  1. Awesome TR! You have some great pictures! I visited this park in '09 and I agree that their attention to detail is really cool. I was underwhelmed with the food (I ate in the German area) but could be because I'm vegetarian and 98% of the food was designed for meat-lovers.
  2. Yes, when I was 5 I chickened out on Haunted Mansion after waiting in line for like an hour with my family. Do you put yours hands up on drop rides?
  3. Me too! Saturday: SFDK Sunday: CGA for the first time since '06 and my second time ever! Might take a trip to SCBB and Gilroy Gardens this weekend as well! My first time ever at those parks!
  4. Have fun everyone! Guess I'll have to avoid this thread now to keep with my goal of no spoilers before I ride. If any Saturday-goers would like to meet up, just PM me!
  5. Yes, but not a coaster. Lost my cell phone on a fair ride; got it back broken. Have you ever been with someone on a coaster when they lost something?
  6. He doesn't want to tell her the real reason the police are looking for him, that's why he said it.
  7. Me too! Maybe even earlier! Maybe I'll see you? Any other Saturday-goers? Do you think this will be open when the park opens on Saturday, or later in the day?
  8. It looks beautiful! I like how the Superman sign is lighted up! Will be cool to see the lights/effects in the tunnel! This will be SFDK's first official themed coaster! Unless you count the queue/station of Medusa as theming...
  9. Yes. Do you smoke?
  10. FYI I wasn't trying to insinuate that not having a dual loading station was because they're trying to save money for future attractions, I was trying to make a point that there are many other possible reasons that many of us may not have thought about. The saving time/money applies more to SFMM and LL:DOD in this case.
  11. Was watching the live online stream for ABC's "The Glass House" out of curiosity and all I could think of was... voyeurism. I felt a little dirty just watching it even though it's supposedly "family friendly." Think I'm going to stick with the TV episodes from now on. This s*** is bananas.
  12. No, I don't live within walking distance of anything. Do you have pet fish?
  13. It says "Six Flags Magic Mountain Season Pass Holders" but then it allows you to choose which park you hold a pass for. Is this just for SFMM pass holders or anyone with a Six Flags season pass?
  14. @vacoaster09: I agree with a lot of what you said, some of these moves don't make a lot of sense to us, but I think Double0Kevin's point trumps yours... we don't know what goes on behind the scenes, and there's probably a lot more to it than just what we're seeing. With LL:DOD... I'm certainly not an engineer but I'd think the Superman tower would be a lot more stable at that height than a standalone. Plus, they obviously have some big plans for the future, so maybe SFMM decided to go the cheaper route to save funds for their 2013 project. Maybe SFDK is doing the same by not having a transfer track? I have a feeling both parks have something big up their sleeves for the next few years that may be more important than this year's additions.
  15. I agree! It looks like a beautiful park with a good variety of coasters. Great TR! And I too approve of the thread name change!
  16. ^I agree with your review of it. I thought the premise was really good and the ending twist was haunting and depressing but that "evangelical lady" was obnoxious and the rest of the movie (and characters) pretty much fell flat. Speaking of Stephen King... I saw a recent post on Facebook that said they're going to make a new movie version of "IT" [rather than a mini-series]. I know a lot of people love the movie, but coming from someone who read the book, I just didn't feel the movie captured the story or the characters the way it could have. I realize it'd be really hard to make a 1.5-2 hour movie on par with a 1,000 page book, but I think the movie could be a lot better than it was. Most likely the new version would be more disappointing, but we'll see. Thoughts? Down here we all float....
  17. Chills... I has them. Love the dramatic music in that video! The ending is epic.
  18. I agree! It was definitely a challenge and very interesting! Even though I saw two mirage duckies... the mirage duckies put me closer to the actual number of duckies! There were several red-flag pictures that said, "You're probably missing a ducky here!" and the Keanesburg sign pic, the Gravitron, and Moby Dick ride were three such pictures but I looked and relooked and the ducky still eluded me! No one invited a friend on Friday but it definitely would have helped in this situation! Big Mike always knows best!
  19. Great TR! I do like all of your details! And I'm so jealous that you have a friend who goes with you on epic road trips to visit coasters. I need to find a friend like that and then I need to road trip over to this park. I love your pics of I-305. I'm seriously salivating over this coaster. What a great coaster for #100!! I haven't hit 100 yet, but when I do, I want it to be something awesome!!
  20. Great video TR! I've seen a lot of really boring, long videos but I can say this definitely was not one of those. You put together the footage very nicely and it was very entertaining and great to see a little of two parks I've never visited. "The highlight was that it was my 400th coaster... and the lowlight was that it was Stinger." Congrats on 400!
  21. I think it depends too on how long you're planning to visit the coaster from the time it opens. I'm planning to visit on the 30th and others will ride it on the 28th or 29th, so I just have to avoid this thread for two days... if it were like a month, it'd be too hard to worry about. Besides... I think some of the lure of going opening weekend is to be a little surprised about what part of the coaster is the best.
  22. ^I disagree. I spent a lot of time questioning if that thing on the airplane was a duck, and I came to the conclusion that it was. If you look at the other planes, there are handlebars for the guns but that's it. Therefore I thought the extra "blob" must be a duck. I agree that he missed Himalaya duck. ^I do not think there is a duck in this picture. I missed the duckies on the Keansburg sign, Gravitron, and Moby Dick ride and now see they look like ducks. However, I think this is a very tricky duck here: Under the back bell on the pink boat, you have to zoom in on the original picture to see what I'm talking about but there's a weird "blob" there and based on the yellow reflection in the bell, I surmised that it must be a duck. I was so unsure about this I looked up pictures of this ride on the internet, and it doesn't appear that anything would be beneath the bell besides a possible duck.
  23. I know, but it's still hard to formulate your own solid opinion when clouded by the opinions of others. If everyone was like, "It's crap" then I'd be waiting in line for hours going, "I'm waiting hours for something that is potential crap... " This is the only thing that confuses me. If they're all set to open next weekend, why aren't they publicizing it yet? I've never followed a ride opening this closely so maybe this is normal and I've just never noticed. *shrug*
  24. ^^^OMG makes my heart pound and my palms sweat just watching it. Honestly it's the few seconds of wait at the top that's WAYYYY worse than the drop itself. Just the anticipation knowing what's going to happen in a few seconds but not knowing when... oh my, I love it!
  25. For my personal scheduling reasons, I hope so. I kind of have a feeling they're expecting it to take longer because they still haven't announced a date to the GP. I'm not really sure what still needs to happen except additional testing. Anyone know? But it'll open when it opens and this just keeps the anticipation strong. I'm still really grateful for this coaster and I'm going to do whatever I can to get there within a day or two of it opening. I've also resolved not to read any reviews or TRs about it until I get a chance to try it for myself. Want to formulate my own opinion about it before I read others' opinions.
