you've ridden previously? Also will you be doing a compilation pov video of all the wooden mice? sorry couldn't resist -

It's just not financially viable to open. For the money it would cost to get it running, the small ridership wouldn't give the return to justify the expenditure. When you compare it to the HUGE numbers the non thrill attractions bring in there, you can see why that's the direction they are going. -

I love reading all the Orphan rocker folk law. Sadly next to none of it is true and the real story is much more boring. But the ride does work
