  1. I guess the funniest thing about the POV on Magnus' is that it seems to have been filmed in sloooow motion - and yet this is not the case, in fact I think you have cheated there Robb and actually speeded things up The park was in fact brilliant, and the theming incredible. None of this fake plaster cladding that many parks have - if they built a temple, it was a temple of real stone, when you see the hieroglyphics, they are properly carved in stone and painted accordingly. Mitica took theming to the extreme however- so when in the Greek section, they sold for example tea towels with Santorini featured. Well hello dudes, this is Spain, just a spit from Benidorm, not Greece- give me some Mitica souvenirs! Great ice cream however saved the day TUTTI FRUTTI
  2. TOP pics chap. DK at night = right click wallpaper. BTW what is cocked? (not sure I want to know really) Cheerio smiler.
  3. ^^If you are staying in a 5+ star hotel with 6 swimming pools, the most amazing garlic mushrooms for breakfast (as well as any other food you could think to eat) and are a 5 minute bus journey from Terra Mitica (including a random roundabout ride en route) then it is a TOP place. Other than that, I would transfer Draky and the other assorted rides and the brilliant plastic theming to Zaragoza and then completely obliterate Benidorm, which is a pustulant wart on the face of a simply stunning country. This is of course IMO.
  4. ^correct - you have seen it previously Chuck.
  5. Because, and as it has been pointed out a few times now, they are busy actually managing the trip and the Germany add on is an incredibly tight schedule. Being lucky enough to have enjoyed the Spain part - trust me the updates will be worth the wait, so sit back, relax, and be patient and all will be revealed soon enough !
  6. I guess I have to disagree - I've seen lots of drunk monkeys, many of whom were on this trip.....(I'll give you they weren't riding bikes, just planes, trains and buses...but given half the chance!) also I think Manas had a few brothers and sisters and they were totally tanked and the best way to ride this beast is also to be out of your skull and that way you do not need to spend so much money on pain relieving drugs because you can combine the ride pain with the hangover pain and all is good
  7. R&E - thanks a million, stupid stupid me for not doing the add on! (I really should have known better) - great flight back - mainly because 'The Brits' were unconsious after a major farewell night in the bar with the Panthers - we did not hear the alarm and catching the flight at all was touch and go (sound familiar?) Looking forward to seeing further updates as and when - we are heading off to Brighton Pier to ride the Bouncy Bouncy, (sad and pathetic add on - but still it should be fun) and probably we will hit a bar or two to see if we can piece together what happened when and where. We will have a drink for each of you then we will DIE. Oh - and lets see more of BIG MIKE - who is so cool it frightens me 8) Cheers all Steve C
  8. I've got to agree with Roy there - the weather has been completely cr*p
  9. As ever Rich, thoroughly enjoyed your report and you need to do more! Now let me see..... 'Wasn't a big fan' 'Everything else about this ride was junk' 'No love for Grizzly or Hurler as I hate them both' 'I kinda like this photo....but this ride is crap, just like the Beast' 'Darkastle....what a let down' And yet everyone thinks it is CanobieFan who is the hater-?? Looking forward to hearing and seeing you hating some more in Spain keep rolling it out.... Corky
  10. Congratulations and I hope all 3 of you are now settling down to this new life of fun and tauma (well trauma for the parents - kids and kidtums just have fun I think)
  11. I only WANT to ride Hades, and it is worse still because I will have no chance until 2008 at the earliest to do so. Of course I want to ride a million other coasters I have never been on but HADES is the one I want to ride right now, this minute, get me on a plane and to hell with the expense
  12. Well I was pleased to see that all the woodies I rated as '1' (because I can't cope with rating them all individually) were in the top -60!!! I WAS surprised that there were only 490 completed ballots given the size of the TPR community alone. So for anyone who didn't vote and looks askance at the end results, just follow the tips given by Robb/Coasterfanatic, keep it relatively simple ( I only have 6 categories but next year I think I can break that down further to say 8 ) and get your vote in. My personal views are: Voyage No.1 ?? - get a life BPB - Wild Mouse - come on you none voters who have ridden this, get voting!! Cornball IN - glad to see you in the top 25, you belong there. As for Thunderhead and Hades on a tie at 07- all I can say is they are my most anticipated not yet ridden coasters - so I'll see what I can do about that in 07 Steve- it really is all too technical for me-C
  13. I don't know the answer to this one but I can certainly agree that a cherrypicker is not the way forward, as can be seen on a short video clip at http://www.ebaumsworld.com/2006/07/rollercoastertragedy.html (you will need to scroll down the page to where it says download video) I wouldn't like anyone to view this and be taken by surprise as it is pretty grim, so I'll tell you now what it shows which is a drop tower (I guess about half way down) and stuck. The cherrypicker is in situ and the ride suddenly becomes unstuck and the results are not good. (and I mean tragic) Anyway I hope the clip is actually a 'spoof' as you never can tell for certain with these things, but spoof or not - it's NO to the cherrypicker for me.
  14. Sorry Ted - it must have been the beer and hard liquor that made me think everyone was there including your good self and the good lady. Anyway I'm pleased you stayed with coffee and did something useful!
  15. So Ted - not satisfied with the Balder hammer experience - you had to go nail something else?? Q1- Did you get to keep the hammer? Q2- Did you use the Balder hammer? Q3- Did you have beer and hard liquor beforehand? Q4 -Did you completely bust up the ride and the opening date has been put back 6 months? Great pics- you are very lucky to be able to get to experience a work in progress and thanks for sharing
  16. The helix on Titan, did me no good EVER!
  17. Happy 21 Lou. Long time ago for me (you were not even an egg), but I have a distant recall of going out for a pizza, (pizza was novelty food in those days) getting totally wrecked and then taking all my clothes off on the stage at Johnny's night club in Huddersfield! I'm sure you won't make the same mistake-well at least not in Johnny's Enjoy Steve C
  18. The dates are not school break/vacation/holiday times, as schools (take this as throughout the UK for a reasonable guide) will usually finish say 21st July and take a six week break. The reference on the Oakwood website should really read 'just when you thought you could come mid-week and it would be quiet because the schools are not on holiday just yet......think again, as we have promoted the park heavily to the schools as an end of year treat idea for the kids!' Anyway - there you have it, I think it is similar practice around the globe, basically take the big year change break and count back two weeks if you want to get around the park avoiding the queues. (kids - little b******s) If you are planning a trip, I'm sure Meteornotes will agree, the weather in the UK in June is good (enough) for all but the coldest of waterparks/ water rides Good luck with the planning Steve C
  19. Blimey Rich.....Signature moves, Merrells, and uber witty PTR captions along with fame on the AR thing - you will obviously be deserving of your own fan club right now 8) Seriously though, I enjoyed the report, and interesting observation of the mating of roller coasters and their subsequent spawn specifically Cheers Steve C
  20. Yay - a great shout out for Cornball which was my No.1 for the last 4 years, until I rode Balder.
  21. Well they also gave us BEER before we got to ride, and some wooden drink coasters (geddit ) just to make sure we would (or is that wood) never forget the awesome Balder experience. Yay
  22. Wow Chuck - I too missed the MM Dark ride and I have only been to BPB about 60 times No problem though as I am back in October and I will make a point of taking it all in -yay
  23. well the apocalypse should be well under way now in Oceania - anyone heard anything from the Land Down Under recently??
  24. well I hope I don't make matters worse by saying this seemed more to belong in the rant thread than a TR. It seems you had a raw deal from matters not of your making but I reckon this made everything else 'RED' to the point I would have to ask why are you going back? - hopefully of course to have a better time. Thanks for the update on Sky Hawk - I was fairly gutted that the ride was down a couple of weeks ago, in fact it was the only ride I had not done at CP (of the current rides available that is) so was extra gutted I missed the chance as I won't be back there for 2 years!!!!!!!). Well - I look forward to seeing a Photo TR soon including shots of cooked food and happy ride ops! Good luck with it all SteveC
  25. Thanks for the great updates Robb- as usual enhanced significantly by the observational captions! The Voyage has so many different aspects in one ride - the quirkiest I thought was what I call 'the side hill' just before you go into the 1st of the 90 DEGREES. The track takes a shallow bend at nearly 90 DEGREES and you go round the outside and are simply ejected sideways at full speed. WOW - hurrah for restraints then. I have never ridden a wooden coaster with that element before. I hope I didn't imagine that Definately the Voyage is my No.1 'single ride' experience (not to be confused with single rider) and certainly in my top 10, but the Kentucky Rumbler is assured a place in my top 5 no doubt. Cornball Express is still my No.1 - can't wait to ride Hades, but that has to wait until 2007 Crikey, Joe (Parktrips) certainly gets about. Joe you seem to have at least as many randomly spaced trips as R&E you lucky man. SteveC
