  1. It's not that simple. For starters the scale of the installation at Carowinds is much bigger. Fury 325 can be promoted and accepted by the public as a signature ride. Carowinds is also generally a long way from maximizing park attendance on any particular day. The promotional and public relations routes are much more cost effective in getting the message out there versus solely advertising. A new ride like Fury 325 is going to sell a lot more incremental tickets than Tempesto no matter how Tempesto is promoted.
  2. Yup, food at Ellen's Stardust is not great. Regarding chestnuts, I think the song was written because of the wonderful aroma they emit. Some people think the classic smell from the NYC food carts in the winter comes from the pretzels, but it is the chestnuts.
  3. I love the idea, but I'm sure they are liability issues with attaching one manufacturer's ride to another. But we can hope.
  4. The financial advantage of having a ride open at the beginning of the season must not be a big difference.
  5. Exactly, and if enthusiasts are looking for anything more, they will be disappointed
  6. ^Chuck you beat me to it. The Gong Show was so great because it was so bad. Gene Gene the Dancing Machine was a huge part of that. How many drugs were used during the filming of that show? Oingo Boingo first national TV appearance was on the Gong Show in 1976.
  7. But as you know, TPR has no interest in supporting stupidity that is not TPR stupidity. We are not looking to send people to non-quality forums.
  8. Fisherman Wharf near Shanghai comes to mind. If I recall correctly this is the park that tried to sell Robb a bottle of Coke that someone had already taken a swig of.
  9. I generally don't like shin guards, but I'll wait until I ride before I judge this.
  10. Thank you! do you know approximately how early the buses are scheduled on weekdays in that period? correct me if i'm wrong but from what i've read in the timetables from past years they depart at 09:30 am, but i'm not quite sure haha That time sounds about right. In the past, the earliest arrived at the park shortly after the park opens.
  11. Save teh Eruo Stahr! I've got a pick-up truck and some tools.
  12. You buy the combination ticket through New Jersey Transit http://www.njtransit.com/var/var_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=SixFlagsServiceTo NJ Transit will give you a ticket/voucher for admission to SFGAdv. Check the link I provided as it gets closer to your trip
  13. I'm surprised there have been no snarky comments about a Larson Super Loop.
  14. The majority of the park's guests come from within Quebec. In my three trips to the park I never had a issue with customer service at LaRonde, just slow ride ops. The first time I visited with a SF Pass that had to be redeemed for a paper ticket first before entry I had no issues with a language barrier. Another time when I had a season pass that allowed parking at all parks and the parking lot attendant had not seen it before, it only took two minutes for a supervisor to clear the issue. My french is probably worse than the employees English and I never had trouble communicating with employees at LaRonde.
  15. Although that would be a fair price for a bucket of Potato Patch fries. Then again no one should ever attempt to eat a full bucket of fries.
  16. That would probably be the upper limit of what the park could afford in terms of a "new" steel coaster.
  17. That may be true, but there's no reason to egg on him like that. If the stuff he thinks is what he thinks, then we should let him think it. Wouldn't kill anyone. We don't care what he thinks, we care about what he posts. Everyone is free to have stupid thoughts without repercussions but if you post something stupid on TPR, it will be reposted here.
  18. The suggestion of a wooden coaster is just plain foolishness.
  19. Good luck finding a project that is not pitched in that manner. Like Joey said, that's how business is done.
  20. Media Day invitees generally include the media and guests of the media. Radio stations and newspapers sometimes offer free tickets to contest winners. Digital media outlets are invited provided the outlet has a working relationship with the park's Public Relations Department. Sometimes members of coaster clubs are invited as extras for the event. SFA had extras dress as zombies for the Apocalypse opening, SFGAdv had extras dress as Fat Elvis for the SkyScreamer opening.
  21. There are parks that are better in Germany, but you won't find a better coaster in Germany. You have to decide what is more important to you.
  22. One of my last potential job interviews in the Advertising industry was to be on the Blackstone account. Every person I respected in the industry told me to avoid the position and decline the interview. I was informed the client was all about efficiency over proactive solutions based thinking.
  23. Yes the original first drop provided massive airtime. But it was re-profiled in 2001 and based on your profile you were 2 years old at that time. You must have been a big infant with an incredible memory.
