  1. I know that none of us mean to be discouraging, but I personally don't know where you are running with this park. I asked why Virginia because I just didn't see anything "virginia-ey" in the park, and I know the New River is not green! I think you should take the advice given here and give it your best go, whether redoing this park or starting a new one. Keep it up though, I'd hate to be the reason someone quit.
  2. ^That is true that it did get the amazing looking flyer, but it was still just Superman but all jazzed up. I'm not complaining at all because I think themeing can add a lot to ride, but it still wasn't custom layout. As far as we know now, are we expecting a SheiKra clone due to all the pictures released earlier? Or is it like Dive Coaster at Chimelong, using SheiKira pictures, but getting a different ride? I think they have a LOT of work to do for a summer 09 opening. We are saying "HRP" is going to have a difficult time opening by labor day-they at least have their park built. Thanks for answering those questions though Robb! Can't wait to see this park complete!
  3. I spy with my little eye something that drops at a 90 degree angle! This coaster looks great and all those turns look like they are going to pack a punch! One question though, why did this park get all the big coasters? I'm not familiar with cities in China, but you would think Beijing or Hong Kong would get the custom and record breaking first rides. That is just my two cents at least. Also, when can we expect this park to open?
  4. I can't believe my eyes, I am literally flabbergasted at this entire thing, it is just too funny. As if the entire 5 month operating life of HRP wasn't enough, a bunch of guys that can't run a successful business without destroying the park created their own LLC and are now at the helm of the park. I am going to have to book my trip out there stat!
  5. ^^^^I agree that the park is in shambles, but having it open does cover some costs. I think in a theme park, most costs are pretty fixed and have to be paid regardless if the park is running or not. So if DCA can bring in say x amount of people at y dollars per ticket, that is $xy money into Disney's pocket. So yes it looks ugly, but you at least get some money from some people that help cover the looming costs of renovating, operating, etc. Is California Screamin' running during the removal of the Mickey face?
  6. Were they always apart of FPI or did they join after the failure?
  7. They are a newer kind of coaster, with the first ones being built in 2007. There is only three in existence right now, one being this one and the other two at Terra Mitica and Linnamaki. However, those two have a simpler layout and were riddled with technical problems. I am pretty sure that is the reason they haven't 'boomed", but perhaps the more sophisticated layout of Insane will change the minds of some parks. They look fun and should be pretty cost efficient. Can't wait to see this done and to being testing!
  8. How much did this ride cost? I can't image too much.
  9. I'm rather new to TPR and don't really know much about people, but from the advice he gave he seemed like he knew what he was doing. I guess I could be wrong, but in my eyes he gave good advice.
  10. Thanks for all that information, I like knowing the works of this kinda of stuff. But you said that some of the future profits, if there are any, will be paid to some of the creditors that just lost untold amounts of money. I didn't know that was part of the deal of chapter 7 bankruptcy. Also, I thought of the $25 million paid by FPI, it would be paid to some of the creditors with about 10 cents return to the original dollar. When you say nothing was going to get paid, what do you mean? Jordan "I'm a finance major" Darrington
  11. This park seems very scattered and not very well laid out. Sorry! Keep trying the tips that Ghost said, he's a smart fella' and I know he's got the right idea. Keep trying, it'll pay off! EDIT: One last thing, why Virginia?
  12. ^^^That is really weird that the new management is partly owners that ran the park into bankruptcy. But my question is, why did the Delaware bankruptcy court allow FPI to buy it if it just consisted of old owners under a new name? I don't agree with that decision now especially when there was other companies interested that were willing to pay a little more.
  13. No this means over spring break I can imagine it into existence and that it is working perfectly! Does anyone know what exactly is going wrong?
  14. Great flyer and I think the park looks great! Can't wait for the next update!
  15. Weak! I just read over on screamscape that xcelerator will be down until at least April?! There goes my spring break plans! Does anyone have any idea why? What was wrong when it closed last time?
  16. Haha I like how the two people commenting on this are from Colorado. I agree with what you had to say Goliath, but Denver still is a mountain city if you think "big picture". I mean, it only is 15 minutes from Denver to the foothills. So why not allow Colorado things to be used, its not like SFOG has only Georgia stuff.
  17. Haha ok sorry. I think if you eliminate the straight section before the final brake run, then you could shave a lot of of the length of the station off. But if you also just made the last hill go into a banked turn which lead into the final brake run, then you would have the perfect station length. At least that is what I think. Its a good coaster though, don't get discouraged!
  18. Perhaps you could have made the final turn into the station a banked one, thus eliminating the brake run before it, and then used the extra length of the station to house the brakes. Does that make sense?
  19. This goes way back to construction, but what is the point of the largely offset supports on the lifthill? By this I mean, instead of having the typical upside down "v" supports found on many B&M's, why does Diamondback have vertical supports that lead into two diagonal supports? Is it strictly so that the supports do not lie in the middle of a walkway or is there another reason?
  20. I think you should make something Colorado themed, since the park is SF over Denver. Maybe some giga coaster named avalanche or perhaps a gold mine themed ride.
  21. I'm not getting those pictures to work, is anyone else getting them to show?
