  1. It is quite amusing how easily one immature twat can get under some people's skin. But if I'm going ban him, I'm also going to ban the 20 people that have been baiting him. And I don't have time for that so everyone please act your age.
  2. ^thanks for bringing this to our attention
  3. Mel's Hot Dogs, just outside Busch Gardens Tampa at 4136 E. Busch Blvd. Tampa, FL 33617. http://www.melshotdogs.com/ It was a 7 minute walk from the park entrance. Founded by a native of Chicago over 40 years ago after he realized he couldn't get an authentic Chicago style Vienna Beef hot dog in Tampa. He he started importing hot dogs from Chicago himself. Personally I still prefer the tinge of garlic in New York hot dogs, but it was certainly worth the stop. A little over $10 total for the meal I bought. Menu Board Bacon Cheddar Dog with Onion Rings. Also, unlimited refills on soft drinks.
  4. Last time I checked, 90MPH is faster than 30MPH.
  5. It is certainly a different experience than any other coaster. Each person's ride will vary based on the rider's weight and response while riding. There was more swaying than I ever experienced on any suspended coaster, but also a few surprisingly intense pops of air.
  6. Last Monday I checked out Forever Florida. Minor changes each year as the place develops. The complex offers four main activities. Zipline Tour (7 zips and walk across three sky bridges) Thrill Pack Adventure with 3 components (Zipline rollercoaster, Freefall controlled drop, 1/4 mile zipline race) there used to be a fourth component, a swing that is no longer operational due to woodpecker damage Horseback Riding Coach Adventure Each activity takes almost 3 hours (including suiting up) so tours start at 9AM, 12Noon and 3PM (there is also night zip lining at select times) There is also a working pedal powered observation course, that is not promoted on the website. I did the Thrill Pack Adventure which was $70 for an extra $30 I could have added the Horseback Riding or Zipline Tour. Reservations are highly recommended since they only allow a set number of participants on each tour (only 12 people max for ziplining an the thrill pack). Minimum age and weight for the Thrill Pack are 10 years old and 70 pounds, maximum weight is 265 pounds for the coaster. You get personal attention from the tour guide and the staff makes an strong effort to be both supportive (to those that are afraid) and providing humor when people get too confident. The Florida Forever complex is a 4,700 acre Wildlife Conservation Area and working cattle farm. So, in addition to the recreational activities, you can buy fresh beef on site. All the while 30% of your spending goes back into the saving Florida's Wilderness (including native Florida Panthers and bears) as a contribution to the Allen Broussard Conservancy. Nothing fancy here But you should be considerate and wipe the shit from your boots First you take this vehicle deep into the preserve We took the high road We suited up (harnesses and helmet) in this hut. At the end of the tour you can buy a pack of your photos. Also. Go Pros are welcome and you get a helmet with a mount for no charge. If you don't have a Go Pro you can rent one for $22. Here is the beginning of the Zipline tour, but I didn't do the tour. For the Rattlesnake Coaster the guide gives you instructions, clips you in and pushes you off. And the guy I just showed you ending up valleying, which was awesome because I wondered what would happen. I was hoping the guide would follow him and kick him along, but no. It was a lengthy process. The guide glided down must of the way with a "rescue pack". The rescue pack consisted on ropes and gear to disconnect the stuck ride and put him on a line to rappel the fifteen feet to the ground below. Then the guide had to manual drag himself out of the valley and coast to the end. Certainly interesting to watch. It's not the easiest ride to capture on film, but here is the start. Here you see a person approaching the last of 4 dips in the ride. They don't look like much but at least 2 of them are "Oh Sh!t!" as each person's ride is slightly different and your twisting and swaying are not predictable. Panther Pounce is a simple concept. You get hooked up to this caribiner and then step off the edge. Like walking the plank. 68 feet doesn't sound that high, for a controlled fall after the first 20 feet. I would probably be easier if you could jump (but you could swing into the tower) 1 out of every 5 guests "chicken out" and never takes that step. All of us eventually pounced, although some took longer than others. The last activity to complete is the Pelegrine Plunge A 1/4 mile zipline race side by side. You can get up to 30MPH. You can buy a fresh hamburger after you are done at the restaurant, or you can take away pounds of meat to cook for yourself.
  7. I moved this to the main forum, hopefully people familiar with each park can help.
  8. I just ride Mako and really liked it. Ground breaking, no! Fun, yes. Now off to see Shamu.
  9. Yes, you are correct. So if Cedar Fair did indeed get the trademark for Startosoar, it only makes sense that they would name their first star flyer using that name. Did you know that the starflyer can be programmed to spin backwards as well as forwards. Apparently when spinning backwards it tilts your chair forward causing you to face the ground. It also can be programmed to ascend and descend multiple time per ride. That is how many European parks have them programmed. Hopefully Valleyfair will follow that example and have them do more that just spin forward and go up once per ride. I, for one am really looking forward to a star flyer. I watched several POV's and the chairs really sway and tilt especially if its windy. Windseekers are too rigid and do not do that. I'v ridden the windseeker at Carowinds and found it amusing and relaxing but definitely not thrilling. A couple of seasons ago SFStL ran theirs backwards for Fright Fest, and it is currently programmed to ascend and descend the tower twice. (Well, it descends halfway once and then completely at the end of the ride cycle). The Mondial Windseekes also have the option to spin backwards as well. At least I've seen it on the control panel for the Worlds of Fun relocated one from Knott's. That would be a fun ride. I would definitely give that a go. You will have to wait until new rides are announced! That is how it will be marketed.
  10. No matter what the situation/circumstance you can always find a similar occurrence within a short time frame.
  11. For those asking, weekday crowds should not necessitate Flash Pass over the next two weeks. Lines will be longest between noon and 5PM. Lines tend to form for Kingda Ka, Joker, Superman: Ultimate Flight, Green Lantern and Safari Off Road Adventure. If you plan to be at the park all day and want to ride everything try to ride Kingda Ka, Joker and Safari Off Road Adventure to start the day. Kingda Ka and Joker sometimes close due to mechanical problems so get them out of the way early. Safari Off Road Adventure closes around 4-5PM. With Green Lantern and S:UF operations are slow but lines can get lighter later in the day. They are still popular rides with kids/teens and many of that age group that could be at the park with summer camp groups will leave around 5-6PM
  12. Probably the same reason that people respond to bumped threads without adding anything new.
  13. Correction - I will. Really, you are trying to correct a professional proofreader! I can't recall Chuck ever hitting the submit button with a typo in over 30,000 posts.
  14. True, and we also all knew the possible consequences of our actions.
  15. We are not planning to add Ski Resorts to the Database of Theme Parks and Amusement Parks at this time.
  16. You beat me to it, I took a photo yesterday thanks
  17. Dollywood collect money in parking fees, admission costs, food sales, souvenirs and probably a few other places. This is called income Dollywood pays employees, taxes, insurance and a multitude of other bills. This is called expense Income - Expense = Profit If additional money is spent on expenses then profits willdecrease. If they are no profits, cuts are made or money need to be borrowed.
  18. You are not the first person I have heard say that they only ride certain type of towers, so to me two tower with differing programs fill a need for a park lacking a tower ride. Regarding the third tower, let's remember Hershey is a big family park and an 80 foot tower is a progression from a 20 foot Frog Hooper for a kid. As far as people saying that S&S pulled a fast one by selling three towers instead of two, there is no way we can know this. Maybe Hershey being in the power position negotiated for a third tower at no (or minimal) additional cost. Yes, that happens in business every day. S&S towers are not exactly a thriving market nowadays. Lastly, aesthetically I think the three towers will look nice next to each other.
  19. ^Thanks, using as a placeholder for now
  20. Very nice to see pictures of the newer rides.
  21. A lot of people REALLY wanted to win Powerball last during!
