  1. I'm guessing it will reopen this weekend with the Giant. If it does and anyone is there, please post pictures of the new restraint pads. I'm curious to see how they've changed.
  2. I know of the seat belts; it was closed for a couple of days I thought I read back a few posts. EDIT: Closed starting 9/7/13
  3. Is the Iron Rattler still closed? NTAG is reopening with new lap bar pads from Gerstlauer this weekend; are they installing the same on the Iron Rattler causing the temporary closure?
  4. ^ Most if not all of the 'Master Blaster' slides have a net around the slide. The three I've been on all had net, so chances are we could see one installed later on in construction.
  5. If you ride it in the back it is very smooth, not jerky at all, but in the front it can be brutal; specifically the turn after the two inversions and the transition into the brake run. My sister hurt her neck on that part and didn't want to ride anymore after that.
  6. Every ride at my annual county fair. A kid fell out of the wacky worm last year. Only my school district gets the day off of school for the opening of the fair, so I always go to the Kemah Boardwalk (everyone else goes to the fair) since all of the Houston Schools and Galveston and Clear Lake ISD schools are in session. Everything is a walk-on!
  7. I've actually never ridden a drop- capsule waterslide (despite living less than an hour away from the one at Splashtown) so this should be quite the new experience! I may have to sneak over to the waterpark for an hour or so to try it out. Looks very nice and I'm glad to see more speed slides added to the park!
  8. That URL . . . first YOLO, now it looks like they're going with 'ermahgerd'. I feel like maybe this is a failed attempt with marketing to the teenage demographic (which statistics show has been decreasing in park attendance). They use outdated meme phrases and slang terms. I haven't seen an 'ermahgerd' meme in months.
  9. Six Flags released an image saying to check their website at 8am EST for the announcement, which is 7am CST.
  10. ^^ I'm still thinking about that 'to the B WALK, oops! Said to much!' tweet . . . so it could be the Scooby Doo fence (since it's at the 'B WALK'). I don't know . . . the pictures and the tweets/teasers don't seem to match up! Any chance the pictures were taken off location where the ride will NOT be built? For example, and this is just a suggestion so take this with a grain of salt, they took the pictures behind the waterpark as it is more spacious and will not give away the real location of the ride, which is by the boardwalk? If you take a picture from the boardwalk, it's kind of obvious; where else is there room next to the quarry wall? To us, it's obvious the picture was most likely not taken at the boardwalk, but the GP might not even be able to tell. Perhaps they didn't want to give away too much . . .
  11. . . . And I work tomorrow 5:30am -7:30am, so I know what I'll be doing! Very excited for this years announcements! This year in particular should be interesting given we've gotten many teasers, so it should be nice when we finally know what we're getting and piece together the teasers.
  12. If the trains are themed like NTAG and IRAT, I think it would be cool to see a Stone Medusa head or something on the front (should the Medusa theme continue). This will be an interesting project; can't wait to see the layout!
  13. ^That's a very good point. Perhaps Gerstlauer was sort of an 'interim manufacturer' while RMC developed their trains. I never thought of the possibility of a 100% RMC Iron Horse track & train conversion until now. Definitely a possibility. It will be interesting to see what trains New Iron Medusa II will use; Gerstlauer again, or new RMC trains.
  14. I don't see why they wouldn't continue to use Gerstlauer. They use the same or similar restraint system on a lot of their rides both in and out of the Six Flags chain. The victim's body proportions were so unique that it allowed her to fall out. It could have happened on any coaster, and fate chose NTAG. Had she have been on the Iron Shark in Galveston, or really any Eurofighter and she most likely would have fallen out too. Six Flags will continue with the Iron Horse conversions and Gerstlauer is the go to company for the trains. Gerstlauer is maintaining the parks older Schwarzkopf, Shock Wave, and is quite a prominent manufacturer in the Six Flags chain. Gerstlauer isn't going anywhere.
  15. A Eurofighrer would be excellent. Not only would it be the second one in Texas, but it could be sinificantly longer than Iron Shark; plus, it could occupy a larger footprint.
  16. Maybe 2,323 feet of track? That wouldn't be in favor of the Airplane Coaster given that it was 3500 feet long (RCDB).
  17. The rumors on Screamscape said that it would be mounted to the rear of the tower, so given I know nothing about how they mount these drop rides onto pre-existing structures, what are the chances the supports will be mounted here to eliminate the slant that begins about half way up the rear column? Thick black line being supports, thin black line being 'connectors' to the main tower, and the red line being the actual ride? Original Photo from RCDB. Pardon my terminology in the description, it may sound a little GPish. (ie. connectors)
  18. I'm getting more and more excited each day! 10k inversions? This ride is going to be sick! . . . But really, there is plenty of space in the back to fit a new coaster. Based off of Google Earth, if they wanted, they could even do an out-and-back White Lightning style coaster that rides the quarry wall past the parking lot next to Poltergeist (I'm almost positive it's employee) towards drop off/pick up and back. There should be enough room between the road and the quarry wall. This is going to be an exciting ride announcement! On a side note, also on Google Earth, the satellite images have been updated to show construction of the Iron Rattler. The bottom portion of the original fan curve is still standing, there is one rail of the zero-g-roll in place, and the portion on top of the quarry is done minus the airtime hill off the quarry wall. Also, if you head up North East to White Water Bay, just above the wave pool next to the parking lot, you can see where it appears some track was being painted, plus some very, very orange grass.
  19. So if the numbers on the cameras are indeed the rides statistics, that would make the new ride 165 feet tall (already given) with a 180 foot drop, hitting a top speed of 72mph, with an 85 degree drop. That is really steep; if these statistics hold up to be true this is going to be one awesome coaster. As for the Goliath name, ehh . . . to me it's questionable. I'm getting the David and Goliath reference here, and it very well may be a hint, but (going on a limb here) I'm not sure if SFGAm would use a clue related to religion just out of respect to park guests that adhere to other religions. However, Six Flags has hosted many Christian Concerts, has a Muslims Day Out, so you never know; it's something that should still be left on the table. And, there are many rides already named Goliath so there wouldn't be a hassle with trademarking and such. I'm sure on the 29th, all the pieces to the puzzle will fit and we'll be able to point out the clues exactly.
  20. Well remember: when advertised, these 'records' can be exaggerated. For all we know, the Guinness World Records clue could mean that three records will be set and have no affiliation with Guinness whatsoever. Full Throttle was said to be the worlds tallest and fastest looping coaster when it was announced, which it technically isn't. So whose to say the new addition to the park, which I believe will be a premier launch coaster, will be the tallest, and fastest, looping rollercoaster, again. That would mean that the new ride (should it be based off Full Throttle) will have a 165 foot loop/top hat and be 71+mph. That would make the loop taller then Full Throttle's, and it will be faster as well. It isn't unlike Six Flags to exaggerate the 'records' a little bit, meaning that 2 of the 3 records might be tallest and fastest, and the third I'll leave on the table for speculation. It could be a "first of it's kind inversion", which the barrel roll on Iron Rattler was advertised. It's the first on a hybrid, but not on a coaster, (this is how the claims or 'records' are exaggerated). Just my two cents worth. . .
  21. Whatever the new attraction is, my bet is that it will be in the Southwest territory.
  22. I guess it just depends from person to person, and their ability to withstand high G-Forces as we are relatively the same in proportions. I'm 5'6 and weigh 110-115lbs (weight varies day to day). Your body might just be able to handle more than mine. EDIT: According to the 100% all the time accurate and never failing Wikipedia, human tolerance to high G-forces is trainable and does indeed vary from person to person. This would explain why the effects (i.e. greying out) become less intense the more times you ride a coaster. For example, my first ride on the Titan at SFOT on any given visit, I will grey out on both helixes, but every ride after I will not grey out at all on the second helix.
  23. I don't mind strong positive g-forces, but the problem is I tend to grey out easy. If the forces are withheld for too long it's just longer for me to recover. I usually grey out on B:TR clones at the bottom of the first drop and fully recover by the end of the zero-g-roll, and in the helix after the second loop and fully recover by the first wing over. I grey out on Titan all the time, I greyed out on my first rides on Iron Rattler; positive g-forces are just a little more problematic but I still like that heavy feeling you get. I love Schwarzkopf loops, especially the double loops on Shockwave. And yes, you guessed it, I grey out. After a few rides though, the greying-out effect tends to die down a little bit.
  24. I believe the winning name for the 'name the train' contest RMC hosted on facebook was "Gen 1", and plan on changing the numerical value as new editions of the train are made (ie. Gen 2, Gen 3, etc),
