  1. and in news related to the park, it was announced on August 18th, the work was 80% done on the Miler. Still no indication of an opening date.
  2. 17!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Maybe #itllneveropen will soon refer to Kings Dominion in 2018. I better visit KD at least once next year. I planned to have plans to go in July but that never happened. madmax warned us Intimidator 305 should be renamed Intimidated 305, because nothing says scary like the threat of being taken down. Similarly, Dominator will become Dominated by cranes and wrecking balls Rebel Yell can yell all it wants but the rebels are going to win In just a few months, Volcano will be nothing more than a Plain Hurler will be Hurled into the past as it will become nothing more than memories Anaconda can die I hope you didn't spend more than 5 seconds creating this post. EVERYONE stop bringing up the name of someone who has been banned. All you are doing is feeding the troll and causing him to continue to create fake accounts which causes extra work for the moderating team. Maybe the moderating team needs to view anyone how mentions a banned person's name as an accessory to the crime and ban them also.
  3. Agreed, take a week to sleep during your seven day ban from posting on TPR. I assume you were attempting immature humor, but your post came off as disturbing and insensitive.
  4. I guess that depends on how much driving you are comfortable doing, plan for at least a 3 hour drive (depending on where in Miami) each way as you don't want to miss your appointment time. Also, as mentioned you need to make reservations if you since the activities start at set times and the number of participants is limited.
  5. The day I went was overcast and if it wasn't for the helmet the heat would not have bothered me. I only noticed it after the tour activities were over. We weren't completely in the sun and no one showed any affects of becoming dehydrated. There was a minor shower before I arrived, so not to humid. However, lightning in the area can stop the activities at anytime. My understanding is that you get a voucher to return for any missed activities, but the guides moved us along to rush through everything and beat the next rainfall.
  6. des·per·ate ˈdesp(ə)rət/ feeling, showing, or involving a hopeless sense that a situation is so bad as to be impossible to deal with. synonyms: despairing, hopeless, anguished, distressed, wretched, desolate, forlorn, distraught, fraught; (of an act or attempt) tried in despair or when everything else has failed; having little hope of success. synonyms: last-ditch, last-gasp, eleventh-hour, do-or-die, final, frantic, frenzied, wild, futile, hopeless, doomed (of a situation) extremely bad, serious, or dangerous. synonyms: grave, serious, critical, acute, risky, precarious, dire, awful, terrible, dreadful, urgent, pressing, crucial, vital, drastic, (of a person) having a great need or desire for something. Not sure of your definition of desperate, but i see it as proactive action, not desperate In today's world serious marketing cash is not necessary to promote news to a narrowly defined targeted audience i.e: families in Richmond Allow pre-Ks in at no charge is giving away the gate to only a small percentage of the current customer base and as I stated it can be made up in the increase of adult ticket sales bringing in new pre-Ks. As for why a family would keep coming back after their child turns 5. There are a few reasons. One child (or more) in the family my still be under 5. Also, there is something called brand loyalty not to mention familiarity with the park. As I already stated if a kid has been viewing a ride up close for years that he can't ride and he finally reaches the anticipated height that will be a strong motivational factor in the family bringing the kid back to the park. Comparing how Disney does business to nay regional park is not a fair comparison. Disney is a completely different animal. As far as "What's the difference between the Platinum Pass hike, inclusion of skip the line services, and all you can eat plans with this?" I don't want to state the obvious differences but I'll state the similarities. They are all marketing strategies that have been used over the years by different parks to drive business. All these strategies were considered by "enthusiast experts" to be risky ventures, yet continued.
  7. ^because one unnamed moderator did a poor job of keeping the discussion on track.
  8. I'm not disagreeing with you with either of my posts (except your use of the word desperate), just adding more points to ponder in this rational discussion. Then the park also has to factor in, we just let in 10,000 kids (I know it's a made up number) for free, but how many families that never visited before just paid for two adult tickets. You are right it is not anything that outsiders like us can know for certain. We just have to wait to see how it plays out. Does Kings Dominion continue the strategy next year, does it expand to other Cedar Fair parks. Maybe it is critical in Richmond since their population has increased by 15% over the past 15 years. I'm sure many questioned parks going from pay per ride to Pay One Price. People questioned when Cedar Fair took the high road with repricing their Platinum Passes a few years ago. Many questioned the addition of water parks. Many questioned the inclusion of paid skip the line services. People question all you can eat plans.
  9. Guy - just post whatever you want or you could refer to the first post in the thread, it's not like the "last new coaster" police are going to track you down
  10. I wouldn't call it desperation. Desperation is lowering your prices all around like Hard Rock Park did in its dying days. It is building goodwill and trying to gain customers for life versus a quick money grab. Families will feel better spending money on games and souvenirs for kids when they haven't already spent admission for the child. It also keeps families coming back year over year as the pre-K kids grow into larger rides. They have seen a ride for years they couldn't ride and they want to go back every year to ride more.
  11. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train last week
  12. I enjoy Mirabilandia's 1-2 punch of iSpeed and Katun
  13. Lobster Rolls are not common in New York. When I worked in Manhattan my co-workers said Pearl Oyster Bar was the best. I can't tell you for shore because all the NYC lobster rolls are Maine style and I prefer Connecticut style.
  14. Running out of time. Our luck it will be Labor Day weekend & I'd rather not be down there that weekend lol. That's a shame you won't be around to see it next year However, if you are on your suffering from a terminal illness, the park is open for the 5 weekends after Labor Day
  15. While I agree that the common thread is Snoopy and that was a giveaway as to the content of the announcement... ...You don't think that a picture of Snoopy "snooping" around the site of a closed roller coaster points to an announcement about what they plan to do with that roller coaster? Especially when they've already made comments in the media about "our plan is to reopen it for the 2017 season" and yet they have not yet made any followup about that? And in a recent video they talked about green track versus red track, etc., fanning the flames even more. Obviously this is not a promise or a guarantee. But in my book that's clearly misleading. I understand what you are saying but those occurrences (outside of Snoopy snooping) were not part of the PR campaign to tease something new for 2017. There is a difference between what is leaked from a company and what is released by a company.
  16. GOODBYE! You are also banned from TPR!
  17. This. All of this and ten times more. And the thing is, he will not boycott the park, he has no means to get to any other parks.
  18. I understand that enthusiasts want coasters and I admit I did not see all the teasers. However, I went back through this thread and copied the first three teasers I found, all were released between August 16th and August 18th. How to do teases promise anything big? The only connective tissue in the pictures and comments is Snoopy. The clues do not point to something big. Again I'll admit maybe there are more clues I'm missing so please share them. Has Kings Dominion or Cedar Fair ever used Snoopy to tease a huge coaster?
  19. this video should give you an idea lol He probably wants to factor in crowds also. Unless he can magically transport himself to the front of every coaster.
  20. Do you have the names of these upset stockholders? Myself and the other stockholders I've talked to are enjoying the profits and decisions this company is making. The only people upset are self-serving or self-entitled.
  21. So you are asking if there is more than a 0.0000000001% chance of a coaster in 2018? Seriously, stop trolling, last warning!
  22. I would be happy which a 10% increase in stock price and a 8% increase in their dividend.
  23. Take a look at the backlash the park is getting. Where do you see backlash, the internet, where everyone complains. Can you prove that everyone complaining will result in less income for Kings Dominion and more income for Busch Gardens? NO YOU CANNOT. Backlash will not be determined until the cash is counted. You really need to refrain from posting for a while.
