  1. Yes, a Golden Horse SLC version of Batman would be truly terrifying. The renders show what looks like a B&M inverted dive machine, but what if that's really a Golden Horse creation?
  2. The Roller Coaster (now Nickelodeon Streak) at Blackpool used to have no restraints as well until it got a train from the Big Dipper. I'd imagine Tig'rr's drop is similar to most flumes. The really scary ones are flumes with air time like the one at Seabreeze or Splash Mountain (Disneyland still has no restraints). I can only imagine what Ripsaw Falls was like before the lap bars.
  3. Canobie Lake Park Canobie Corkscrew- 5, 15, 0 Dragon Coaster- 5, 10, 5 Untamed- 10, 20, 5 Yankee Cannonball- 20, 30, 15 Six Flags New England Batman- 10, 15-30, 10-20 Bizarro- 30, 60-90, 45-60 Catwoman's Whip- 0, 5-10, 0 Flashback- 0, 10-20, 0 Goliath- 30-45, 45-60, 45 Great Chase- 0, 0, 0 Mind Eraser- 0, 15-45, 0 Pandemonium- 30, 60-90, 45-60 Thunderbolt- 20, 40, 20 Wicked Cyclone- 20, 45-60, 30-45
  4. I think Space Mountain at Disneyland would be a fun one. The ride doesn't have insane air-time, but those laterals would be even nastier.
  5. This does happen every so often and it annoys me when people complain about it. I've seen Space Mountain down a good portion of the day, and when it comes back up standby will be two hours and FP will be 30-40 minutes. My feeling is "well, first of all you should be happy that it re-opened and whatever problem it was having didn't mean it was down for the whole day, and at least you have a FP so your wait it line is still less then half of the stand-by, so QUIT YOUR BITCHING!!!!" But most idiot people don't see things this way... Exactly! Having worked a DL attraction with Fastpass (Splash), it was frustrating having to explain to guests that the purpose of Fastpass is simply to reduce your wait in line (which is how Disney phrases it to guests in publications, online, etc). No where in any of Disney's material does it say that a Fastpass is an automatic "skip the line" pass. Yes, I get that it sucks to still wait 30+ minutes even with a FP, but it's WAY better than waiting standby! And as long as you got on the ride in a shorter amount of time than what you would have waited in the standby line, then the FP still served its intended purpose! Space Mountain is still worth a 40 minute wait. I agree Fastpass is doing its purpose, but I think people feel like that little piece of paper is an entitlement to ride right away.
  6. I prefer Cedar Fair by far. Their parks are cleaner and are run better. In terms of rides, the two chains are fairly comparable. These are the Six Flags and Cedar Fair parks I've visited (ranked in order): Six Flags- Magic Mountain, Great Adventure, New England, Discovery Kingdom, Great Escape, America Cedar Fair- Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, Knott's Berry Farm, Canada's Wonderland, Dorney Park, Great America
  7. I have never puked on a ride before, but I usually start to feel queasy from swinging ships and the smaller Huss frisbees. The weirdest part is that I am perfectly fine on those swinging inverter ships (Zamperla hawks, Kamikazes, etc) or larger frisbees that seem to focus more on swinging (KMG & Huss Giant Frisbees). I have been puked on once. I was 7 or 8 at a town carnival riding a Ferris wheel when a shower of vomit came from above. A stupid teenager was eating ice cream and intentionally puking on people. My dad reamed him out afterwards.
  8. What's worse, the rain or the bugs at night?
  9. Great Bear. I was a little nervous going on it since it was taller than anything I had been on at that point but I loved it.
  10. 1) Medusa (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom)- Excellent drop, great pacing, good forces 2) Rougarou- Very forceful, unique elements for a floorless 3) Dominator- Just a hair less below Rougarou. Good layout. 4) Hydra- Love the drop. Lacks intensity, but good hang-time on elements. 5) Bizarro- Original, but rougher than the others 6) Scream- Worse setting than Bizarro 7) Batman the Dark Knight- not bad, but too short compared to the others
  11. Usually I prefer the front seat on B&M's inverting coasters, but Hydra is a notable exception. That first drop and the drop into the corkscrew are both really good in the back. I always prefer the front seat on launched coasters. There is nothing quite like feeling that acceleration right into your face. I much prefer the back seat on B&M hypers to any other seat for the sustained floater air on drops, but with other hypers or air-time filled coasters my favorite seat varies: Back Seat- El Toro, Cyclone (Coney Island), SkyRush, Wicked Cyclone, Phantom's Revenge, Ride of Steel, Steel Force Front Seat- Phoenix, Millennium Force, X2, Maverick, Bizarro Push- Boulder Dash & Intimidator 305
  12. The most intense B&Ms I've been on are Hulk, Flight Deck (CGA), and Batman the Ride. Any pretzel loop is their most intense element, but the rest of the flyers aren't too intense.
  13. 1) YouTube- Watch (mostly roller coaster and movies) and post videos 2) Facebook- Share videos, watch videos, click in/out of events, messaging 3) GroupMe- Group message friend groups/organizations
  14. Yankee Cannonball is the easy choice for me at Canobie. The first few drops give really good air-time in the back seat. Six Flags New England is a toughie. If you put a gun to my head, I'd pick Wicked Cyclone since where you sit doesn't have as big of an impact as Bizarro. The front on Bizarro is significantly better than every other seat.
  15. El Toro- Remove the clown car wrap. Boulder Dash- Retrack the triple up (it was really rough during Haunted Graveyard). Phoenix- Add a drop in the tunnel like Seabreeze's Jack Rabbit. SkyRush- Redesign the station to exit on the opposite side you load. Millennium Force- Add another small air-time hill during the straight section at the end.
  16. Shivering Timbers feels like Calvin Johnson, he needs help.
  17. Considering it was once a top 5 coaster and GCI's recent success with Gold Striker, they have the track record and the product to pull it off.
  18. I actually prefer Hollywood Studios to Epcot (slightly). Tower of Terror is my favorite ride at the resort, and both Toy Story and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster are up there as well. I also really like a majority of their shows. I can't imagine how much I'll like them after the expansion is completed. Animal Kingdom is my easily my least favorite park. I only spend a half day there when I go to Disney.
  19. Wood Cyclone (Coney Island)- I heard the ride was aggressive, so I was expecting rough. I rode in the back and the ride was smooth with insane ejector air on each hill. Roar (SF Discovery Kingdom)- I'm sure the Joker will be better, but the old version had good pacing, a great layout, and some nice air. Rolling Thunder (Left, SF Great America)- I rode the left side six straight times in a massive downpour and the ride was flying through the course. I got good air-time on the entire return leg. I returned the next day and rode the right side. It was screeching and crawling through the course. Rather than risk ruining my memory of the left side, I chose not to ride it again. Steel Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit- Ditto on the person who said the Rockit. The ride has some really good air-time on the drops and pulls some strong Gs. Space Mountain- It's one of the most ridden coasters in the world, but I rank it really highly on my list as well. All versions (except maybe Paris) are just pure fun. GateKeeper- It's not as relentless as the old school inverts, but the ride has some graceful and fun inversions plus a great setting.
  20. Large Parks- California's Great America- I had always heard that this was one of Cedar Fair's runts of the litter, but I loved the park. It was clean, the employees were efficient, and I really liked the ride selection. Flight Deck and Gold Striker are a great one-two punch and having an Intamin drop tower never hurts. Small Parks- Canobie Lake Park & Seabreeze- Canobie is my home park, so I definitely am biased, but I love the charm of the park. The park has a very good selection of flat rides and despite their height restriction, they have two good coasters in the Yankee Cannonball and Untamed. Plus the RCT style food stands are awesome. Then Seabreeze shocked me. I stopped there on the way to Canada's Wonderland and Darien Lake, and I actually preferred the park to Darien. The layout is really compact, but I just loved the old-time feel of the park and how they mixed in a lot of newer rides well.
  21. From the park's perspective, it's a good strategy since the theaters and simulators can be shifted out with a new video while the animatronics would be harder to find a use for if the ride were to close.
  22. Has the Comet been running rough? I've been there in 2000, 2007, and 2013 and always had a glass smooth ride on it.
  23. Six Flags New England has the best SLC I've been on...and I'd still take Catwoman's Whip over it. Those rides are awful, but what else is new.
  24. This. Just this. I actually enjoyed the short lived Equinox at Canobie and loved the ride's intensity. I didn't find it uncomfortable at all. The ride's tendency to be down was a major bummer though.
