Kolmården Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I keep thinking, maybe it's got to do with some kind of "mountain coaster"-like set up. Which can provide long stretches, big corners, into tunnels (of fire?) and so on. All around the park itself, and including a tall mountainous start to it all. Another idee from mee! -

Shanghai Disney Resort Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to Dr Freeze's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm hoping they don't put in too many wink-wink nudge-nudges by Capt.Sparrow and make the (probable) screen appearances kind of wasted. Although they did add the AA's to the ride, I was actually surprised "He" didn't pop up more often, and Jones in the mist-screen only once, the other Capt. Barbossa's only appearance on the full rig ship.... not a lot, I found out. And it still worked out fine. Except that reverse chase (woman with broom after the older pirate?) was fun and a true cinematic 'joke' that was enjoyed by me and still is, in the Paris' version. So, it would be nice if Shanghai version did a mix of everything Disney does so awesomely, even 2D stuff, to holographs, and "mapping", and AA's that "walk" (where are you Ben Franklin? He's still at EPCOT, you idiot!), making it a really amazingly spectacular (what I called it after our first ride in 1975... LIVE "Gone With Wind style") an EPIC "Must See Attraction" to anybody around the world who appreciates Disney's way with an attraction. My five cents' hopes and stuff. And now they have AAs that are remote "free roaming" like the good Dr. here and Lucky the Dinosaur. Do these have a place in SDL's PoTC, too? -
In regards to same colors as the pirate ship...maybe these two are linked into a newly themed area. Not yet announced by the park, at this time? Just a guess. I just hope they keep up the maintenance on T2. It was my very first SLC back in May 1995, and actually I believe at the time, the first two-seat-across SLC in North America! My first SLC love - not my only one now, thanks to Kumali in FlamingoLand, Black Mamba in PhantasiaLand... But still, T2 was my first.

Heide Park Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to Sebbe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think there were two spots in the video, I was certain were "the end" of the ride's cycle. But not to be! Totally surprised by that. A much longer ride than I expected. Good use of space, Heide Park! -

There isn't one big enough. Even Godzilla failed. (I got all but two coasters in 2007; got those in 2011) -

It's the "Washing Machine Element" that was 'supposed' to be used in The Smiler! -

^ Unfortunately, now that Takabisha has been open since 2011, I have this awful awful feeling, there's going to be another one built, soon. And then of course, we have to go for the unique coaster it's bound to be, and for the credit.... who knows? Maybe it'll be a good visit? -

^^^ omgomgomgomg It's....it's... Son of Euro Mir! Will buy - must buy - I hope they release an in-park CD for sale there. They better. Instant classic park/coaster music. (EDIT To add: I bought the Euro Mir Mix cd in Europa, back on the 2008 TPR Tour!) -

This is true, especially of Fuji-Q. But I/we found the same thing, even in the huge Disney Resort. Massive crowds, all moving along, but still pretty HUGE if you haven't been though many, like myself. For both parks too. But everybody held it together, and moved along in a usually quiet, orderly fashion. And even smiling at us TPR visitors, very happy we came to "their parks" from far away. Somewhat freeky at times to me, but that's their culture, so I went with it. -

^ Unfortunately, we TPR visitors are in the minority who visit this park. The locals put up with it, year after year after year. So, even if we're not happy with how bad operations get, our criticism is minimal. And if the locals don't complain about all this... well... Fuji-Q marches on...... slowly. -

You can't win with Fuji-Q. I and others had been somewhat lucky in both 2011 and last summer, but that was totally due to how Robb and Elissa got us there, took care of the fast (ha) passes, and such. The first TPR Tour visit in 2007 was the real headache for us. And I hope (knock wood) we never repeat that. Thanks for sharing your "experience". Now go and enjoy the rest of Japan! Have a great tour! -

Mmmmmm EPIC Dinner Theater!!! Actually, I am sure the space needed to pull off an awesome PoTC is not lost on the Imagineers, and the whole building may not be shown, to the right of the concept artwork. And of course, if it's anything like the car stunt shows at Paris and Florida, to cover an entire arena up is still something to do, these days. This is a visit to take, simple. -
Not worth a comment.

Why do people like interactive dark rides?
Nrthwnd replied to Dr. M's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think that the original Disneyland "Indiana Jones" (1995) is the ultimate in a dark ride. And then there's "Journey to The Center of the Earth" in Disney Sea. Another ultimate dark ride. With the smaller dark rides now, it just seems to make more sense to outfit them with targets and such, and make it a (traveling) set of carnival games in different themes. Hey - I just went after Santa with a ray gun, in China. How cool is that? -

I really miss this park. As much as I miss Europa, I do miss this one, too. There are truly some very unique, and actually good, attractions for just one park. The Winjas, Mystery Castle, River Quest, Colorado Adventure (w/ you-know-who).. They're all very unique attractions which I totally enjoyed the two times i have visited. Thanks for sharing your recent visit. It was a great video to watch. And I loved the timing with the water jets and the swings! Had never seen that happen, myself. Very cool! Literally, LOL! -
