photo TR: big California trip
Six Flags Enthuseast replied to SFMM fanboy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice job Zach! I'll definitely be watching. EDIT: I didn't see the award thing the first time around (The picture didn't load right). Thank you so much! -
Hmm........ Let me think......... I'd have to say the best being Raptor (the intense corkscrews), Millennium Force (the airtime hills and the overbank), Maverick (the Stengel Dives), or Silver Bullet (the smoothness of the entire thing and the intense double helix) (CP and KBF). Some other good enders would include Viper @ SFMM (the corkscrews and the little turn under the lift), Timberhawk @ Wild Waves (the little airtime hill and the relatively smooth brakes), and Windstorm @ The Seattle Center (VERY intense turns for how small it is!). The worst.... This is a toughy, but I'd have to say somewhere around Ghostrider (rough, boring airtime hills and turns that give only moderate airtime for how small they are).

I don't hate it when they scream, but I do hate it when they're screaming so loudly and so much that it gets to the point where I just say "It's not that bad! Just stop it!" I said something like that to a woman when I was on the Disko Flashback (Wild Waves' Standard Zamperla Disko ride) and she was kinda annoyed. She just said shut up lightly and continued on screaming. Typical pathetic Washington GP.

Exactly! Just in case it hasn't been pointed out, a lot more people (by what I know) die or get injured trying to get lost items from coasters without permission than on the rides themselves. Still, RIP a fellow coaster rider. I must agree with spaceace12; when I die, I'd like to do so on a coaster, not in a bed or a wheelchair with tubes stuck up my arm and IV going through my arm. Too boring.

NEVER trust a news company to coaster information!! RCDB Link Also, if you look at thumbnail 4 on the pictures, you'll notice that there is a catchcar on only the first lift. The GIB's lift system is MUCH different from that of the Inverted Shuttle coaster. Since Vekoma finally realized it took days for the Boomerang and ISc to get up the lift, they put a faster and much different lift system for the GIB. It works by timed catchcars that are pulled a lot faster up the vertical lifts than the 1 catchcar/1 lift system that pulled Boomerangs and IScs. However, as you may have know from Deja Vu incidents, it isn't perfect. Remember the YouTube video of the SFMM Deja Vu stalling halfway through the loop? Proof of a mistimed catchcar. That's why Robb said that, during Psyclone's removal and TS:TR's building, SFMM was doing their annual cable syncronizing. So the new system was faster, but less reliable. The old system is more reliable, but it still does tend to have it's problems. True, but I must say I have noticed it more in Vekomas more than other rides. Take Aftershock's incident last year (or earlier this year??). Pretty much the exact same thing happened, but with a glitch on the GIB's system.

The Best Six Flags Park
Six Flags Enthuseast replied to Axman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My vote goes to SFMM for my #1, followed by SFGAm and SFFT. SFMM: Their coaster selection, as you know, is one of the biggest in the world. Along with that, a nice selection of flats, a relatively big park size, improving themeing as old rides leave and new ones come in, and, for the most part, good operations. Hurricane Harbor is next door if you want to chill out during a hot day (although it was closed one day we were there because it was just barely still not operation season). SFGAm: The coaster selection here is also great. The flat selection is one of the best of any SF park, and the themeing has always been pretty good. Plus, the lines were never over an hour when I went in 2005. You even get a good sized waterpark included with the price! SFFT: In general, a fun park. Somehow (IDK how, bad judging?) SFFT's shows aren't that fantastic as awarded. However, a good coaster selection, a reasonable flat ride selection, and a pretty close location to San Antonio make it good for someone who wants to go to SFoT but is too far away. Though I've never been to SFoT (or SFGAd....or SFoG.....), if you are far away, I'd suggest you try SFFT. -
I just heard it about 5 minutes ago on Q13 Fox News. I'm glad they didn't make it a big deal as some of the other news channels seem to have made it. However, I'm sure people in Washington are going to make a pretty big deal over it, since everyone (it seems) is afraid or easily sick of coasters. However, if everyone was as educated as I or any other forum member was about coasters, they'd know that: 1) There are NO similar coasters to Invertigo in Washington. 2) This is much more of a Vekoma problem. 3) If there was any problem on the lift section on any coaster in Washington, there'd be catwalks to let them walk down.

5 Intresting Facts about yourself
Six Flags Enthuseast replied to arlen23's topic in Random, Random, Random
1: Born on September 21, 1995 @ 6:13 AM. 2: One of the first riders of Terminator Salvation: The Ride on GP opening day. (Probably one of the first 200-300 judging by the line) 3: I have more than 120 coaster credits. 4: I like Cherry Pie. 5: One of my favorite bands is the Red Hot Chili Pepper. Funny, I'm listening to one of their songs right now; Knock Me Down (Edit) from their 1989 album Mothers Milk. -
I honestly think that it's pretty good. Sure, it may be pretty suspicious that, without parents, the kids are taken around the park going on coasters winning cash, but it's pretty entertaining watching the GP freak out and everything while we are laughing mercilessly at how dumb they are about the coasters and the questions they're answering. Ok, to be real, it would be my favorite game show because..... well, it takes place on coasters. I do agree they should do it at different parks or on different coasters at Knott's, but I'm fine the way it is so far. I think if they decide to make it into a series, Cartoon Network should take it to different park. Going around the country would introduce the show to more people, as well as keep viewer interest with different coasters and parks.

^Man Zach, that sounds bigger than the trip I went on in May! I finally found a registry scanner for my PC (funny, it was apart of Norton 360 already ) and it's running a little faster.

^Hey, that sounds good too! Patrick "Putting the 'Pie' in "Happiness Pie" Thread" Carnahan

^Not just pie; Marie Callenders (more of an American brand, if you didn't know) Cherry Pie with cinnamon crumb topping.... My Wild Waves visit on Wednesday was pretty good. I got 2 credits in the back seat and I think it's considerably better back there. The airtime was good and the intensity was better. But our friend got sick because she rode twice in a row (they allow that on Wild Thing) and she didn't do anything for the rest of the day. Still, it was a fun day (even though it was a record breaking heat wave kind of day).

Favourite small park
Six Flags Enthuseast replied to Scott's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wild Waves is the smallest park I've been to. However, it is a nice place to go to if you just want to spend the day on a few rides or swimming or sitting near the wavepool. There are a lot of rides (even a nice sized skycoaster) for the size of the park, but it is managed pretty well. Overall, my small park vote goes to Wild Waves. -
^Same here. In fact, my walkie talkie experienced some when I dropped in on the floor on one of the bunny hills. I'm going to Wild Waves again tomorrow. The heat in the area is going to be extreme, nearly 100* F in Seattle, and so we're going to try to beat the heat by going to Zamperland. I'm sure it's going to be really crowded, but I think it's worth a shot.

Roughest coaster
Six Flags Enthuseast replied to jbuck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Funny; the same thing happened to me on my last ride on Ghostrider. It's a very tempermental coaster, not too bad my first ride, absolutely horrendous my most recent ride!
