  1. A few people posting in this thread need to take the time to chill out on their own. That is all! Please do not take it personally when someone disagrees with your argument. Two sides are making points and that is fine it's the personal attacks and baiting that need to stop. Sometimes looking at the past is the best way to predict the future but looking at the past is always the best way to predict the past.
  2. The most intense flat ride at a US amusement park.
  3. They are private vacation cottages. Some are owned by the Knoebel family, but I don't think anyone lives there all year around. At least I think that is the info Rick Knoebel gave us when someone asked the same question during a TPR event.
  4. coasterbill is a poser - He has never even been to Knoebels. All photos of him at Knoebels are clearly photo shopped.
  5. Yes, I could that see that happening also.
  6. ^Thanks and fixed the Bizarro/S:ROS issue
  7. ^That is a fun ride, I remember it well.
  8. Really Mediocre Commentary
  9. Even if there's only 15-20 full timers, that's enough to staff a ride for one day. Probably the least of their problems. Good points. But remember this is Jersey so who knows if there is some crazy law about have to retest a new ride if it doesn't open within a specified numbers of days from the original testing cycle. The park promised Gale Force would open, but we still don't know why they stated a month ago that they were still waiting for a part. Did something break after testing? Was the missing part for Wild Waves or Gale Force? None of us know the whole story.
  10. I have never been to Ocean City in November but I've been to Seaside Park, Belmar and LBI and restaurants and bars are still open, at least the ones I visited were open. A website for Ocean City lists events every weekend in November, might these people also be potential customers for the three day weekend if the park opens. I don't look at this as a desperation move or large money making endeavor, more like a customer appreciation gesture for those who have waited forever. Something to allow the park to redeem it self a little. I guess I'm just looking at this from a different point of view than others.
  11. I agree that it is not a fit for any major parks, but that still leaves hundreds of parks that could be potential customers. Remember that although large parks rule the American scene, in Europe there are hundreds of smaller parks with two or fewer coasters presently. In the US, I'm talking about parks that might be the size of seaside parks or large FECs like FunPlex in Omaha where a ride like this could fit in. Certainly a tough sell but I could see it in fitting in certain places.
  12. I'm missing the humor, unless it is regarding the fact they did not proactively kept the public up to date all summer about the delays. Please clue me in. I for one appreciate the fact that they are still trying to get the ride open in 2016. The weather in early November certainly won't deter people from riding if they ride Nitro in December.
  13. None of the coasters at Skyline Park are high capacity.
  14. Construction began last week to rebuild the pier at Casino Pier that was destroyed during Super Storm Sandy. The new pier will not extend into the ocean as the old pier did. Instead the new pier will be adjacent to the boardwalk extending northward over the sand. http://micromediapubs.com/casino-pier-begins-expansion-northward/ Casino Pier Begins Expansion Northward By Catherine Galioto SEASIDE HEIGHTS – New pilings stand erect on the beachfront, marking the next step in expanding Casino Pier northward. The amusement pier will grow more than an acre to make way for additional rides, the result of a controversial land swap that pitted environmentalist and public access advocates against those in support of the expansion, who said it would increase tourism and sustain the economy of Seaside Heights. Now, the project is underway, with the temporary dunes recognizable in the off season pushed aside at Sherman Avenue to mark off where the new footprint of the pier would go. Nearby in the Casino Pier’s maintenance lot across the street of Ocean Terrace, the parts of a new blue and green roller coaster sat unassembled. The activity comes after several months of public hearings and awaiting approvals between all parties, for a plan that would take 1.36 acres of Seaside Heights beachfront and give it to Casino Pier so the owners could build the pier northward with more amusements. The pier hasn’t rebuilt to its pre-Sandy size, and instead of rebuilding back out over the ocean, the Storino Family who owns Casino Pier is pursuing beach land for its $30 million project to add rides such as a giant Ferris Wheel. In exchange for giving a parcel of beach to the north of the Casino Pier to the Storino Family for its project, the borough of Seaside Heights would get one of the Storino-owned parking lots in town, between Carteret and Sampson Avenues. That lot could possibly become the home of a museum that would house the historic carousel, transferring ownership of the landmark, hand-carved ride for preservation by the town. Originally, Casino Pier sought to build its pier south, buying land south, but a deal could not be reached between the owners. Rebuilding the pier to its length over the ocean is cost-prohibitive, its representatives said. That back part of the pier famously fell into the Atlantic Ocean as a result of Superstorm Sandy, the Jet Star roller coaster sitting in the water. This week, construction crews arrived for the initial work, temporarily closing the portion of the boardwalk near the Aztec to move in equipment.
  15. It is ok, it is only good if it is three in the morning and you are drunk. We all love Larry but please keep in mind that he doesn't think Cesari's at Knoebels is all that great either so his taste buds may be broken. Lol In all seriousness he's not entirely wrong. Wawa is really good but it's not like you'll mistake it for a NYC deli. It's biggest selling point is it's hours but I do prefer it to the chain sandwich shops like Subway (ugh) and Jersey Mikes. They also have some other cool perks like no surcharge ATM's and free air. For a gas station they pretty much reign supreme. I totally agree with your last paragraph. I do stop at Wawa occasionally for snacks and air.

  17. I think a New York location would affect the Florida location to the same degree that the Florida addition affected the California location. Insignificant in my opinion.
  18. Except for the "licking" it sounds like a great experience. I love the wording on the waiver.
  19. Not much news, except to let everyone know discussions are still ongoing http://www.recordonline.com/news/20161006/officials-tout-legoland-project Officials tout Legoland project Oct 6, 2016 By James Walsh atTimes Herald-Record CENTRAL VALLEY – Legoland’s plan for an amusement park in Goshen represents a unique opportunity, not only for Orange County, but for the Northeast United States, business and government leaders were told Thursday. Theme parks are rarely being built in the United States these days, though some are being enlarged or updated. Asia is in a growth stage when it comes to amusement parks, while North America and Europe are quiet after leading the way from the 1950s to the 1980s, Raymond Braun, founder of Entertainment + Culture Advisors, said at an Orange County Partnership breakfast. “This is a really, really unique opportunity,” Braun said after addressing about 300 people at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club. His company’s clients include the Merlin Entertainments Group, which is planning the Goshen venture. Entertainment + Culture Advisor, or ECA, offers services including park attendance projections, potential pricing strategies, and site evaluations for developers, governments and investors. Braun said the proposed Legoland, which would be the third in the U.S., would aim to draw day-trippers from the New York City metro area, and multiple-day visitors from the Northeast. The town Planning Board is reviewing the proposal’s potential environmental impacts in the face of concerns including traffic, infrastructure and noise levels. “We are working with them to make sure information about other tourist destinations in Orange County is available at Legoland,” Susan Hawvermale, the county’s tourism director, said after Braun’s address. “They’ll extend their stay to go to places like The Castle, to our parks, West Point, to go apple picking. There are educational opportunities that will draw them from Legoland.” The “educational” aspect may appeal to Legoland’s target audience of families with children 12 and under. Legoland is among the tamest of theme parks, with an estimated annual attendance of 1.5 million to 2.5 million people. A “mega” park like the Disney properties and Universal Studios draw 8 million to 15 million, according to Braun. Also promoting Legoland at the breakfast was County Executive Steve Neuhaus, who was playfully depicted on video screens piloting a jet at the New York Air Show and playing with Lego bricks. “I’m all in with Legoland,” Neuhaus said. “I think this is a wonderful opportunity; a once in a lifetime … I grew up in Orange County. I’m 42 years old … I think it’s something everyone should get behind.” A key aspect of the plan in Goshen is a 250-room hotel. While the park would open on a spring-fall schedule, the hotel would operate all year. “A big trend in the industry is don’t just build a park, build a destination,” Braun told the audience. “As Disney taught us, it’s better to have people stay for several days than for several hours.”
  20. I kind of agree with you but I kind of don't because it is columbus day weekend and everybody knows it is always absolutely packed this weekend. It doesn't matter if it is Columbus Day weekend. If you don't have employees available on Fridays (for whatever reason) you can't fully staff a park.
  21. October 12th is Yom Kippur. Public schools in most of NJ and all of NYC have school off. Correct. Expect mild to moderate lines and the place should clear out in the early evening. El Toro's back to 2 train operation thankfully and knowing how they can chew through that line is the only thing that really matters, let's be honest. Several people on the forum happen to be going that day. See you there perhaps! As I said earlier in the thread, I'm going since I expect it to be a mile day. At the very least I expect to get my 10+ laps on El Toro to start the day.
  22. I would always rather visit a crappy park and make my own judgement. With that said set your expectations low. The only redeeming thing about the park is x-Coaster. Some compare the Mauuer Sohne Sky Loop to Premier's Sky Rocket model, but I much prefer the Sky Loop.
