  1. Time to me to weigh in on this situation... BBW was a great ride IMO, but according to what I've heard, the ride is a maintainence nightmare. Now other parks like the Six Flags/Disney parks manage to keep older, maintenence-heavy rides in operation (Whizzer, Matterhorn) and recently SF has gotten into upgrading their old rides (Monster Plantation, X, Texas Giant, etc). My guess is that BEC/InBev would rather spend the money buying new rides than rehabbing old ones (Le Man's Raceway, Big Bad Wolf). In fact, I can see Le Scoot and Loch Ness Monster going away next. Some of the older flats might eventually be replaced in the future as well. There are plenty of rides at BGW that appeal to families. Most of the flat rides, DarKastle, and the water rides can be enjoyed by the whole family and even though the park's signature family ride is gone, I believe families will come back. Also families can come to the park and watch the shows/see the animals as well. I agree with you 100%. Just about every single flat ride at BGW can be found just about anywhere and none of them truly stand out IMO. Personally, I wanna see some German flats in the Oktoberfest section. If they can run them on authentic German cycles, that would be even better (although I don't see this happening)!
  2. Oooh! Green Medusa!! Architecture, theming, and coasters are amazing! Overall, you're highly talented and I can't wait to see the finished product...
  3. ^ There's a large statue of a Hummel Boy next to the Hummel store in BGW. After you cross the bridge under Alpengeist and make a left, make a right through the castle-thingy and the store+statue is straight ahead. Hummel is a German collectable figurine producer. Most Hummel figurines depict schoolchildren/religious scenes, although my mom has a few Hummel birds. I should know this because my mom was obsessed with collecting these at one point. 4. Seeing those BBW pics makes me really sad... But I can't believe what they've done to that horse! That seriously looks uncomfortable. I really hope BBW's replacement is as good as if not better than BBW was. I'm gonna try and set my expectations high for what's ahead for Busch.
  5. I've officially run out of stamps and will not be accepting offers at the moment. I would also like to take the time to thank everyone for trading with me. I've managed to get brochures from a whole lot of different parks that I normally would've never gotten if I hadn't traded. I really appreciate this. All the offers I"m currently making will go through once I find some stamps. If you're waiting an extended period of time for my brochures to come and I haven't notified you of anything, please drop me a PM. Chances are, I just sent them, I hit a snag and forgot to notify you, or for some reason or another, the mail system really hates me... In the meantime, I'll try and build my collection and complete any offers I've made until I can get more stamps. Thanks again to everyone who's traded with me. - Dan
  6. I had a Thickburger from Hardee's (the East Coast variant of Carl's Jr.) and it was THE BEST HAMBURGER I've ever tried EVER! It was not only twice the size of every single other "big" fast food burger I've eaten, but 2x better! I'd hate to say it, but I thought it was better than Chick-fil-A, which is extremely good. I still haven't tried In N Out or Five Guys, but those are definitely on my list of fast food restaraunts I need to try... Favorites * - Hardees - Chick-fil-A - Panera Bread - Subway - Arby's - Taco Bell - KFC - Burger King - Mc Donald's - Popeyes * I don't regard pizza restaurants to be fast food.
  7. After hearing all this political talk, I've considered perhaps creating a TPR debate forum so everyone can get controversial issues off their chest. Other forums manage to pull off debate sections without any trouble and I think it would be a welcome addition here as long as the discussion remains civil. Rant time: I accidentally missed math class today because of Facebook. Nothing too bad as I can make up the work, but if I miss another class, I might fail so I can't afford doing that... Also... I'm still upset over Wolf's closing.
  8. Farmville and Facebook in general. Add me as a friend and add me as a neighbor... PLEASE????
  9. 2009 really feels like the end of an era... - All these huge celebrities dying over the summer... - Tommy Griffiths leaving Tommy and Rumble - 100.5 Max FM becomes a pop station. - Big Bad Wolf closing forever - GeoCities, the world's first social networking website, is dying this October - I've developed a serious addiction to Facebook and everything it has to offer. All good things must come to an end... I guess with every loss, we gain something new. - I've gone on a lot more trips this summer than in years past. - We've got a new president - I've been able to build up my brochure collection - I'm more confident in my public speaking abilities - I've been able to connect to all my old friends through Facebook - INTIMIDATOR 305 - I discovered TPR! - Dan "Goodnight sweet prince" I'll post my tribute here, Facebook, and Coaster-NET when I can get it done in time...
  10. I wasn't able to make it to BBW's closing. The sky is crying for the Big Bad Wolf as well. Hopefully sunny skies the day Intimidator 305 opens!
  11. ^ I don't wanna sound mean, but there are a whole lot of people here that are trading off SFGAm maps and brochures so its gonna be extremely difficult to get any trades for them...
  12. ^ I really don't see this happening. If just seems very far-fetched that SF would be moving KK's signature ride to SFGAm and removing Iron Wolf. Unless of course, KK might be closing... ^^ The possible giga could be more of a speed-related layout like MF and I305 instead of an airtime-related layout like SD2K.
  13. I got these from Theme Park Brochures and thought it would be awesome to share them. PS: Does anybody have any info regarding the Sesame Place that was operating near Dallas-Ft. Worth? RIP Big Bad Wolf... 2009 really feels like the end of an era. I'm really curious about this second Sesame Place that existed in Dallas during the 80s. I wonder what rides/attractions they had and why it closed? The park has really changed since 1984.
  14. CW could be getting something huge in 2011... Not sure if this is legit but I found this on Twitter not too long ago... Clicky
  15. WOOOO!!! I just got back from my day trip to Pennsylvania and picked up a few more brochures on the way up... Apparently the lady at the information booth gave me funny looks when I was picking these up. I accidentally missed Dutch Wonderland and there were no Dorney Park brochures availible so I couldn't get those so if anybody has those and would like to trade, please PM me...
  16. ^^ Its called a publicity stunt. I posted this on another board and I'll post it here too. Note that this isn't the end of viral marketing. Hersheypark and CP managed to pull this stunt off successfully. As more parks realize its potential, more parks will be doing something like this in the future for all sorts of rides. In fact, CW is doing this for their 2011 attraction right now.
  17. Mmmmm... That DM is sexy! Keep up the amazing work! Can't wait for your next update (and more of the DM).
  18. ^ It was posted two posts above mine hence the ^^ EDIT: I'm hoping for the Disko so the fanboys will cry foul.
  19. I broke out my new 16gig MP3 player yesterday and transferred about 20 songs from my old player and added 10 new songs. I’m planning on transferring the 50+ songs from my computer to my new MP3 player. I had around 230 songs on my 4 gig player plus around 10 new songs and the 50+ songs on my computer, which totals up about 290 songs. EDIT: That's not counting the podcasts, FM recordings, and FLV files I have on my computer that I have to move...
  20. ^^ Zamperla Disko Intamin Spinner some sort of motorbike coaster (the round=wheels) I sure hope it's the Disko.
  21. It looks like a cast of some sort...
  22. ^ Hmmm... IIRC... - SFA has gotten a ton of new waterpark expansions recently. They're getting a Thomas Town next year. - SFKK recently got a major waterpark expansion - SFFT just got a major coaster last year. - SFNE got a Bizarro refurbish - TGE has been getting a number of additions recently - SFOG got a Monster Mansion refurbish - SFGAdv got a Dark Knight coaster and a Bizarro refurbish - SFGAm got a DK and Buccaneer Battle - SFOT is getting a TG makeover - SFMM is getting two coasters - SFSTl got Wahoo Racer and Evel Knievel
  23. Ummm... Did anybody catch this? I posted this on another board and I thought I would repeat it here.. Obviously Universal doesn't have parks in Europe or around Hong Kong (unless you count the new Singapore park). There's no mention of Japan either so my guess is that USJ can still use Marvel. There's also CA, but I can't think of any Marvel-related rides/attractions at USH that will affect anything. Florida is still safe though.
  24. Why does this not surprise me for some reason? I remember not too long ago, I was flipping to Toon Disney, when all of a sudden, I realized the entire network's lineup consisted of Batman, Superman, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Spider Man, Fantastic 4, Power Rangers, etc with the occasional Pinky and the Brain, Animaniacs, and classic/modern Disney Channel cartoons (Ducktales, Rescue Rangers, Tale-Spin, etc). My guess is that Disney has the rights to the SatAM cartoons that used to air on Fox Kids in the 90s and they decided to expand that to possibly include movies, comic books, merchandise, etc. For some reason I don't think this sale will affect Marvel Superhero Island though.
  25. IIRC, the 3 original SF parks SFStL, SFOG, and SFOT aren't fully owned by SF but multiple companies so SF cannot sell off the three original parks. With today's economy in the tank and multiple chains trying to sell off parks, I don't see SF selling anything off because most major chains are selling off (or considering selling off) parks as it is. Honestly, I can see them selling off SFA and SFKK first. Other than that, I personally don't see other parks being sold.
