Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
CpBluestreakCp replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, it's Gatekeeper cause of course it flies over the main gate, as if it is "protecting" the park. I'm sure the keyholes were just pure coincidence since the name of keyholes were around before GateKeeper was. But, pretty cool how it all goes together, I was a fan of the name more than Lotan. Whether or no that was actually considered or pure speculation. -

^The B&M coaster that have been built in Asia as of late, seem to have more forces than the American ones. I think that's what he means. -

Can't wait to see these start testing. Seems like this ride will be quite a light show as well. I'm sure the keyholes will light up, the main lift structure, and the trains. Really going to be something to see at night. -
Even know the forces will probably be more of a presence on YOLOcoaster, I'm still going to have to go with GateKeeper. I've been hardly waiting for Cedar Point to get a new coaster since Maverick and now they're finally adding one that seems to tie into the park well. Only thing Cedar Point needs now is a new woodie. Not only that, but I see myself riding GateKeeper more than riding YOLOcoaster anytime soon.

New B&M trains on Steel Dragon

Seems like it should be an improvement from what it was before, guess we'll just have to wait for that first review of it. -

Looks great, love the open area near the beach. Will look like you'll be able to get some good shots of Wicked Twister now from that vantage point. -

Where exactly is this all going to be located at? I'm unsure by looking at the pictures, anyone know? -
Bringing this back.. Just wondering, Robb, what kind of camera are you using right now? I was hoping to head to Cedar Point this year and take some off-ride videos of some of the coasters and was wondering what you use. For a good high quality video, would an iPhone be enough? Just wondering if I can get some good clips of coasters using it or if you've ever used an iPhone or any phone of its type for videos. If any one else has ever used an iPhone too, it would be great if you could help. Thanks a lot!

Most Ghetto Park You Have Visited

Probaby Conneaut Lake Park. I love the Blue Streak there, fun ride, but it's a pretty run down place. I also haven't been there in a while, but I don't see it changing much since I have. Would love to see this park grow and stay, it's a fun little lakeside park. -

Looks really cool, seems like it combines all the best of the Rocky Mountain coasters. Love it! -
Top Roller Coaster Myths & Rumors!
CpBluestreakCp replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I remember seeing that somewhere, too. The coaster was supposed to go into the campers area. It was denied because they didn't want to ruin that area of the park. -
Top Roller Coaster Myths & Rumors!
CpBluestreakCp replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not even sure if this is true or an actual myth. But, I've heard from some people in Millennium Force's debut year, a piece of an support in the first overbank was removed because a man got his hand chopped off from it being too close to the track. I also heard Intamin just later found out about the track clearance and removed it before the season. Either way, there is a gap in the support, and it was removed for some reason. -

I can't believe construction is already done on the track, felt like just yesterday they were pouring footers, *sniff*, Gatekeeper grew up so fast. All jokes aside, kudos to Cedar Point! -
What is your local park?

^Now that's pretty cool. Do you have a good view from your house of the park? -

I'm a little over an hour away from Cedar Point. And when Geauga Lake was open, about 20 minutes or so.
