The official NFL Discussion Thread

^I like what he does with the team most of the time, minus the picks, but yes this whole situation is just pathetic. It is going to come down to whether or not he goes to practice tomorrow, if he does I believe he will stay, if he bails he will likely be a lion or a brown. Fantastic! After a decade of rebuilding from the elway era, we are back at square one. Jay *throws a little sh*t fit over talks of being traded* Cutler has officially asked the organization to be traded. I couldn't even tell you where he would go or who would pick him up. Logically the lions, niners, bucs, vikes all need qb's so one would assume he would end up there, but in a press conference, Bronco's owner Pat Bowlen suggested to Jay that he better be at practice tomorrow and that the organization is not interested in draft picks in a trade. Only time will tell what happens with this organization. -

I think the broncos qb is as good as gone. It's going to take a miracle to keep him there. -
I'm pretty sure it is after the break run, but i could be wrong. but there are some photos on different websites showing the piping for it, and it looks like its after the MCBR. The splashdown is right after the MCBR, though it gets close to the water right before the final brake run. Post MCBR has a splash, pre brake run will just cruise above the water. And great update by the way! Thank you for getting those videos and pictures!

Legendary- TTD is around 3 feet tall if I remember correctly. Last time I saw the model in depth was over Christmas break, and that was a long time ago! Also, Im not trying to be better than coasterdynamix by any means! They're models work and mine do not. However, mine get a lot of hand crafting which I think makes them specialer haha. Like mcjaco said, there's static and operable coasters, mine is merely static. Onward! I only have a couple pictures today because my camera phone is no working, so I took one with laptop. This next process is really time consuming and isn't the most exciting step. Regardless, I have all the ties in place for the lower section of the track and started the diagonal pieces that is typical of intamin. Enjoy!!! Look how excited I am! I really am just concentrating and thinking about how ugly those curtains are! Inside the upper part of the track

Photo TR: Off-Season Aerial Shots over Cedar Point!
themeparkman25 replied to bgroodog's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I am simply saying that for this summer there isn't anything new being built. So the removal of adult trees would classify as "relandscaping" because they are altering the terrain including flora and the actual ground. -

^I noticed that too. But it is already known that nothing new will be built this year, perhaps it is just relandscaping. -

I have only ever been to this park twice in my life, but what is wrong with wicked twister? Both times I have been, the ride was running and running great too. I don't know the story behind this ride I guess, besides they put those little support beams at the top of the support tower to hold up the track. -

The tophat is not a normal tophat though, it does not spiral 270 down. It just does 90 up and 90 down, which is why I think it probably looks a little different. -

Its amazing how they through that building over the lifthill up in that little amount of time. However, I am a little surprised regarding the fact that there is so much track left to install. In multiple pictures posted above, you can see supports that aren't supporting anything including many high ones! This ride is turning out great though, I really cant image the drops, turns and elements all in the black of the building! Great update! -

Absolutely great coaster! I built a knex coaster once but this absolutely is the best one I think I have ever seen. I love how flowy and smooth it is. ^I agree, I would love to see this ride in action! -
^^^Haha that is not all my movies, its just the ones I had room for up here. I have a tiny little desk, that already is a mess, and I am lacking room for more movies. Plus who needs movies when you have pov's? ^^Thanks. I have been given the suggestion of building with styrene next time instead of balsa wood and dowels and I will definitely look into different building materials the next coaster. Whatever it may be! Regarding the working model though, I would be all about it but I do not know how to make the little cars, lifts, etc. Maybe I'll look into it though. And I used to live in Sarasota by the way, that is where the obsession came from! ^Thanks Update- No pictures this time, but I got a lot of work done. The rails are now tied together with hundreds of little pieces. Tomorrow I will get the rest of the little pieces in and some pictures as well. Thanks for all the comments, and look forward to what you have to say! Jordan "When can I own a big and real coaster?" Darrington

I really appreciate all the feedback I am getting on this ride and I am glad everyone likes them. They are all I can do now since I can't have the real thing (for now!!). ^^^Dragster is almost 3 feet tall if I remember correctly. I haven't been home in a long time and I have forgotten the measurements, but if I can recall right it should be around 3'. ^^Popsicle sticks haha, that is awesome!! It would be cool if you could do it that way. I bet you could make a pretty rad Thompson Switchback Railway with them. ^Business is where its at. I wanted to do engineering, but upon talking to many of the companies I realized that was a pretty niche career field. That, the fact calculus isn't the most thrilling thing in the world, and I only speak english and spanish are all the reasons I switched to business. Can you say business partner?! OK, on too the update! Today as well as yesterday, I finished the inside rails which I think are going to be the most difficult part. From here, I will add little cross pieces between the two rails with some angle ones that hold the track together in straighter lines. You will notice in one of the pictures that the two aren't exactly parallel, but the addition of those pieces will pull them together and help make it better! Thanks for reading. I will continue to update as I progress through the ride! Here you can see the rails deviate slightly. I will fix this next! See what a a complicated mess this is dragging a solid copper wire through! Now it has two! This is what I completed last night. It only has a single rail.

Mcjaco- I will definitely check out styrene on the next coaster I make. I was browsing the evergreen site and it looks like it will make models a lot easier to make. I am hoping to knock out Insane before the school year is over (end of April!!) and TTD shortly there after (Say memorial day) and then after that I will be looking for another project! Any ideas anyone? CFC- Thank you! Ill admit, the people on coastersims kind of tore the model apart and that kind of sucks to hear. I know it isn't completely accurate but I still didn't think it was that bad. But I just want to thank everyone! Now, I actually dug through all my pictures on my computer and found just a few, old and blurry ones of TTD. Bear with me, I know they aren't good, but consider it a sneak peek!

New vekoma ride design
themeparkman25 replied to elkingda toroka's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Coasterperson, I'm pretty sure the coaster that is (supposed) to go to SFMM is a kid coaster, nothing large. At least that is what I remember reading. -
I wasn't knocking the use of balsa, just curious as to why you chose it. As a model railroader, I use a lot of styrene for projects, thus my curiousity. I'm more comfortable using it, so I keep grabbing more. Perhaps you could do a test in styrene, and compare the end results? That might be interesting. Keep up the good work! Is styrene a foam? They only kinds of coasters I have made so far have been B&M and Intamin, which one would styrene work best for? If it is a malleable round tubing, that would work a hell of a lot better than solid copper electric wiring. I am definitely curious to know if there are better ways of doing it! Thanks What do you mean whoops? I'm just wondering, Ill get them done eventually. Insane before TTD

^^^^Thanks! SheiKra took right around a year to build. I wouldn't tab it at that amount of time though because I took a long time off between when I finished the actual coaster and when I finished the decor. I also tore apart the helix after the immelman countless times because of its angles and the "not so bendyness" of the wood. TTD took about a month to build the track. And I don't think Insane will take too long! ^^^Thanks! ^^ and ^Too be completely honest, I have never though of using anything else beside balsa wood. I am spacing his name right now, but the guy who builds all the wood coasters and built the model of Led Zap, he used wood so I just kind of assumed I should too. I hope what I have done with the wood though doesn't look too bad, I put a lot of time into them.

Sorry for the double post, I wanted to keep the pictures and stories behind them separate. I will post pictures of Top Thrill when I go home next, the model was way to big to bring up to an already tight dorm room! That model stands approx 3 feet tall and is looking really good. I still need to paint that one and add all the scenery to it. So seeing is how I am always bored sitting on facebook or whatever, I decided to undertake a smaller more manageable coaster for dorm living, INSANE at Grona Land! I just started this one a couple days ago and will post pictures as I continue building it. This model stands only 14" tall and 16" wide and will be built using a lot of left over pieces from TTD. I started this one making "blue prints" just to know what I would be working with (I really just looked at every picture on the thread). Next, I cut out a piece of wood that will act as the base and put lines on it to aid in the actual building process. Next, I built the main support tower. And then at this point, I will add the rails the train doesn't roll on and the boxes that Intamin actually uses. Please enjoy, and excuse me for the wicked mess on my desk! I will continue to post updates as I get further along with the track! End of work- Day 1 First track! support structure Track and support concept "blue prints"
