  1. Thanks for your review of the attraction, Robb. From what you posted, I get the feeling that Universal is trying to do something that Disney liked to do with his large scale attractions. That is.... Have a lot going on, so you have to come back and see more of it. Repeat rides. But I think Universal has done a kind of reverse on this. With the coaster going so fast at key points to actually see specific stuff, they figure you'll probably come back to actually see what's there, now that you know (roughly) where everything is, etc. It shouldn't be that way, especially if some people go on it, and they only have one chance to ride it (one-day touring schedules). My 5 cents.
  2. Ooooh Elissa, are you ready for this? ShanghaiDL just announced a big "Summer Splash" event through the summer, with decorations, souvenirs, food... ...and you-know-who on stuff, as well as everybody else from Toy Story 4! Including Forky! It all starts on Friday!
  3. Damn, I have to wait three more years to ride this awesome-looking/videoing ride. Grrrrrr. But patient.
  4. And, because it's Pride Month, here's the stuff about "Out At The Fair Day" in late August! ~ Out at the Fair Day - Thursday, August 29, 11am - Late ~ https://www.pne.ca/ways-to-save/ Myself with last year's socks. Wonder if there's a new version this year? Hope so. The rainbow socks will, I assume, maintain their "rainbow design", heh. (o;
  5. Sunny and clear skies today. I love it!
  6. ^ That's cool, I forgive you for the s'mores. And that looks like quite the burger balancing act, heh. Nice plate, too. (And the top of that bun, reminds me of the top of a pumpkin! Wierd.)
  7. ^ #LuckWished. I came out to my parents in 1971 and it wasn't a pleasant coming out. But I wasn't written off (or threatened) by them, so that I am thankful for. Hope it works out for you, everybody included, including your grandparents.
  8. That "guy" on the back of it, just looks too cool, LOL! Very fun to watch.
  9. ^ Do any of you guys actually keep the cans as a souvenir 'reminder' of what you've....uh....drunk? And I do see a number of regular TPRers here, aquainting them self with various beers, etc. Just curious of me. And I'd probably do it, if I had a beer that often. But I don't.
  10. ^ Glad you enjoyed "TROY!" (how does that music in the station go, again?). It's always been one of my favourite wooden coasters world-wide. I remember riding it almost 12 times waaay back in the TPR 2008 Europe Tour. Would have ridden it more, but after ten+ times on any coaster I seem to start getting a headache. Life happens.
  11. I'm pretty sure this is the after hours event I'd want to attend, if I had a choice of them. Great coverage of it, thanks!
  12. Just found out, the four night Playland Nights in July, open to Adults Only, have a VIP Ticket Pkg. available...that I might get myself. And to get this VIP Ticket, you choose which themed night you buy it for. Yep, the four nights are being themed, all quite different from each other. Go to https://www.pne.ca/playland-nights/ and find out more about it. EDIT TO ADD: By the way, they're advertising this VIP ticket allowing "FastPass type access" on you guessed it, the Sea-to-Sky Swinger. So, I hope they get their act together, and get this thing running. Continually. They've got a month to do it. EDIT to my previous EDIT: I broke down and just bought my NEON PARTY Playland Night ticket for July 5th! Surely, I have something(s) to wear that glows under black light? Here's hoping. Neon Party ~ Graffiti Night ~ Party Hats ~ Mystics & Magic Nights...one theme each Friday night. (o: Mmmmm Lust. My ticket to Playland Nights - NEON
  13. Here's some new artwork I discovered just today. It's on the side of a house, that I pass on my way to the bus stop, to get to Playland, if I can't use our car. I liked it. Enough to post it, here. How it looks on the side of the house. A bit closer.
  14. "After The TONYS..." Well, to be honest, by the time "Hadestown" won it's 7th TONY award, I was ready for "The Prom" to be the spoiler for Best Musical, LOL! Not to be. The musical underworld took The Big One at the end of the broadcast. Total of 8 wins, out of 14 nominations. Glad Stephanie J. Block won for being Cher, and Santino Fontana won for being Dorothy/Tootsie. A perfect pairing of musical winners. The play "The Ferryman" got a several TONYs including Best Play. And all the writers were onstage separately, to explain their creations in "less than a minute", which made for interesting off-script commentary. Which was great to me. Hope they do that again next year. I still don't have all the cast cds to compare what I hear. Sadly, I think "Beetlejuice" and "The Prom" got shut out totally. They can join "Pretty Woman," because PW:TM never had a chance to win, as it was already shut out, in all the nominations. Go figure, hmm? We enjoyed the night. Certainly more fun than what we're seen on any other awards show. And yes - as pointed out in the brilliant opening # by James Corden - it was ALL LIVE! Can't wait to get this! And Oklahoma! And Tootsie! Eventually!
  15. Yup. Yeah, at this point in time, if it isn't running, I'm not mentioning it again. Listening to awesome off-Brdwy version of what's now on Broadway! But sadly, no Best Musical TONY nomination. Great score. Truth! (o: Happy TONYs Night!!!
  16. Saw this on the way to Playland earlier today. Definitely reminded me of Pride Month, this month. And it also reminded me of past work in the community being rewarded, very unexpectedly. We had no idea this was happening for us. It was a real honour to be honoured like this, lol. Happy Pride Month Everybody! I want to go back there and see what they've done with it, further! 1981 - they spelled David's last name, wrong! No first 'e' there. Just "Myers". Oh well, we were still thrilled!
  17. ...and By The Way....before the TONYs actually get started later on....go watch this great little special about what's coming up...you get some new quotes from all the actors interviewed for it... https://www.broadway.com/videos/159400/watch-broadwaycom-presents-at-the-tonys-with-imogen-lloyd-webber/ A great look at all the nominees in Plays and Musicals. And just because...here's all the musicals I performed in, back in the 1970's at Theatre In The Park...or TUTS as it's now known by (Theatre Under The Stars). Go Musicals! Everybody in casts, write their parts up on walls, downstairs under The Malkin Bowl. (o; 1977 as Riff in West Side Story, was my last show there.
  18. Happy Italian Day! and other weekend stuff... Today is when our main shopping street (Commercial Drive), which is two blocks away from us, becomes a No-Cars Zone for several blocks. Italian Day runs from noon to 8. We keep Stella inside, since parking in the area is at a premium so people are driving (and walking) around everywhere. And on this day I usually go to Playland. Away from the crowds, ending up at (today) a really nice day there, with not as many people as yesterday. Sweet! That gave me the chance to get three rides on Coaster. Which was enough. And just to be casual around the place, without feeling crowded in. And yesterday, I finally got my Ice Ball Tickets' prize. Cost me 400 tickets, but what the heck. It's Playland! And Woo Hoo!, they finally marked that capsule machine as "Out of Order." I feel better about that. Here's the pix from both days' visits.... SATURDAY: Purple train today. Very crowded, looking back from the station. What's this? What's this? Middle red car is now "purple-ized." Birthday Unicorns. "Arrrrrrrrr I's pretty in pink, mateys!" A burb. Rich people live up there on the hill. British Properties it's called. "Money, money money...." The deal with this Arcade is... the private operator of it, ended his contract with the PNE, and didn't renew it. So, there's an empty building waiting.....darkridedarkride...... for something..... darkridedarkride. (o; Home with my new Ice Balls prize... Baby T-Rex! And dollar popcorn, of course. And Saturday ends here. SUNDAY: On the way to my bus stop, I saw this in an alley. HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! by the way. (o: An actual Italian food store, Bosa Foods, is off The Drive, but that doesn't stop them from setting up their own booth, etc. Great! Art. Nice Art. What's also happening this weekend. Which is why they don't run one any more at the PNE. And have the open drinking policy in two separate areas, Fairgrounds & Playland itself, at The Fair now. Progre$$. But if you still want a "Craft Beer Fest", this one's ending today! Not that crowded, from first look. And look who's finally running! KC's on the move. BC Beer Festival, up thataways. Finally. No thank you!
  19. ^ And I am hoping that one of you (or more) who went to CoasterMANIA! will post a TR on the day, and how it all went. Thanks in advance!
  20. ^ Well, if that's so, I was close.
  21. Busy BUSY day today at the park. Real busy. I mean, even a long line at the West Coast Wheel which isn't very often. I'm going back tomorrow, while our Italian Day is happening on The Drive (where we live two blocks away from) and hope the crowds are a lot lighter. They should all be on Commercial Drive, lol. Coaster was a 30-40 minute wait, today. Long waits all over, and several flats were still down... But I did manage to finally get my Baby T-Rex today, with my total of Ice Ball tickets win!
  22. Coaster at Playland(PNE). Only once, darnit. So crowded today, I got just one ride in. Maybe tomorrow will be less crowded. Maybe. EDIT: The next day was muuuuch better. Got three rides in. Could've done more, but no big rush to marathon it. Looking back from Coaster's station.
