  1. In other news, Wicked Cyclone seems to be over its vibration issues! I've ridden it in both the blue and orange trains and they were absolutely hauling through the course and it was glass smooth. I think the ride may be even faster than it was at the start of last season since I got ejector air on the final few hills. I think it has taken back the spot as my favorite coaster.
  2. The nice thing with the park's Fast Lane is that you can still wait for seats too. You just skip all the switchbacks.
  3. I knew we'd never get the T bar back, but the U bars Intamin used on El Toro are quite a bit less bulky. Those 2 types of restraints actually rest on your lap. At least for me, Superman's rest on my thighs.
  4. They look a little slimmer than Bizarro's (still quite bulky) but they feel the same.
  5. I'm at the park now. There were some opening day hiccups. The park was listed to open online at 10, but they didn't let people in until 10:15ish and Superman opened at 10:45 for season pass holders. Unfortunately it is just running one train today (the red one is still on the brake run with dummies). The ride looks amazing in its old red glory. The park added some daily planet newspaper snippets along the ride's course and installed speakers next to the brake run and lift hill that plays the Superman theme on loop. The restraint molding looks different but it feels the same as Bizarro. The ride itself was great as ever. I got 1 ride in the backseat and the coaster reminded me why it's one of the best. So I know the question you all want to hear- Superman or Bizarro. The ride didn't feel much different, but that isn't a bad thing since Bizarro was still fantastic. Maybe it's smoother but I honestly couldn't tell. Overall, the relaunch looks to be a success from a marketing standpoint and it should get better when VR comes (from a ride standpoint, operations standpoint to be determined). Superman is a much more recognizable name and the ride looks much better in red. And as always it's one heck of a coaster. Red looks much better! The first train made it back. The red train isn't being used today and you can see the dummies in the back. I know they've reused this logo at other parks but it never gets old. Hi Superman! The S is back! The new molding looks and feels different. Less bulky. S shields remain.
  6. I really like the move to split the water park into two. The area by Kontiki was always a very awkward dead end and that should help improve traffic flow through the South End of the park.
  7. I haven't even seen both sides run at the Haunted Graveyard the past 3 years, and this year I went on Halloween itself.
  8. I wonder if anyone would be able to ride it for an hour straight. About 15 years ago, I was able to ride Lake Compounce's Zoomerang 7 or 8 times in a row. Now boomerangs are 1 and done for me, even the smoother ones.
  9. I'm glad the park decided to go all out on the repainting. I just can't wait to see what the new trains look like. In all honesty, I just want those oversized headrests gone.
  10. I personally like the purple since I'm a fan of bright, vibrant steel coasters.
  11. If only they still had Son of Beast... Guilt trip them by telling them you are going to mourn a great loss. And when I say a great loss, I mean it's great that Son of Beast closed. And when I say mourn, I mean ride Banshee all day and be thankful the park removed that wretched old coaster.
  12. Me too! I rode it in its glorious day and it was a smooth face-paced twisted ride that really got me thrilled. Now, it is a pain machine I want to skip badly. Anyone else has ridden it recently to corroborate (or not) with my opinion? Could not agree more on this. It is a very very fun ride either way. Although I miss a more family-oriented coaster @ SFMM (to me, old Colossus and Revolution filled this blank nicely in the pest), TC is thrilling and the green track is amazing. The odd, twisted, bumpy start also adds a lot to the fun. Now I am looking forward to riding other Rocky Mountain beauties... From all reported here, they seem to be doing magic with old wooden coasters such as Texas Giant, The Rattler, and so on. I am glad you are enjoying the report. Cheers to you all! When I rode Apocalypse in 2014, I thought the ride was bouncy but not rough by any means. I really enjoyed the ride's pacing. I'll be making a visit later this year, so it's a shame if the coaster has deteriorated that much.
  13. Amen to that. If these hills are anything like the ones on Wicked Cyclone, and going off of RMC's resume it should, the ride should be fantastic. I can't wait to see the first POV and offride video to see how the speed is maintained.
  14. The Orient Express at Fun World in New Hampshire. Having a coaster craving in New England during the winter doesn't leave you with many choices.
  15. I have been feeling coaster deprived during the winter season up here in New England. Today I was driving past Nashua and remembered that the Fun World indoor family entertainment center was there and they had a small coaster there. I decided to make a quick pit stop. The outside of the building looked a little run down, but the inside was quite nice. The arcade was huge! There were 3 levels of games including at least 10 pinball machines, sports games (including a bowling alley), shooting games, plus a lot more. They also had a multiple story slide and climb area that would be the dream of any kid. There also were three rides: a Wisdom Orient Express coaster, a small himalaya, and a double decker carousel. The Orient Express had a custom layout and was about your average kiddie coaster. There were some bumpy parts, but the drop seemed bigger than it was since the train was extremely close to the ceiling. The center gave 3 laps. I didn't ride anything else, but the himalaya looked like a Wisdom Rides version. Then the double decker carousel looked massive because of its location and how it spanned 2 stories. I noticed Fun World wasn't in the Park Index, so I grabbed photos of the complex's Orient Express kiddie coaster and the double decker carousel. Unfortunately I missed the himalaya. Enjoy! The Orient Express is your average kiddie coaster. The double decker carousel looks massive inside the complex. Check out that theming.
  16. I would want my park to have a family atmosphere something along the lines of Knoebels and Canobie, but I would make sure that the park is populated with several enjoyable attractions. Some rides that I would be sure to have: COASTERS - GCI twister like Gold Striker - Gravity Group "junior" out & back woodie like Wooden Warrior - Premier SkyRocket2 or custom Sky Rocket - Chance hyper GT-X - Enclosed coaster similar to Space Mountain (custom with tight turns, drops) - Roller skater or Tivoli family coaster FLATS - Larson/ARM drop tower - Indoor scrambler with a light show - Power Surge, Rock-o-Plane, or Zipper - Chance Unicoaster - Flying scooters (snappable of course) - Huss breakdance - Tilt-a-Whirl - Zamperla tea cups (I find the Zamperla ones spin the most easily) - Carousel with brass-ring (I'm an engineer & would make one myself if needed) WATER RIDES - Hopkins log flume through the woods - River rapids ride DARK RIDES - Shooting dark ride
  17. I'm bummed out I skipped Fun Spot during my visit. I planned to go after a day at Universal, but I had a fastpass later that night for Seven Dwarfs that I didn't want to miss out on. I'll make sure I get some spins on White Lightning during my next trip!
  18. What would you do with the other $799,920,000? Pay even more taxes. I would buy a house with a large enough backyard to build my own coaster or two. I would save the rest for park trips.
  19. Nothing matches the intensity of those Larson towers, including the massive Intamin ones on the sides of Kingka Ka and Superman. I rode the WWE one at Niagara Falls a few years ago. It was a super shot style tower. The launch was slower than S&S versions, but the pop of airtime at the top was a lot more forceful. It was more comparable to the smaller S&S double shot towers.
  20. I think the worst was riding the Peanuts Ghoster Coaster at Canada's Wonderland. That isn't bad in itself, but my dad bought the onride photo so I can never live it down.
  21. Some of my favorites are: Boulder Dash- I don't think there is a better night coaster. The main reason I go to Lake Compounce's Halloween event just so I can get night rides on Boulder Dash. The ride absolutely flies through the woods mixing air-time with powerful laterals. Millennium Force- The lift hill looks amazing at night and Millennium Island is pitch black. The only caveat is to not ride in the front seat unless you bring a face guard for the bugs. Intimidator 305- Very dark and the turns are nearly impossible to anticipate. You just need to let the ride take you. Apollo's Chariot & Nitro- Both B&M hypers have great settings through the woods with many big drops and lots of airtime.
  22. I agree. When I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain, Lex Luthor was only a 4 when it clearly intimidated the most guests. I think it does come from discomfort after riding. I haven't seen many people come off a drop tower sick while rides like frisbees seem to do the trick with the spinning and swinging simultaneously.
  23. Valravn looks amazing. I love the ride's placement linking the back half and front half of the park.
