  1. The El Loco coasters are very marketable thanks to their unique elements and beyond vertical drops. While the Free Fly looks awesome, it's not quite as easy to boast about.
  2. That ride is that old car that you know is going to die someday, but it just keeps chugging along. I really hope the park keeps it, but one of these years it won't survive. I have a feeling the park's next coaster will come once the bobsled is removed.
  3. Explain yourself immediately. You've gone bonkers. I will openly admit I305 is balls to the wall intense, but I prefer an air-time hill to the twisties. I305 is still a really great coaster, but I would take a B&M hyper over it since I find them more fun. Maybe he or she has the same feeling? As for the ride I just can't enjoy, I'd have to go with Riddler's Revenge. I'm typically not a big fan of stand-up coasters in general. While this one was considered the best of the bunch, I just found the ride's forces and occasional headbanging (since I was wearing my glasses by mistake) to be uncomfortable. While they already have Scream, I'd openly look forward to seeing Riddler's be converted to a floorless coaster like Mantis was. That way they will have a good floorless.
  4. If there is track from a cancelled UAE Hulk clone that would make sense and make Screamscape's rumor "true" since B&M already made the track so they could probably just have a separate outside company install it for them. That doesn't answer who is doing the launch system though since I doubt B&M had that ready to go a few years ago.
  5. How has Cedar Fair maintained Renegade and Prowler? I know those two coasters and Gold Striker are considered really good coasters. I'm still in favor of a GCI wooden twister along the lines of those coasters. Dorney has the hyper and the steel loopers.
  6. B&M- Riddler's Revenge (I know people love this stand-up, but it was rattling really bad when I rode it last year.) GCI- Roar at Six Flags America (The lack of Millennium Flyers shows. It's West sister was way better.) Intamin- Skull Mountain (It's fun, but it's nothing compared to their larger coasters.)
  7. If I didn't have shin splints, the vibration wouldn't have been a major issue. The front and back cars are still fantastic and it's definitely a top 10 coaster.
  8. The longest lines I've waited in include: Bizarro (SFNE)- 2 hours (most switchbacks and surprisingly no breakdowns) Splash Mountain (WDW)- 2 hours Toy Story Mania (WDW)- 2 hours Volcano- 2.5 hours (every switchback, line extended onto midway)
  9. I stopped by the park on Friday night for a few hours on the way to Philadelphia and had a really good visit. The park was pretty dead, or undead depending on your perspective. The longest wait I had for a ride was 10 minutes for the front seat on Steel Force and the Wild Mouse. Every other seat/ride was a walk-on. The haunts were the real draws and they all seemed to have pretty long waits, so I skipped out on those since I was pressed for time. I was still able to enjoy the Halloween atmosphere though and think that the park did a better job than Six Flags with theming and character interaction. As for the rides, I got on the following: Wild Mouse- 1X Hydra- 1X Demon Drop- 1X Dominator (Up)- 1X Whip- 1X Monster- 1X Steel Force- 2X Possessed- 1X Stinger- 1X Talon- 2X Hydra and Talon were both running glass smooth. In my visit last year, both had a bit of a rattle but that was non-existent on Friday. While Hydra isn't intense, I really do like the ride's elements since they produce a lot of air-time/hang time. Then Talon is one of my favorite inverts. Really forceful and a unique 2nd half. Steel Force was running extremely well. Last year both my sister and I found the ride to be pretty dull, but on Friday the ride was absolutely flying. My front seat ride gave strong air on every hill and my back seat ride was more of the same. The first drop was particularly wild in the back since it really gets dragged over the top. I was also able to get my first ride on Stinger since it was open! I really liked the ride. It was really forceful and smooth unlike their sit-down siblings.
  10. I was coming back home from Philadelphia yesterday and my GPS was taking me past Springfield so I decided to stop in the park for the final 1.5 hours. I first want to say that the park's Halloween theming seemed much better than in past years for Fright Fest. There was a lot of fog spread throughout the midways and the park did a very good job lighting up the rides. There were also a lot of Halloween decorations spread throughout and there were a good number of employees trying to scare guests walking by. I was able to get one ride on Wicked Cyclone and two on Bizarro. Once I got to the park, I went right for Wicked Cyclone. It was cycling trains through when I arrived, but opened up right as I got there. From what I overheard in line, the ride was down fairly often yesterday. I ended up waiting about 20 minutes. I got the blue train, car 3, row 2 and had what was my worst ride on the coaster. The ride was still jampacked with air-time even in a middle seat, but the whole seat was vibrating. I had heard people mention the vibrating in discussion boards, but it was the first time I personally experienced it and it was really annoying, especially since I had been recovering from shin splints. It seems that only the middle cars have this issue, but the park really needs to work on it since Wicked Cyclone was absolutely hauling and glass smooth on Media Day. I tried to ride again, but right before I got on the ride broke down again. One of the restraints was stuck closed. By then it was 8:35 and I wasn't sure if it would reopen before closing, so I went over to Bizarro to find it a complete walk-on for every seat except the front. The front was just a 3 train wait. Bizarro was running really well. I loved not having the music blasting in my ears and night rides on this coaster are fantastic. I then got back in line for the back seat. There wasn't too much shuffling in the back, but it still is noticeable. I am hoping the Superman conversion can restore this ride to the glory years and I think removing the headrests should help with the shuffling.
  11. Thunderbolt is fun, but not a standout ride. I'd give it a solid 6/10. If the line is at the station ramp, I make sure to ride it on the way by. But with the one train operation, that line moves painfully slow. At a smaller family park, I bet the ride would get more attention.
  12. California's Great America- B&M Hyper Canada's Wonderland- B&M Launched Wingrider Carowinds- B&M Launched Wingrider Cedar Point- RMC Mean Streak Dorney Park- GCI Wooden Coaster Kings Dominion- B&M Invert Kings Island- Mack Spinning Coaster Knott's Berry Farm- B&M Giga Michigan's Adventure- Chance Hyper GT-X Valleyfair- B&M Invert Worlds of Fun- Premier SkyLoop Gilroy Gardens- Flowers
  13. I'm not for Stell Force making the list, and Ka is extremely painful and unreliable as compared to TTD Maybe Top Thrill Dragster was just having a bad stretch in the beginning of June, but that ride seemed to be down more often than it was open. Kingda Ka only had one 20ish minute breakdown when I was at Six Flags last month. I agree Top Thrill Dragster is smoother and the lack of shoulder restraints makes it better, but the difference in ride isn't that huge.
  14. 1) Lightning Rod- The announcement blew me away and I really need to get down there to try it out. That drop and quadruple down looks beautiful and the setting is fantastic. NOTE- The gap here is intentional. 2) Wildfire - The one RMC that I've been on (Wicked Cyclone) is my second favorite coaster after El Toro so I really want to try their other coasters. This one has a low to the ground layout and looks like it could be like Medusa in a better setting. 3) Joker- See 2, but this one has a tad worse of a setting. Still an epic looking ride though. 4) Mako- I love B&M hyper coasters and SeaWorld does a very nice job theming their rides.
  15. I agree that it is for capacity. Robb also makes a good point that having a second vertical drop is important to give a fuller ride experience. On a side note, imagine how forceful the second vertical drop would be if the brakes didn't kick in beforehand.
  16. I'll take the new ones, but it is close. B&Ms are really smooth, but I'd rather just avoid the risk of headbanging. I didn't find that the new restraints inhibited air-time at all on GateKeeper. The constant pressure on the restraints was weird at first, but ultimately I didn't mind it.
  17. B&M coasters are like Apple products. Everyone is super excited for the announcement, but then people complain about every little thing when it is announced. Once it is released, everyone will then love the product again. B&Ms and Apple products are safe, but that definitely does not mean that they are bad. I've only been on Griffon, but both vertical drops were outstanding and I was floating the whole way down. The inversions were also pretty forceful. Not early 1990 B&M invert forceful, but forceful. This ride is going to be immensely popular and a people eater. People love SheiKra and Griffon, so I don't see how a larger version of two highly popular coasters is bad. And then having the new vest restraints is just gravy.
  18. The only new rides I got on this year were Wicked Cyclone and Rougarou. Of the two, I prefered Wicked Cyclone hands down. It immediately became one of my favorite coasters and sits just behind El Toro on my personal list. All of the drops provide powerful ejector air-time and it includes a lot of unique elements such as the outward banked drop and the zero-G stall. Rougarou was really fun and a surprisingly forceful floorless, but it's not in Wicked Cyclone's class.
  19. I love Chip and Dale too. They deserve a better attraction anyway.
  20. Arrow - Hyper Coaster B&M - Hyper Coaster Chance - Zipper Funtime - Star Flyer Gerstlauer - Spinning Coaster Giovonola - Hyper Coaster Hopkins - Log Flume Huss - Jump 2 Intamin - Pre-Fab Wooden Coaster KMG - Fireball Larson - Drop Tower Mack - Spinning Coaster Maurer Söhne - X Car Mondial - Top Scan Morgan - Hyper Coaster Moser - Frisbee Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters - Wooden Coaster Premier - Sky Rocket II RMC - I-Box Reverchon - Spinning Coaster S&S - 4D Coaster Sally - Shooting Dark Ride Schwarzkopf - Looping Coaster SDC - Matterhorn Tivoli - Orbiter Vekoma - Anything at Disney Zamperla - Power Surge
  21. Pretty sure all of RMC feels the same way. I've always wondered what a B&M with the exact same SLC layout would be since the layout itself seems good if the comfort wasn't an issue. As for Mighty Iron Roar or whatever they name it, I'm excited the park is finally getting a top notch coaster. Superman and Medusa are two great coasters and this should round out their collection quite nicely. It's a bummer to see Roar go (I really enjoyed it), but this is better.
  22. The Slinky Dog coaster really surprised me. On Saturday night, I only saw one screenshot for a few seconds and figured the coaster would be the larger version of a roller skater. After seeing the video, I am really excited to ride this since it appears to have the Seven Dwarfs rocking cars unless I am mistaken.
  23. I always envisioned it closer to Tomorrowland for thematic purposes, but if that's where there's available land it makes complete sense. I never once went to the Big Thunder Ranch area during my visits there.
  24. Rock "n" Roller Coaster way back in 2000. That was also my first launched coaster. The ironic part is that I had no problem riding that, but was scared to death by Honey I Shrunk the Audience (didn't want to be shrunk as I thought that I actually would) or Tower of Terror (didn't want to become a real ghost).
  25. I haven't heard anything else on that site, but I feel like it will eventually be turned into a water park expansion. Castaway Bay is usually over capacity and very popular with families. If the park removes the Corkscrew, I would really want to see a coaster, but from a business standpoint, adding slides like Quassy has done lately would be a good decision to lighten the load on Castaway.
