  1. ^Heard about the buyout on Bill King's show this morning. Very smart move on the WKU AD's part.
  2. Confirmed that it will be a Diggerland. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2014/01/new_theme_park_to_be_built_in_south_jersey_report_says.html New construction-themed amusement park being built in South Jersey By Jeff Goldman/The Star-Ledger January 07, 2014 BERLIN— A new amusement park is coming to South Jersey this summer. Diggerland Adventure Park, which is being touted by developers as the first construction-themed amusement park in the United States, will be built in West Berlin, Camden County, a spokesman for the company building the 14-acre park confirmed today. The park is built by Sahara Sam's Oasis at 100 Pinedge Drive, adjacent to its indoor-outdoor water park on Route 73, spokesman Chris Peters said. Peters said ground has already been broken and that Diggerland is tentatively scheduled for an early summer opening. There are four similar theme parks in England. The company will hold a press conference on Tuesday to release further information about the project. It posted an opening for a park manager on an online job site last month. The township zoning board approved the project at a November meeting, Peters said. Diggerland lets visitors ride full-size construction equipment, according to its website. There are also play areas and sand pits. Among the top attractions at its English parks are Sky Shuttle, Spin Dizzy and a six-ton digger. The park will include some of those rides as well as new attractions that the United Kingdom parks don't have, Peters said.
  3. The Cyclone traditionally opens for the season on Palm Sunday (April 14th this year). Luna Park has followed that schedule since taking over. Rides will not be open prior to that weekend. The B&B Carousell is the only ride open year round.
  4. We leave complaining to people on the West Coast. OK, maybe not.
  5. I'll go with two that have already been posted. Wood Coaster at Knight Valley Superman Krypton Coaster at SFFT
  6. True about the rapids/waves not being too intense. However, when the ride opened there was no wooden barrier blocking rafts from going "under" the waterfall. And when this happened water would pour into one side of the and the raft would be trapped under the onslaught of water for minutes at a time. I was never in a raft stuck in this predicament but saw it happen quite a few times.
  7. ^Universal must be looking at the number of foreign visitors to Beijing and hoping that a "famous name" amusement park can draw enough people. It's also difficult to ignore such a large population base (even if most residents can't afford a day Universal). Someone at Universal made the decision to not go head to head with Disney by avoiding Shanghai and the south of China
  8. Unlike others, I'm just happy that I've never had a bad ride on Phoenix. Cold weather, warm weather, hot weather, rain, freezing rain, morning, afternoon, night never a bad ride. I guess I just got lucky on the 100 or so rides I've had. I like being lucky.
  9. Not exactly true. There were problems with the original investment team getting their funding in order but the current investors who have a track record (they also own Mall of America and the West Edmonton Mall) have the money and see the potential. The biggest issue right now is a battle with the New York Giants and Jets regarding traffic in the area. The main issue is the football teams do not want the amusement park operating on game days. In October, the town of East Rutherford gave approval for the mall and amusement. Just like many projects, final funding is not secure but these at least these guys have a track record with similar projects. American Dream Discussion Thread
  10. Probably since the ride wasn't a top notch coaster to begin with.
  11. A generally accepted definition "Social Media" is a media source with user generated content. Last time I checked millions of users were posting/creating/generating the content on YouTube.
  12. Oh, I never knew that there was a park in Nova Scotia...might have to check this out one of these years. Thanks for letting us know! There are 6 coasters out in that area, mostly at FECs. I dug up a link to someone's PTR from a few years ago.
  13. Even The Beast from the early 90's is so much better than most coasters today.
  14. Reconstructed first drop on the SFNE Cyclone. Used to be the most insane start to a ride.
  15. Pretty much every one that wasn't recently built GCI, RMC nor an Intamin Plug and Play. Although, I'll include Coaster and Playland, Boulder Dash, Ravine Flyer and Phoenix as a few that don't need refurbs.
  16. Not much newness in 2013 for me outside of Mexico. New credits Montana Infinitum Cascabel Superman el Ultimo Escape Old Credits Phoenix El Toro Bizarro (SFNE)
  17. Did the drinking start early in Vegas?

  19. I agree, but I think Dick Knoebel said a few years back that he had no desire to build and maintain a walk through attraction. Although I never rode them, bring back the flying cages.
  20. Thanks for pointing that out, I knew by the bamboo that it wasn't taken it Knoebels, but it was bugging me that I couldn't figure out where it was taken.
  21. Only a Jew from California would like that abomination.
  22. In that case, Cannonball Run is very out of place in Waterville USA
