  1. I like both of CW's large coasters but last time I was at the park I think, I spent more time riding the flats. I love their flat ride collection.
  2. Can't wait to see the size of the 10,000,000 view Platinum button
  3. Olympia Looping is returning to Wiener Prater for 2018, with an expected March opening
  4. This sums up my thoughts, also. As another posted has stated, many this in some way helps Margate get King Solomon's Mine rebuilt.
  5. Cedar Point is not in the habit of installing second-hand goods, so I don't so it happening to Magnum. Well....except for the fact that almost all of the Planet Snoopy rides came from GL. As well as a lot of other things you might not notice like light poles from the area that was around Steel Venom at GL. So it's not like they've NEVER installed second hand goods from a closed park! Yes, I should have tailored my words better to focus on MAJOR rides.

  7. Nice to see Michael out and about again. Looking forward to your report.
  8. I approve of any trip report that incorporates Sonic Youth's Teenage Riot
  9. I have never heard an enthusiast planning a trip to Lagoon being concerned about feeling out of place because of Mormons. Probably because I have never of anyone having a bad trip to Lagoon.
  10. With any outdoor experience, the buyer needs to be aware that weather can affect the event. When Six Flags greatly reduces hours (for weather or other reasons) their policy it to hand out free tickets. However, if you read the back of any amusement park ticket or the signs at ticket booths, or the legal on websites you are agreeing take your chances with the weather. Every enthusiast knows they are taking a chance when they travel to visit a park in bad weather. Sometimes you come home bragging about all the marathoning and sometimes it is not in your favor.
  11. I don't understand why this is a bad thing. Businesses operate to make money.
  12. El Ranchero Loco is located right outside Dollywood's parking lot entrance at 2902 Veterans Boulevard. Authentic Mexican, family run, great prices, fast service, wonderful flavor on their Carne Asada. I don't think this is a hidden gem since it is starting to get packed near 6pm.
  13. No, but you might get lucky early and late in the day at SFGAdv and if no one is waiting for your row you can re-ride. Or if you get out of the row on the exit side, you can move into an empty row if available. Just double check with the ride ops, because the park has been none to change the policy at times. It is not unusual to get at least 6-10 rides in a row on the same train if you head straight to El Toro first thing after the rope drop. Ole!
  14. The bathrooms are just like China, except with porcelain and tiled floors.
  15. ^The list is a farce. Waffle House should be included under open restaurants. Jurassic Jungle Boat is also open.
  16. Oh, if you are talking about movie style parks, change my prediction to 50 years.
  17. The 10 day weather outlook isn't the best for my days 27th-28th, but I'm not worried.
  18. Don't set your expectations high for Camden Do not skip the Whip at Camden Park, one of of two left in the US that run as they were intended to run. Devil's Den (at Conneaut) and Haunted House (at Camden Park) are the only two gravity powered dark rides in the US. Although it was done 6-7 years ago, the facade of Haunted House was repainted in traditional Bill Tracy style.
  19. Depending on how much you ride at Knoebels the wristband my not save you a lot of money. Especially if you can buy $20 worth of tickets at Weis Markets for $16. So far about $48 you can get either a wristband or $60 in tickets. Personally I always get the wristband and try to max it out but there have been days with short hours where a barely came out ahead with the wristband.
  20. Phoenix Lightning Rod El Toro Goliath (SFGAm) Skyrush Lightning Run I-305 Maverick Storm Chaser Fury 325
  21. This would be the 60th SBF Group spinning coaster since the models were introduced in 2014, that's pretty impressive.
  22. http://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/community/article/2124627/cable-car-issue-hong-kongs-ocean-park-traps-210-riders-mid Breakdown issues usually don't bother me, but with the location of Ocean Park cable cars and the cold weather, I think i would have been very uncomfortable during the delay Cable car issue at Hong Kong’s Ocean Park traps 210 riders mid-air in winter cold A spokeswoman for the Southern District amusement park said shortly before midnight that one of the two ropeways for the cable car system was suspended temporarily at 7.43pm, and that park staff had immediately performed an inspection. “[The staff] found that the station railing on the platform had hit a cabin due to strong wind, resulting in its misalignment, which interfered with the movement of the rest of the cable car cabins,” she said. The Hong Kong Observatory issued the first cold weather warning of the winter on Saturday afternoon, as the temperature dropped to as low as 10 degrees Celsius in some areas. The weather forecaster recorded 13 degrees in Wong Chuk Hang, where the park is located, at the time of the incident. The spokeswoman said that no passengers were injured in the incident. Ropeway operation resumed at 8.16pm, after an urgent adjustment. Guests on that ropeway were able to start leaving the cabins. “By 8.52pm, all 210 guests on the ropeway safely exited the ride without injury. During this period, the other ropeway and the Ocean Express funicular trains continued to operate and serve the guests of the park,” she continued. Ocean Park informed the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of the incident immediately. It pledged to carry out a thorough examination of the cable car system before resuming operation of the ropeway. In November 2012, 95 riders were left in mid-air for about half an hour when one of the ropeways was suspended temporarily. The park explained at the time that a cabin had failed to release its grip from the cable normally, prompting the cable car system to stop automatically as a safety precaution. No one was hurt. A similar incident took place in August 2007, when 280 passengers were trapped in the cable cars for eight minutes after a conveyor belt broke.
