  1. Somerset,NJ is a good place to stay. Rye Playland is safe at night. It is not a big place. Traffic might be bad between 2PM-7PM in New York on Friday with the Holiday weekend so be patient. On Saturday I would suggest Dorney during the day and then heading to Hershey at night to take advantage of their preview plan. Details are on their website. Then Hershey again on Sunday morning. Of course you would be better off changing to a hotel closer to Hershey (possibly in Harrisburg area) on Saturday night.
  2. King Cake is awesome stuff. BTW - I think tradition holds that the person that gets the baby not only has to buy the cake but also host a party. Form Wikipedia Privileges and obligations associated with the trinket Louisiana style King Cake: A cinnamon-roll like cake inside with sugary icing with traditional Mardi Gras colored sprinkles on the outside. The plastic baby usually inside the cake has been removed for clarity. The person who gets the trinket is declared the King or Queen of the day. Sometimes there are separate cakes to select the males and females; the one for women is sometimes called a Loomis Cake. The king or queen is usually obligated to supply the next king cake or host the next party or both. King cake parties may be held at the homes of people who live on or near the routes of Carnival parades.
  3. Usually my iPod, but I need local radio for traffic updates driving in New York.
  4. Maybe you can try this place when you whore the kiddie coaster in Sacramento. http://sacramento.citysearch.com/profile/1211426/elk_grove_ca/fat_mike_s_pizza.html
  5. If you can sit tight for a couple of months, the moderators are currently working with the Alveys to compile information of this type for many of the major US parks. We hope to have this live after the seasonal parks close and everyone's park adventures slow down a little.
  6. Why am I not surprised that "Jerk Chicken Strips" are a special at Big Mike's?
  7. I don't know what advice to give other than to say if I was doing a trip this massive I would try to hit all the major coasters and good non corporate parks that were not more than 150 miles out of the way. Depending on your route they could possibly include: Parks in Banson Knoebels Wisconsin Dells Mall of America Martin's Fantasy Island Waldameer Cliffs Las Vegas attractions Lagoon Sea World Texas (Pick up a cheaper Busch season pass from there if you hit that park before either Busch Gardens Park) Sea World Orlando The only park on your list that I have been to that I would skip is Belmont, not worth the time. Good luck withthe planning and trip.
  8. i doubt Mike would play second fiddle. Also, would he enter a contest where his success wasn't guaranteed? It would also necessitate an increase in taxes to cover his food bill.
  9. Only time I felt that Mantis was a "too" rough was in the back row of a nearly empty train. For those that think MF is rough. Do me a favor and trying juggling chainsaws.
  10. Years ago one of my clients (CIT Group) ran a newspaper ad with a headline "Buried in Debt". One newspaper placed to ad in the obiturary section. We at the Ad Agency and those at the client were not happy.
  11. Scott - If you need a reliable VP I'm here. Although I would prefer we change the official title of Vice President to "Tonto". I can help you carry the crusty standoffish Northerner vote and geographically balance the PMW ticket. If a Hurricane fan and a Gator can get along the country will understand the need for us all to just get along. I have a gazillion ideas. Here is one to put money back in the hands of Americans. We can pressure the clothing manufacturers to extend their offerings in the sleeveless t-shirt area. The savings on material (sleeves make up appox 1/7 of the material) could be passed on the the consumer. Hi Ho BeemerBoy!
  12. Her eyes are wide open so we know you were not talking about coaster brakes.
  13. Many people forget that it is a "STAND-UP" coaster. It is not a "Sit on a bicycle seat coaster". If one follows the rules there should be no pain involved. As opposed, to a floorless drop tower where you better have a lot of upper body strength or the ability to squirm in the restraint so that you are resting your cheek on the restraint.
  14. My best friend is a real estate lawyer. He has advised many a potential client into not buying properties that will get them in over their head. He has advised many clients into locking into fixed rates vs. adjustable rates. He has advised many potential clients to not deal with certain brokers. Many people don't listen to him and go to another lawyer that will tell them what they want to hear and end up in trouble.
  15. Shawn - thanks for the update. I have added many of your pictures to the TPR Park Index. I'm sure those going to China next week will find this useful and informative.
  16. Back seat of Cyclops. On that insane drop I was thrown up in the air and landed on the seat divider. OUCH!!!!!
  17. In the simplest terms. Saddam Hussein = bad man. Saddam Hussein is gone. The world is a better place. The motive for every action the US Government takes is political in nature. The situation is just much more tenuous in the traidtional unstable Middle East, or anywhere else where you deal with fanaticism. Especially, with all the relatively new weatlh in this area.
  18. Why did all those bodies come from that turned up in those mass graves?
  19. Obscure movie reference is "Top of the World". I did not realize it was a Disney movie until you asked the question. I did see this movie in 1974 at the Fox Plaza Twin Theater.
  20. Vffreak07 - This is certainly worthy of its own thread. Therefore, I split the 2008 info into a second thread keeping it seperate from the 2007 info. thanks for posting this info
  21. Yes, I see a trend. SF spent money on the parks that sold the most season passes and had the largest gate reciepts. Their thinking was why invest heavily in a park that will never generate customers to recoup the expenditure.
