  1. ^^That's pretty much my view of Scream! as well. It's not like "holy crap this sucks, I'll never ride it again," it's just not thrilling or enjoyable for me. Is it my fault that I don't like it? No. Do I think someone's an idiot because they like it? No. It's like a smaller version of the Millennium Force debate. Some people love it (or maybe just like it in Scream's case), and others can't stand it! To be honest though, I'm just not a B&M kind of person at all, I'm more Intamin oriented (which sucks cause there are so few good Intamins in Cali). As for Batman, I do enjoy it when I'm on it because of it's severe @$$ kicking, but it's way too short for my total liking. So it's also in the meh category for me (I prefer Silver Bullet because of its height, length, and original layout [especially the overbank! ]) Edit: Is it just me, or do we seem to have the Scream! debate once every 1 or 2 months?
  2. What about the zero-G roll on Scream? I find that part of the coaster to be forceful and it is one of my favorite single elements on any coaster I have rode. I will admit, the zero-G roll is the main redeeming quality of Scream. I actually do enjoy that part a lot, but the rest of the "meh" ride just overshadows it in MY opinion. That said, I'll probably be riding Scream tomorrow. Who knows? Maybe it'll be one of those "once in a full moon" rides.
  3. ^Really good job man! An hour isn't bad at all for a 10k! I set a personal record when I ran a 5:40 mile yesterday! I reaaaaaally want to top that by a ton by the end of the year though.
  4. And its reasons like that that make me dislike the coaster enthusiast. I guess I can't understand how you can truly hate a coaster when it really isn't that bad of a ride. Granted I am only at this park maybe once a year, I just can't fathom how you can say you hate a coaster. I mean, look at 98% of parks in the world, I guarantee they would open this coaster with open arms (as they likely have an SLC/Boomerand/Butterfly/Tivoli). Yes, the ride may not be the smoothest in the world, or the most original for that matter, but is still a quality coaster. Hell, if you really hate it, send it out to Colorado, we'll gladly take it. Okay, I lied. I don't hate it. The only coasters I truly hate are Ghostrider when it's rough, Hurricane at SCBB, Kong, and Vekoma Boomerangs. I just really don't like Scream at all, it's rattly and extremely boring. It almost always gives me a headache, and I always tend to be surprised when I can feel a noticeable amount of force on it. I could probably get the same experience by sitting on a chair during an earthquake! Sure it'd probably be much more prominent in any other park, but as RcFreak said, if it was the headline attraction, it'd wouldn't be a very good park! Now one may make the point that SFDK has a similar floorless coaster as its headline attraction. However, I actually enjoy Medusa a lot because it doesn't have nearly the same amount of problems as Scream (and it's also built over a parking lot, so don't even try the "I hate it cause it has no theming argument" ). It's got an airtime filled drop (in the back), actual force, and it doesn't feel like you're riding a jackhammer. The reason I dislike Scream so much is that it has so much wasted potential. B&M floorlesses, as evidenced by Medusa, CAN be good, it's just that Scream frankly isn't. No matter what park you put it at, it's not that great of a ride. My opinion, however, may be flawed due to the mass amounts of B&Ms I have around me. I've come to expect a certain quality (albeit, the California B&Ms sans Medusa really aren't thrilling in the least bit to me) from B&M coasters: smoothness, and some force. Riddler's does it for me, Batman does it for me, Tatsu does it for me, hell, even Silver Bullet can do it for me. Scream only gives me a "California B&M" quality experience about once every five times when the moon is full and the humidity level is 78% etc. yada yada yada. If it can't even match up to our not so highly ranked rides (except for Tatsu which actually is pretty highly ranked, but gives a completely different experience), then it really just isn't that good. So in conclusion, I think my low opinion of Scream may just be based off the fact that similar rides, which aren't even THAT amazing, can do much more for me than that big ol' thing. I'm sure that I lived in Colorado or some other place with no quality rides around for miles, I'd probably be much more fond of it.
  5. I'm always amused when people try to use this argument, cause if a headline attraction rode that bad, I wouldn't visit that park much. Agreed. Also, I never said that Scream! isn't worthy of a line, I merely stated that it usually has a very short line (which is a fact) to give the poster reference to how large the crowds would be. That said, I still do hate Scream!
  6. I went to SFMM on Saturday, April 25 last year. These were the lines I encountered: Riddler's Revenge's line out of the queue. Which is a VERY long (length and time wise) queue. Scream, which never has a line, had this line when I first looked at it. It grew even longer later in the day. So yeah, definitely look into Flash Passes or VIPs or whatever other BS SFMM offers. You're probably going to need it.
  7. "Slambang" sounds like a Friday night at my house. But it does sound like a cool idea for a show. Anything with Jar Jar in it HAS to be good.
  8. I just finished a lot of BJs. As in Book Journals. The world's most ridiculously pain-staking English assignment ever.
  9. I for sure wouldn't want new trains on Goliath. That has to be the smoothest ride I've ever been on.
  10. Cool PTR. I305 just looks absolutely amazing. However, We don't have lift hill enthusiests on this site. Just Six Flags ones.
  11. Excuse my ignorance, but is this Mirabilandia in any way affiliated with the one in Italy?
  12. ^Isn't that your Inta-Woodie environment that changes the lift hill and texture of the supports? Maybe that's what he means.
  13. ^Haha! I was going to post that! It also calls Theme Park Review "Barking of the Dogs." And then there's this...
  14. I need to search Topeka for better pranks. All I've done was post an FB status saying that "I got so laid." Of course, everyone knows that's not true!
  15. It's not going to be a clone! I asked at WCB, and apparently it'll look pretty much the same as Eejashamalamadingdong in Japan from above, but will have a slightly different layout. Edit: If I had to guess what will be changed, I'm imagining the full full will be taken out for just a standard back flip ala x2
  16. If anyone was wondering, Paradise Park opens April 9th. That should make the area much prettier and easier to navigate. Note: The construction walls are supposed to come down tomorrow, but there will be guards and barricades keeping you from walking in. As for the Maliboomer, I actually enjoyed it a lot, so I'm definitely gonna miss it. It would be a pretty good fit for SFMM...but yeah, I'm on the Gyro Drop bandwagon. Edit: Ew. Although I guess DCA is rarely open past 8 anyway.
  17. To be fair, 9 year olds (myself included when I was that age) will say any tall ride is the "best ride ever!!1!1!1111!!." And the smoothness is a given with today's ride design technology! That said, the positive force on this thing looks beyond beastly, and the airtime on the first hill looks pretty good too. I can't really judge since I'll probably never ride it, but it looks like those trims REALLY kill the airtime on the 2nd airtime hill. That said, I'm going to hold off any validity to that comment until we get some actual reviews of this thing.
  18. ^You Coloradan @$$!!! So is there seriously someone who says "M'kay" a lot?
  19. I tried it once...and hated it. It was so boring, and I felt like (even more of) a loser.
  20. This pot place right by my house serves as the inspiration for tomorrow night's South Park episode. YES!!!!
  21. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. (It could be a shooting dark ride or some kind of BS like that...)
  22. Great TR man! Especially for a first. You actually got some really nice pictures there, I'm thoroughly impressed. I love the ones you got of Tatsu, especially the pretzel loop from Orient Express, and the egg turn. Some damn fine captions too, especially the Flight of the Conchords and Jersey Shore references, whoever thought of those must be an absolute genius! But seriously, it was quite an entertaining PTR. Thanks for sharing!
  23. No tours, but the park manager estimated it'd be back up in about 3-4 weeks. I had an awesome day today, I really really really wish I could've gone to Magic Mountain though Oh well, next year! Thanks for the great day!
