  1. I would actually argue DLR's individual parks are better then WDW's individual park and its a sentiment echoed by many (not all but many) BUT with that said, its the WDW experience. You're in a different world locked away from the rest of society. DLR doesnt feel, at least to me, like its in its own bubble. Its been 8 years since I was last in Florida, but I'd definately jump at the oppurtunity to go again. WDW is the full package. dLR could be a weekend get away.
  2. So I think we've beaten to death the discussion about whether or not its offensive. I think the next question is, what happens next? Is this the end of low-brow halloween shows? You know that the execs will definately be scrutinizing everything about hhn next year to make sure there's nothing that can be used against them in the future.
  3. Ive been thinking the same thing. Hypocrisy at its finest
  4. I'm willing to bet there's a good percentage of performers on that show who are also gay. Does Universal have no backbone to defend their product? It's honestly a real shame and I'm a bit disappointed on their behalf. As a personal critique, I didn't think the show was as good this year as it was in past years, but there was nothing mind blowingly homophobic, more then the show was racist, or any other PC no go. But alas, this is the age that we are in. It's the loud 10% that ultimately wins.
  5. I always thought it was advertised as the first B&M flying roller coaster. Stealth was operating in 2000. Air didn't open until 2002.
  6. This looks really good for a casual coaster designing market. More impressive and powerful then RCT, but I still think the NL2 will be the standard for those very serious about designing simulated coasters. With that said, I can see this catching on more with the GP then NL2.
  7. I just got onto season 3 on netflix (I know I'm slow) but having been through the maze already, it has been pretty cool picking out what elements they liked from the series to use in the maze. I think I still liked last year's walking dead maze better, but this one was still definitely a highlight for the whole event.
  8. I put ZERO faith in anything MiceAge/MiceChat/Whatever would have to say. I wouldn't say zero. Take everything he says with a grain of salt. Often times it seems as if he's just commenting on the current blue-sky conversations running around the WDI department. The key to reading his articles is "reading between the lines." You can get an idea of what the park is trying to do, which more often then not, is the case. Until specific announcements are released, nothing is guaranteed and everything changes. With that said, he has been on point for a fair amount of developments prior to becoming official word. Canceling cast member christmas parties and turning Carthay Circle into a restaurant come to mind. If you read regularly enough, you would know that. I think what we do know, though, is people are buying up merchandise left and right at places like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Carsland. Dedicating whole lands to franchise property, especially one as large as Star Wars, is a no brainer. ANYTHING could be on the table. Why? Because the ends will more then justify the means. Money talks.
  9. It wasnt easy, but we didnt have much choice considering how much time we invested to travel there. Had the park been open friday, it would have been perfect but unfortunately it was only open saturday/sunday. We just had to deal with the ferocity of the PNW. Lol With that said, I thought the hostel was great. I would consider doing it again under the right circumstances. The best part, imo, is meeting people from all over the world. Gotta love those german/australian/irish girls
  10. Yeah the last time I was strolling through the streets of the lbc, there was a guy passed out drunk wbo decided tk get up and walk with us. He was more then happy to tell he was a crip member. A "gunner." He was pleasent enough to wish us a good evening though. Let it be known:some gang bangers do have manners. This would be rad though. The pike is so dead for the most part except when they get business during lunch hours from tbe nearby businesses.
  11. Good Good, it is only a matter of time before we initiate order 66.
  12. I think I agree with El Cucuy being a weaker maze. Especially given how great La Llorona was the past 2 years, it seemed like a step back. It partially felt like one of the better done knotts maze, but it still seemed like it was a tad bit less thrilling then the rest. hindsight, I wish I could have done the evil dead maze. Great report.
  13. I went last night. Overall, very happy with what was there. I got there at opening and ran strait to transformers. The "back first" strategy didn't seem as effective this year, partly because 4 of the park's mazes are accessed through the lower lot. I think I would hit El Cucuy first. The line was not very long when we first entered. There also seemed to be a heavier delay because of people with FoL passes. I don't know if that was mainly attributed to the media or if there was a stronger demand for the passes this year. I hit all the mazes except for Monsters Remix and (regrettably) Evil Dead. I didn't think Bill & Ted's story line was as clever this year, but it was good over. Generally I enjoy it more then I've ever enjoyed the hanging. Had a great night. Look forward to seeing TPR post everything that went on with the Eyegore Awards. Caught this man going into the Black Sabbath maze with his family and bandmates.
  14. Seriously. If any and every zoo could just put a clone of this ride in, I'd be eternally grateful.
  15. The problem is they aren't ever really trained how to handle irate guests and there is always the factor of adrenaline. It took me a long time to figure it out. Probably not till I was 22 and I have been working service jobs since 17.
  16. Wow, they sound very serious about making sure you're stapled. They're threatening to use the perma-ban hammer
  17. Looking forward to getting the credits at silverwood in 2 weeks. I hope there are no significant ride closures.
  18. I think Ariel's Grotto might be a good option. I personally would take that over Blue Bayou. While Blue Bayou is good, I've always found it to be overrated compared to other comparable disney dining options. Other options include Carthay Circle in DCA (In the same ballpark as Napa Rose in price, though cuisine style varies), and Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel tops my list for favorite "casual" disney hotel dining experience. The hotel restaurants are open to the public, though Goofy's Kitchen and Napa Rose will most likely require reservations, especially if you are going with a group. Menus are posted online. You can look at each individual restaurant and decide for yourself. https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/
  19. What has happenned to this park? Its been awhile since I've heard such high praises. Might be time to go back.
  20. I guess you might say that I would... Kill to go to HHN Orlando.
  21. I don't think Iraq would be considered an isolationist country. But there was a proposal to build a theme park in Baghdad a while back. http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2008/04/24/22266/baghdad-to-get-disneyland-style-amusement-park/
  22. Having just road Roar in June, I didn't think it was all that rough. What I disliked about it though is how it loses it's momentum over each major element like the turn around or the camel back. It never really provides too much airtime though it appears it should. Grizzly, on the other hand, has always been considered a "family" roller coaster. Judging by the reaction of those kids, it seems like it serves its purpose just fine.
  23. And from what I'm hearing, even JP is slated to get an update sometime in the near future. Never has there been this much in the history of the park to be excited for. Can't wait to see how it's all changed in the next 5 years.
  24. I think the root of our desire is we all just want something with a lot of strong powerful airtime. Though I wouldn't argue a verbolten style ride. Might even be more appropriate given the parks demographics.
