  1. As long as the Intamins, Great Bear, and Lightning Racer are open you can get the best ones. Wildcat honestly is like Lightning Racer (in terms of layout and air time) if you remove the racing and add bumpiness.
  2. Definitely noted that I should pack Advil when I visit the park this weekend.
  3. Wildcat with the PTC trains was one of my favorites. The ride was aggressive, but it had lots of killer airtime. With the GCI trains, the ride is more rerideable (it's bumpy, not rough), but it doesn't feel as fast.
  4. That sucks. Instead of SFOG running half the train, they should shut down the ride for a few days for some repairs so they have time. I'm not complaining that it was open. Besides, no matter how few people it fits, the capacity will be greater than Dare Devil Dive. I thought the "60 minutes from this point" sign had to be a joke, but it wasn't. I literally had 40 people ahead of me.
  5. Yesterday was my first visit to the park yesterday and Superman was having a lot of restraint issues. One of the trains only had half the seats available in the front along with random other seats.
  6. They're definitely clearing out quite a bit of land by the bumper cars and next to Superman.
  7. I just had my first visit to the park yesterday and was very impressed. The park was immaculate and the operations were fantastic (2-3 trains on all coasters, fast dispatches). My only wish is that the park had more shade since it was almost 100 out. Onto the rides: Afterburn (4X, 9 out of 10)- I was really looking forward to this invert and wasn't disappointed. The ride's pacing was very good and I particularly loved the batwing. My one complaint with the ride was the final corkscrew, which gave a really strong jolt to the head. Other than that, the ride was perfectly smooth. Nighthawk (2X, 8 out of 10)- I'm glad I had a Fast Lane since this easily had the slowest moving line in the park. Some of the transitions from lying to flying were bumpy, but the intensity was higher than a B&M flyer. I'll still take a B&M flyer for its comfort, but Nighthawk had a better layout with the vertical loop and corkscrews. Ricochet (1X, 6 out of 10)- Pretty average mouse. I like the Mack models best. The first series of hairpin turns didn't have much braking, but they do slow the train down a bit before the second half. Fury 325 (11X, 10 out of 10)- Fury was amazing an my new number one since it had the intensity of an Intamin with the comfort of a B&M, whose hyper trains are the most comfortable seats out there. The ride is relentless from start to finish. The first drop goes on forever and I floated the entire way down, probably the best drop I've experienced. The first half's directional changes are crazy and I especially love the turnaround's dive, which created some unique lateral floating air. The second half's airtime hills gave some powerful sustained air time. I just wish this coaster was closer to me up north. Hurler (2X, 6 out of 10)- In the front seat, Hurler was pretty good. The ride was smooth other than the low turns and the bunny hills gave some small pops of air. The back seat was considerably bumpier and had less air. Carolina Cyclone (1X, 5 out of 10)- These Arrow trains seemed more cramped than usual. The first drop was great and the vertical loops were powerful, but the second half was quite uncomfortable during the corkscrew and helixes. Carolina Goldrusher (1X, 5 out of 10)- I really liked this mine train's layout. Not too wild, but the ride had some decent tunnels. The final transition before the brake run is a doozy though. Carolina Cobra (1X, 6 out of 10)- One of the better boomerangs I've been on thanks to the restraints. Vortex (2X, 3 out of 10)- I hate the B&M stand up seats. They're very uncomfortable and I wouldn't be upset if they all got Rougarou treatment. The loops had good forces, but these are just too painful on my legs. Intimidator (3X, 9 out of 10)- This one surprised me in a good way. I had heard "Intrimidator" didn't have much airtime due to the trims. While the trims did slow the vehicle at points, the ride still had a lot of good floating air time on every hill. Probably the worst of the B&M hypers I've ridden (Apollo, Nitro, Behemoth) due to the trims but still a good, fun ride. Flying Ace Aerial Chase (1X, 2 out of 10)- Ouch. This is barely better than it's big brother SLCs but this one has terrible transitions too. Woodstock Express (1X, 5 out of 10)- Good junior woodie with some tiny pops of air. The rapids ride was a letdown, as I came off dry on a 100 degree day. I loved Windseeker (amazing views) ane Drop Tower (great drop as usual from Intamin). The flyers (Woodstock Express) are very snappable and the operator encouraged riders to keep getting higher! I had my tub stall and drop at one point where people off ride feared for my life. The two dark rides were nice. Boo Blasters was a pretty average Sally dark ride but the AC was a standout. Plants vs. Zombies was much better than expected. I loved the competitive element and the combination of shooting and motion simulation. One final note. For anyone who plans to go to the park without a car, make sure you stay at the Comfort Inn on the park side. The "street" the park is located on is a 6 lane highway without a crosswalk. I found that out when I stayed at the Best Western and needed an Uber to cross the street.
  8. If this is part of a bigger move to convert that area of the park into a Marvel land, I am on board with this. If they don't have plans to go full Marvel, I would have preferred they kept the Twilight Zone theme. Even though it wasn't as good as Florida's, the tower and ride is still very immersive. The drops will provide the same great experience regardless of the theme and I know the new theming will be well done.
  9. Not at all. The park has plenty of bins and I recall seeing larger bags placed on the ground if they didn't fit.

  12. If you go on Superman during the last hour the park is open, they usually stop VR to clear the line out and the entire queue flies. The best time to ride Superman is at night anyway haha.
  13. I agree Darien's Boomerang is smooth. The ones at Lake Compounce and Great Escape are also very smooth. Flashback is good, but it's pretty redundant with Goliath there. I still do like Goliath and somehow don't find the ride uncomfortable, so hopefully they get it up and running quickly.
  14. Thanks for the help guys. That's a shame you can't wait for a particular seat on the big coasters, but I'm used to it from my home park (SFNE). I still can't believe the only ride with choice seating is the SLC...
  15. Do we know if Six Flags replaced the ride's original cables with Intamin ones?
  16. I'll be at the park for the first time in 2 weeks on a Saturday. It will be my first visit and I don't anticipate being back for a lpng time so I was planning on getting a Fast Lane. Some questions- 1) Should I buy the Fast Lane in advance in case they sell out or is that a low probability? I wanted to wait until 2-3 days before my visit to confirm the weather is good. 2) Does the Fast Lane merge into the station or am I given a pre-assigned row? 3) Are there any rides not on Fast Lane that I should hit early to avoid a bad wait later? 4) Do you have tips for the best seats on rides?
  17. Will you have a full day at Canobie? If so, I'd recommend riding the Mine of Lost Souls at night. The line can be almost an hour midday, but it usually dies down at night. The log flume's line dies down towards the end of the night as well. Midday it can be 30-45 minutes on a hot day. The Yankee Cannonball will have a pretty consistent 30 minute wait all day. The line may look small, but unfortunately it only has a one train operation and only seats 18 riders. While it's pretty small and has a meager top speed, the first few drops pack quite the punch in the back seat and have some good air-time. The ride is also very smooth despite its age. The station is too small to wait for seats, so the park counts off 18 riders and then it's a free-for-all for the seats. Try for the back car if possible. Untamed shouldn't have more than a 15-30 minute wait. It also has a single rider line if you're going alone or want to save time. Untamed can be rough during the turns and cutback inversion, so brace yourself. The epic first drop is more than worth it. As others have said, you should definitely check out the Psycho Drome indoor scrambler. You should also try to ride the Caterpillar (only one in the US that is still operating with its canopy), Star Blaster (small but powerful S&S double shot), the Turkish Twist (fastest rotor I've ever found, 33 RPMs), and the Wipeout (run much faster than the other versions of this ride that I've been on). The flyers (Rowdy Roosters) aren't snappable, but the cars do have good movement and come close to several trees.
  18. I'd love to see Hersheypark add in a new drop tower since they have to be the biggest thrill park in the country without one. Not to mention Hershey's strong relationship with Intamin. I think a Falcon's Fury style drop tower would be perfect, but that doesn't really fit in with the clues. I'm just hoping the troubles with Skyrush its opening year hasn't hurt Hershey's relationship with Intamin too much. I'd love to see a Falcon's Fury type ride and it would definitely be unique for the region.
  19. I think VR has a place at the park, but it shouldn't be on the park's marquee attraction. Of the park's rides, I think Batman may be the best candidate.
  20. I know it's a different manufacturer, but this ride reminded me a lot of that Cobra coaster that derailed 7 or 8 years ago in terms of the ride. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
  21. I was at the park yesterday and employees were saying Superman had a 2-2.5 hour wait pretty consistently. The line was back towards the S shield switchbacks. On our last ride, we heard them say that VR would be stopped at 9 pm, presumably to clear out the line. It appeared less than half of riders were using VR. I tried the VR twice. The first time, my screen froze in the cockpit and the ride was very nauseating since the headset scene wasn't moving with the coaster. I ended up closing my eyes and it wasn't a very pleasant experience. The second ride, my headset was working during the lift and then I saw a "Your Device is Overheating" message. I was able to hit ignore and the VR worked! The VR was cool, but I don't think I'd experience it again. The movement was very well synched with the coaster, but the headset was shifting on my head during the ride's crazy airtime. Typhoon almost always has an hour wait or so if the water park is even somewhat crowded. I had to skip it yesterday. I rode Bonzai Pipeline yesterday and it was about a 15-20 minute wait around 5 pm. The initial drop was quite the thrill, but the transitions between turns was a little uncomfortable (you could really feel where the slide pieces came together).
  22. I find them better than PTC lap bars. Those ones can be rough on my knees if I get stapled.
  23. While GCI lapbars limit airtime, at least they are comfortable.
  24. I'm just thankful they didn't put VR on the Comet since that's the only coaster in the park that is a people eater.
  25. Why didn't you like Gold Striker? I rode it and I would place it as my top wooden coaster 1) Gold Striker (CGA) 2) Mr. Twister (Elitch Gardens) 3) Grizzly (CGA) 4) Apocalypse (SFMM) 5) Pre-Refurb Ghostrider (KBF) Gold Striker is a very good coaster, but it's in the tier below my top wooden coasters. I'm more of a fan of out and back layouts (hill focused) than twisters, but Gold Striker does it's own thing very well.
