SOLAR ECLIPSE! I've never seen one before and I guess this one was pretty special... it was kinda anticlimactic for me because I was expecting everything to go dark when the moon covered the sun. If I didn't have the special viewing glasses, I don't know if I would have noticed anything different. What I did notice: --The shadows were really weird and distored --Everything had an odd light... like a yellowy light. Kinda creepy --I couldn't even look in the general direction of the sun while it was happening. It really hurt. --When I did see the eclipse, all I could say was, "One ring to rule them all!!" Here's a pic my sister took by putting the special glasses in front of her camera.

^I actually really like that. The first time I rode X2 I thought the whispering was sooo cool. And it totally pumped me up. But I could see why it would get annoying after hearing it many times.

I think I could settle with a husband who didn't like coasters, as long as he understood that I'm going to go off and ride coasters every chance I get, with or without him... and I'm going to jabber incessantly when something exciting in the industry happens... and he just has to deal with it. Although this... Is really sweet. Made me smile.

I noted that too. I'm wondering if that's why SFDK was considering Canada... if sending her there for a time allowed them more leniency so they could get her back easier. Pun intended?

Found this too. It's a guy who visited in '08 and wrote APHIS about the violations he saw. It is very sad that SFDK doesn't take better care with this (I've noticed the grimy water a few times too). Grimy water and unshaded pools should be a fairly easy fix, I'd believe. I don't know why SFDK wouldn't correct that. I can understand that Shouka not having a companion is a more complicated issue but Merlin and Shouka did well together for 7 years according to what I've read... I even heard there was a UC Davis group of students who were studying Shouka's and Merlin's relationship. I don't know why there was a "compatibility issue," but couldn't SFDK find another dolphin to accompany Shouka until a better solution was forged? Like I said... if they were to move her, I'd hope it would be so they could expand the tank, or do some important tweaks on it to make it more livable for her. I don't know why they would want to move her for good.

There are always animal rights activists demanding this or that for captive marine mammals, but most of the time the activists get ignored. Could it be possible they're arranging to move her for a time to breed her with another orca then move her and the baby back? My personal biases aside...If they were seriously planning to get rid of her forever, it would prove costly. I can't see anything they do with that stadium equalling the popularity of the Shouka show. I do agree that Shouka should have a companion, but why take her away as the solution? There just has to be another way, or at least another side of this that we're not seeing.

^Oh HELLLLLLL NO. THEY BETTER NOT. There has to be a mistake here. Why would SFDK want to get rid of Shouka? The whales have been a top attraction to the park since before it was even in Vallejo! Shouka stadium is always PACKED with people... not to mention all of the extras they sell because of her (whale paintings, whale stuffed animals, trainer-for-a-day upcharge stuff, etc.) I will be beyond PISSED and hurt and upset if they really did this! This seriously makes me want to cry. I've been to the park every year of my life since I was three and seen the whale show with ONE exception: the year Vigga died. I went the year after that and there was some stupid stupid stupid diving show and everyone hated it and missed the whales! Families LOVE SFDK and do you think it's because of the rides? Not at all! It's the whales and dolphins and all the other animals, and the rides are an added bonus! WHY would they want to get rid of Shouka?!?!? This park will always hold a special place in my heart, but if they get rid of her, I'm going to be very pissed for a long long time. IF they moved her, it had better be to build a brand new multi-plex whale stadium with plans to get 2 more whales! Two things I don't understand about this article.... why does it say June 1, 2012? What does this mean? Shouka wasn't for breeding purposes because there were no other whales at the time. She was a replacement for Vigga who died in '01. Later on I heard discussion of wanting to artificially inseminate Shouka so she could have a companion, but for many reasons that didn't happen. I hope this article is a mistake or some sick joke. This really upsets me.

Just wanted to say... Behemoth looks sexy. I would totally mate with it. (okay not really, but I love that photo with the reflection of it in the lake). That Riptide photo is hilarious... poor kid looks like he’s gasping for air! xD I love that section of Wodan going over the water ride. The blue of the pools and the water ride is a really great contrast to the coaster!

On SFDK Facebook: Person 1: Person 2: Person 1: Not being tied down to your seat =/= falling completely out. Plus, why would any park spend millions of dollars installing a coaster that had the potential for people to fall out?
