  1. So Robb isn't sterile after all. Or is he. Congratulations though ! To a healthy kid !
  2. More photos... ( http://freizeitparkweb.de/cgi-bin/dcf/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&forum=DCForumID2&om=2454&omm=149&viewmode= ) Naked trains. The vertical loop came right after these holes. Demolition continues...nearly all the outdoor stuff is gone.
  3. Ok, a German newspaper announced that Zierer is building a Tower Launch Coaster for "Salt Lake City". No actual park was named, but could this be the Lagoon coaster ? Everything matches the rumors and the rendered ride seems to fit the construction site. Especially the trench / tunnel is clearly on this ride as well. A quick translation: It will be the biggest coaster ever constructed by Zierer. It goes to Salt Lake City in the US state of Utah. It will open in Spring 2007. name: Tower Launch Coaster height: 35 m (115 feet) length: 625 m (2050 feet) speed: 90 kph (56 mph) trains: 5 (each one consists of a single car, holding 8 passengers (2 rows of 4)) The trains will be launched vertically along the tower by LSM. At a height of 35 m (115 ft), the train crests the hill and drops vertically back to earth, reachin a top speed of 90 kph (56 mph). The ride features a camelback hill (according to the article after the drop, altough the rendering only seems to have a little speed bump), a horseshoe turn, a zero-g roll, an Immelman and a "half pipe" (two compact vertical turns, like a snowboarder or skateboarder would do in a half pipe) Trains are lapbar-only ! The park insisted on having lapbars instead of the usual over-the-shoulder restraints found on most inverting coasters. The final tests will be completed at the Zierer factory in Neuhausen (Germany) during the following weeks, then the final containers will be shipped to the USA. A large amount of ride pieces is already on it's way. The new ride type has a cost of between 4 million and 6 million euro, depending on the size. 4. Gardaland announced a mine-train (Vekoma) for the 2008 season, but the visitors will decide the theme... Which one would you pick ? Source: parksmania.it
  5. Indeed, Pinfari has nothing to do with either Indiana Jones or Lethal Weapon. Disney wanted the Pinfari layout for Indiana Jones, Intamin took the contract, Stengel designed it (and patented the layout, haha) and Giovanola built it. Lethal Weapon is Stengel-designed, Giovanola-built as well. As for the looping, that is Stengel's box track, first used in Schwarzkopfs loopers.
  6. I've been on tons of rides in the rain. I'm from Belgium, where no week goes by without a few heavy showers. Anyway, most memorable experiences: Colossos It was raining cats & dogs, the park (Heide-Park) is partly built on a hill and water was running down from the paths like a small waterfall. Our group was soaked before we even reached the second camelback. Tonnerre de Zeus is a great experience as well. Goliath (Colossos as well) is a good alternative to an acupuncture threatment. Raindrops hitting your face (and arms) at over 50mph. Overall, wooden coasters tend to be much smoother and faster during or after a good shower of rain, makes them so much more fun. Even SLC's are rideable when they're wet.
  7. For the interested, here are a few photos of the ride during it's construction back in 1995: Trains & layout:
  8. New photos... More building demolition. Notice the car park, which was only briefly visible during a couple of stroboscope-like lighting effects. ... ... ...
  9. Europe: - Bellewaerde (latest & greatest is an '84 Boomerang) - Parc Astérix (needs a new crowd puller, maybe time to replace Goudurix (1989)) - HolidayPark (a replacement for Superwirbel (1978)) USA: - SF Fiesta Texas (fill the empty space where Joker stood) - Kings Island (could use a decent, modern looper) - Las Vegas maybe
  10. I'm not saying to ditch 3D, but it should look like the first games. Not the shiny blurry texture crap with fluorescent green grass we have in RCT3.
  11. Not my own photo, but it's what I had this evening... Much better than all that American horse piss in this thread. Aargh, just kidding. It's Dutch beer that is horse piss.
  12. So you like air plane names huh...here goes: Spiteful Seafang Folgore Scimitar Fencer Some beasts and creatures: Piru Mothra Yomi Strix -> my favourite
  13. There should be a remake of RCT / RCT2, with a better engine so we can have more (and new) rides, new theme elements, more options, etc. And with more camera's, not unlimited 3D, but instead of 4 windrose views, 8. And a better zoom: Whatever comes next, it should look nothing like RCT3. That game felt hollow, cheapish, ugly, way too demanding (pc-specs), etc. RCT1&2 felt like a real toy. Everything seemed to have mass, it seemed real.
  14. Nearly all of them nowadays.
  15. Demolition continued yesterday... Nostalgia. Never experienced more hangtime than in these rolls. The buildings / towers are now being dismantled as well. Let's blame the ED-209 ! The outdoor queue continues to shrink...now the roof is being removed.
  16. Uh no...well yes and no. No, because the new coaster is more family-oriented and will be built in the Wonderland Studios kids area. Yes, because part of the "Lethal Weapon refurbishment budget" is now invested in this new coaster. The park will also build a new water ride (I'd place my bets on a Splash Battle or a small log flume) and a Stargate Atlantis simulator / theatre.
  17. In Paris, the burgers and fries are crap anyway. Besides, Colonel Hati (Adventureland) has pasta, there's barbecue stuff in Frontierland and there are great restaurants in Main Street and Fantasyland as well. Also, I don't think they'll close the McDonald's at Disney Village, so you could always go there if you really want a plastic burger.
  18. ...used to be round, sometimes square. Mostly with white, brown or black cream. Sometimes a bit of fruit, or marsipan. But that has changed over the years, and they now come in all shapes, sizes, colors. Everything is possible. Everything ! And it's Halloween season right now...so here's an idea: http://debri.ru/c/neobychnyjj_tortik_15_foto/ finishing touches layer 3 layer 2 layer 1
  19. Not gnna happen. Sony has confirmed many times that you'll be able to use any PC mouse and/or keyboard.
  20. Maurer will show the world's first vertical roller coaster launch at this year's IAAPA (nov 15 - 18, Atlanta) Instead of a 3.5m/s chain system, the vertical lifthill of the x-car coaster can now be equiped with a 12.5m/s LSM mechanism as well, creating a launch sensation similar to a space shuttle launch. A similar - but horizontal - system will be used on the launch coaster for Drievliet (The Netherlands) photo
  21. Also worth noting: the free fall (Intamin stand-up floorless) has been closed for about 4 months now. Lightning struck it...still not fixed the damage. I can see the park removing that ride was well. Evil bastards.
  22. It's a big disgrace how the park has been managed throughout the years. And it all started with Eraser, that rubbish SLC. Then we lost the Police Academy show and two seasons later every other Warner Bros. attraction. Now this. Happy Halloween:
  23. Best park is Europa-Park. It's huge and véry complex, it has so many rides, it's impossible to ride them all in one day and for first-time visitors the park is like a maze. Perfect park. Gives you something to explore.
