  1. I'd find it hard to mix up the two parks considering one is located firmly inside Disney World, but that's just me. As for the name change, I agree that it's likely for the best. I know so many people that still call it MGM Studios and the new name never really caught on. I like the idea just to rename it Walt Disney Studios like the Paris Resort. The other rumor with this is a new expansion. With the backlot closed, they have quite a bit of space. I see some of the space going towards a Pixar Toy Story area like Hong Kong and Paris since the park is lacking in the rides department. This will help spread the Fastpass Plus reservations around. Then I see the rest of it and the west end of the park getting converted to a Star Wars area. I would imagine that this would come with a new E ticket such as a speeder bike motocoaster or a simulator 3D adventure using the Iron Man or Ratatouille ride system.
  2. For the top single moment, I have to go with the Jack Rabbit's double dip. I was expecting it to be great, but it still blew me away. I also love the airtime on Phoenix, Boulder Dash, the Coney Island Cyclone, El Toro, and SkyRush.
  3. If you love coasters, Six Flags is a must. I would recommend visiting Disney on both Thursday and Friday. If you a devote a full day to each of the two parks, you can get through them. Make sure you get on Radiator Springs Racers early (get there at opening, skip the massive Fastpass line, and you can ride it a few times single rider or once in the normal line with a tolerable wait). All of the Fastpass rides at California Adventure are usually pretty good about keeping them throughout the day except for Radiator Springs Racers. The only rides there that can be a pain is Radiator Springs Racers (due to its popularity) and Toy Story since it doesn't have fastpasses. At Disneyland, Space Mountain will run out of Fastpasses earlier than the other rides and usually Indiana Jones isn't too far behind. I'd Fastpass those two early and then you can get Fastpasses for the others later in the day. I'd recommend Magic Mountain on a Saturday. I'm not from the area, but I would imagine that the LA traffic wouldn't be as bad as a weekday and you can get a Flash Pass (advised on a weekday as well) to avoid waits. The coasters here really are fantastic and that was before Twisted Colossus which looks like it could be one of the world's top coasters.
  4. Good theming certainly can't save an uncomfortable ride like Canada's Flight Deck, but it certainly makes it better than the other terrible SLCs I've been on. Themed rides can really increase the immersion factor. Disney level quality is outstanding, but even smaller theming jobs such as the Old Canobie area for the flume and Mine of Lost Souls, Story Land, or Santa's Village do a number. Cardboard cutouts don't do anything for me though (cough: Six Flags: cough).
  5. During early entry I've hit Maverick, Millennium, Raptor, Gatekeeper in that order and was in line for Dragster by 9:50. Millennium is the biggest wait during early entry but on most of my visits if it was the first or second ride I did the wait was no more than 10 minutes. Good to know for my June trip! I can't wait to finally visit Cedar Point. Are Millennium and Maverick more front seat or back seat rides? I plan on trying both but want some recommendations for our first ride the evening before.
  6. It's possible but the animals are a huge draw for the park. I didn't know there were only two elephants left but they have over 20 dolphins and lots more other animals. I could see them getting rid of some of the animals there are less of/less of a draw to but I don't see them getting rid of everything any time soon. Although it would be really cool to get a ride over there, I feel like they'd be more likely to put another animal show/exhibit in that area. Or maybe a ride/animal exhibit! When I was there twice over the summer, the animal attractions seemed to be a very big draw for families. Removing them would take away a major advantage that they have over the other major park nearby in Great America.
  7. Nice photos! Not sure if I'll ever make it out to those parks someday, but the DC/Superhero area looked quite a bit nicer than the ones I've seen at Six Flags parks.
  8. I could easily see something like this ending up at a park strapped for space like Belmont Park. I can't wait to go back and try this ride out and get some more laps on Wooden Warrior. I wonder how popular this ride will be with the younger clientele that seem to visit the park.
  9. Great job with the park! I really like a nice RCT2 park and Forest Flyer is my personal favorite here.
  10. I recently picked Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 back up. When the game came out, I had extremely difficulties running it, but it ran quite well on my new computer. Six Flags Over New England is a Six Flags inspired park I've been wanting to make for a while. Each coaster in the park is a clone, which wouldn't be completely out of the ordinary for Six Flags. I pre-apologize for my buildings being pretty blocky and repetitive, but I enjoy spending more time on the rides. Onto the photos. After walking up Main Street, the park's first ride is Scream, a 200 foot Intamin drop tower. A Six Flags park wouldn't be complete without a DC area. And it's Batman the Ride. Taking a page from the Mexican park, this one is a Vekoma SLC instead of a B&M. There's a Superman Ultimate Flight clone. For those who didn't get a headache from Batman, this Volare should do the trick. Catwoman's Whip was inspired by its namesake at Six Flags New England. Goliath is the park's Premier Sky Scream clone (minus the non-inverting loop since I couldn't make that with my Premier LIM track set). Speedy Gonzales is the park's spinning wild mouse clone. In the Wild West area next door is the standard wild mouse, Gold Rush. And here's an overview of the entire area. Across from Gold Rush is the Pony Express, a Vekoma Booster Bike. The closest coaster to the main entrance is the Boomerang. V2 was built minus the holding brake. Pirate Bay is another one of the park's themed areas. Wicked Cyclone is the anchor of the area and the first mega-lite in the United States. This is one clone coaster enthusiasts are surely glad to see. Looney Tunes Land is perfect for the youngsters. Hurricane Harbor has a main tower with speed slides, tube slides, and a family raft slide. This Tornado was one of the first ones built, as it still runs with single tubes. Deluge is the most popular ride at Hurricane Harbor. It is an exact clone of the one that opened at Kentucky Kingdom.
  11. As everyone else has said, I've had it happen on I305 as well. Goliath (SFMM) and Backlot Stunt Coaster have both done it to me on their helices. Batman the Ride does it for me sometime during the first three inversions and Great America's Flight Deck does it for me during the turn after the vertical loop.
  12. This place has really grown since my last visit to Orlando. I will definitely be stopping by next time I visit, which is hopefully soon! Also, what do you guys think of the rumor that Screamscape posted about Fun Spot getting a Chance GTX coaster?
  13. Has there ever been plans to add padding to the lap bars? That sounds like it would help the coaster immensely. Two of the biggest pleasant surprises for me were Space Mountain (Disneyland) and Rolling Thunder. I was expecting Space Mountain to be a fun coaster, but the combination of darkness, music, and tight turns really made the train feel like it was flying. Then I rode Rolling Thunder after a massive rainstorm and the train was absolutely flying through the course! The return leg gave some really good floater air. I returned the next day (perfectly clear day) and it was dragging per usual. My unpleasant surprise has to be Riddler's Revenge and Green Lantern. I was told that these two stand-ups were the best of the genre, but both are near the bottom of my roller coaster ranks due to their roughness.
  14. My newest coaster is Possessed in my most recent trip to Dorney. I had missed that one in a previous visit due to a thunderstorm shutting down the major rides.
  15. I know people have been having this debate in the Knott's thread with GhostRider, but would you want Predator to get an Iron Horse treatment or just topper track? While Iron Horse could make that a really unique layout, I think the current layout is the perfect double-out-and-back layout; it's just ruined by roughness.
  16. I'd support this entirely. Vortex had a surprisingly forceful loop and with floorless trains, I think the head-banging in the transitions would be eliminated. Flight Deck is a really short coaster and loved by parkgoers, so I think Vortex could be the same with a transformation.
  17. I'm really looking forward to Frantic and really like the direction that the park is going in. I'm interested to see how fast this thing will spin while inverting. I would love to see a clone of Control Freak come to this park sometime in the near future. I loved that ride at Belmont Park and I feel like Quassy is the perfect sized park for it since it would never work in a park with massive crowds.
  18. Sadly with Goliath's new train, Flashback is the better of the 2 rides by far. I'm not saying that should dictate if it should stay or not as right now Goliath is much more popular but I rarely see Flashback without a line so plenty of people seem to like it. I rode Goliath and the new train for the first time back in September and while it was slightly slower than the previous train, I found the ride just as smooth and enjoyable.
  19. Steel Force's lift did seem somewhat crooked. I've also noticed that about Bizarro. I still think the most unnerving lift I've been on is Kings Dominion's Grizzly. That train kept bouncing up and down the whole way up. As for Twisted Colossus, those trains look amazing. They kind of remind me of Inspector Gadget.
  20. Darn that means GhostRider is safe. In all seriousness, I really like this attraction. I'm a big fan of these shooting 3D rides and I really appreciate how the park tried to give it a unique theme instead of the generic Ghost Blasters/Ghost Hunt theme.
  21. I really enjoy Kings Dominion as well. I find Intimidator a tad overrated. Don't get me wrong, it is a great coaster, but I prefer drops over the twisty things so it falls behind the B&M hypers in my opinion even though the speed is unreal. I too prefer Flight of Fear to Joker's Jinx, but find a noticeable difference. Flight of Fear seems to have a more powerful launch than Joker's Jinx, but Flight of Fear also has a stronger mid-course brake that saps a good amount of speed before the second half.
  22. ^ That one is even more photogenic now that the red track is being laid.
  23. ^ You aren't counting this Dragon Wagon I really like this topic! Let's see what my top coasters are by state. California- X2 Connecticut- Boulder Dash Florida- Dragon Challenge (Chinese Fireball) Maine- Excalibur Maryland- Wild One Massachusetts- Bizarro (though I think Wicked Cyclone will pass it) New Hampshire- Yankee Cannonball (haven't been on Coastersaurus yet, but I loved Wooden Warrior) New Jersey- El Toro New York- Cyclone Pennsylvania- Phoenix Rhode Island- Roller Coaster at Enchanted Forest (It closed, but I got the credit!) Virginia- Apollo's Chariot
  24. This is amazing. I wish I could have been a kid still trick or treating in your neighborhood. It reminds me of the homemade Mystic Motel.
  25. Makes me forget that Flashback and Mind Eraser are red.
