I've heard the reason why we haven't seen many (or any) is because of insurance reasons. The fact that there isn't any restraining devices is not a help, either. -Bryan "would love to try one sometime" Wood

Fantasical. This is perfect thread for the random board. Perhaps taking that air-horn around and getting closer to people walking and stuff could be a future video? I'll bet you'll get great reactions. -Bryan "does this to people but doesn't have a video camera to record it" Wood -

Wild Adventures is the closest park to you with a Chance Pharoah's Fury (which is pictured). Either that, or you went to a fair. -

Many have told me Astroland's Top Spin is by far the best-run and intense top spin out there. -
Thanks for the report, I'm looking forward to my third trip to CLP this summer, and the first in a while. So many people like to rip on this place, but I always have fun here. Heck, their fresh cut fries are just as good as Kennywood's! -Bryan "back seat on the Blue Streak is wild" Wood

Not big at all. From what I gather, it's a enclosed family coaster. Regardless, I'd love to get to Iowa's Adventureland...and hopefully will in 2007. -

Photo Trip Report: Camden Park 5/29/06
TheGreatOne replied to J.R.'s topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
All right! Camden Park stories! I went in 2002 and I hated their log flume. It was all cattails around the circuit, the water was green and it only splashed on the final drop, and just enough water came up over the front to splash the front rider...me. I had a grey shirt that had green on it. Blech.... On a good note...this park is known for their crazy flat ride cycles. I rode their Spider on a 7-minute cycle, directly followed by the Tilt-A-Whirl for 6-minute cycle. Both rides ran insanely fast; It made me sick, the first time it ever happened. So if anyone is going...make sure to cover ever flat ride...you never know when you'll get an insane ride for the ages. Are Camden's new Larson flyers running yet? -Bryan "Camden's Whip, Spider and Tilter are my favorites anywhere" Wood -

Xcelerator back in January wasn't rough, but it had a pretty nice vibration/ricketing (it's a little hard to precisely explain) action. It wasn't enough to make the ride bad, but it felt like it was close to that point. Still a pretty nice ride, though. -Bryan "I take it over TTD" Wood -
Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
TheGreatOne replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
3.3 million in 2005 [source: Cedar Fair Press Release, 5/22/06], the best in Paramount's chain. Not bad for a park that's closed half of the year. I'm so tired of ignorant enthusaiasts who think that just because a prk has a bunch of coasters that WE don't care for, that people don't. The simple fact of the matter is that a lot of people just want a day of escape and turn to parks to do just that...to unwind and have fun. So what if 10 of the 13 (I believe) coasters there are clones? Most Canadians will never ride another one of those rides. Evidence #1: I believe Derek's TR mentioned the SLC had a 90 minute wait. Evidence #2: Look at Wild Adventures. It's Vekoma and clone city, but they manage great seasons. They've been slowly climbing up the chart on Amusement Business' Top 50 attendance list. They had 1.4 mil in 2005, good for 38th best. 1.4 mil is fairly impressive considering there is no major or mid-major city within 1.5 hours of Valdosta (Tallahassee[255,500 people], Jacksonville[1.6 mil metro], Albany [76,939]) and with Atlanta being 3.5 hours away and SFoG firmly planted there. When will enthusiasts learn that there is more to a park than roller coasters? Jebus...it's about the whole package! Why else would parks be turning to adding more family-friendly packages instead of massive thrill rides every other year? -Bryan "Amusement park enthusiast, NOT coaster enthusiast" Wood -
Legoland Kansas City
TheGreatOne replied to MSLSM's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
...Let alone heard of it. Most people in Ohio haven't heard about it at all and are surprised when I talk about a "Lego theme park". I'd imagine most people outside of SoCal (and maybe parts of Arizona and Las Vegas) haven't either. -Bryan "I'm all for a Legoland not 2500 miles from me" Wood -
Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
TheGreatOne replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The remainder is going to be used to pay off some other things, according to the conference call yesterday. Don't expect most (if not any) of that money to be spent on expansions. My God, have you not read this thread? I think two or three people have said that Bonfante Gardens is part of the deal. -
Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
TheGreatOne replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's because they got into a very ugly battle with the local government over water/sewer (if I remember correctly). That dispute has been resolved and CF is putting in it's first major additions. You can't totally blame them for that. Michigan's Adventure didn't have any expansion contracts signed with a ride manufacturer (even though most people bought into rumors of such) before Cedar Fair bought them...so they had nothing to honor anyways. They key word here is contract. If the park had a major ride contracted already (which none do according to Kinzel), they would've honored it. Contracts and plans are completely different...because contracts are legally binding. -

TheGreatOne replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I also fall into the skeptical view of this deal. However, one of the CF head honchos had this to say in the conference call. There are plenty of places for families to go in Ohio. They are still competing with non-park places to attract families and guests. Kinzel also had to keep shooting down people bringing this up in the conference call. PKI and CP do not compete! They're a good 4 hours away from each other. That would be like saying Six Flags over Texas competes against Six Flags Fiesta Texas. It doesn't happen. CP's top three markets are: Detroit, Cleveland, Toledo. PKI's are: Cincy, Columbus and Indianapolis. While they do slightly overlap in Columbus, Dayton and Indy, it is not enough to qualify them as competing parks. They do not compete in each other's major markets in the way that Los Angeles or Orlando theme parks do. -

Actually, they have the Nickelodeon names for 3 more years and they said they might license the names in the same way Paramount Parks did. and...Bonfante Gardens is going to be picked up by CF. -
