Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would check the official Cedar Point site and socials first. It will take us a little time to post the info properly once it's released. And like I said, we aren't in a race to get it up first, we just want a good post that will give everyone here the information in one easily place to read it. I always appreciate how organized your guys' reports of the announcements are. There are links to everything from the front page as well as links on the threads themselves, and everything is summarized nicely with the released photos and videos. So many of the smaller announcements would fly under the radar for me if it weren't for that, or I just wouldn't have the patience to go search for everything. I'd rather wait a few hours to see the nice organized reports on TPR than have to sift through a bunch of hurried snippets from people who want to be "first" to post. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Any specific questions? I went about 4-5 times last year and had a blast! Ape is right about it being crowded, but I found the mazes didn't have as long of waits as the coasters, all of which are awesome at night! It would be really tough to do everything in one night. I've been to a handful of Halloween events, and I'd put KI Haunt as my favorite after Knott's and Horror Nights, which we all know are industry bests. If you have the chance to go, definitely go! -

Probably last week, a Cup o Noodle. My boyfriend likes to eat top ramen all the time, though. When was the last time you received a pay promotion? -
This? And this? And this. Although, 12 years later there are only a handful of video game-themed rides compared to the many movie-themed rides. I don't play video games but I've seen most of the movies that have rides based on them. I suppose movie rides appeal more to a range of public than video game rides.

Dang, why all the SFNE and CGA hate? (I haven't been to any of the others). SFNE has two amazing coasters and...well...some other stuff to thin out the waits for those two coasters. CGA has been improving, so it's becoming... a polished sh*thole? Neither seem nearly as bad as your report from La Ronde!

Last Tuesday we went to see Dark Tower. We were disappointed with it though. When was the last time you watched an entire TV series from start to finale? -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I visited the park yesterday evening and we were pleased to find it not too busy. Mystic (and probably FoF) had the longest lines, about 30-40 min, Banshee and others were 5 minute waits, at most. We still LOVE Mystic more at night and of course... Beast at night! I had a few questions pop into my head though. First, I thought I remembered management at Coasterstock mentioning there would be mazes going away and new mazes added this year. However, it looks like this website just lists the same ones from last year. I'm not sure if this is in the incorrect site or if they haven't announced the mazes for Haunt yet, although I saw someone mentioned Cedar Point did. If they haven't, does anyone know when they usually announce these things? Being there yesterday made me very excited for Haunt. Second, we'll find out in 4 days anyway, but any chances we see a new ride next year? Third, we were discussing the shed and the songs in the shed, and we agreed that three of the songs were "Maneater," "Total Eclipse of the Heart," and "Cars." From Googling we jogged my memory that the 4th song we've heard is "Can't Take My Eyes off of You." However, this was the version people linked on another site, but it doesn't seem correct from what we remembered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuvPvUmEzoE Does anyone know what version exactly they play in the shed or at least what portion of the song is played? -
RMC tracks have those bolts on both sides of the rail but the wheels only touch the centre It's funny you have a fish as an avatar. Cause you swallowed that bait hook, line & sinker! Guy "Mission Accomplished!" Koepp The best double post. Winning.

I just realized both Flight of Fears are milestones for you. Did that happen by accident or did you plan it that way? -

1 - Not sure, but my first big coaster was Medusa, SFDK 50 - Big Bad Wolf, BGW 100 - Kingda Ka, SFGAdv 150 - Storm Runner, Hersheypark 200 - I305, KD 250 - I'm 13 away, so we shall see! No more new parks/coasters planned for this year, but maybe SFOT/SFFT and SDC for next year? -

^I see what you did there For some reason the Haunt link isn't working for me, so I can't tell which are supposed to be scare zones vs. mazes, but if Eden MuseƩ is going away, maybe Harvest Fear is going in the building where that was? As long as it's still accessible with Mean Streak construction, which may be completed by Haunt, who knows. We actually liked Eden MuseƩ and thought it was one of the better Haunts, but I am not sad at all that Eternity Infirmary is going away. -
Top 5 Faves (in no particular order): 1) Cedar Point - Beautiful location, world-class coasters. 2) Knoebels - Just an all out good time. There's really nothing bad to say about this park. 3) Hersheypark - Has my #1 steel and other great rides. 4) Dollywood - Every coaster here is great, beautiful park, great shows, great cinnamon bread. 5) Kings Island - During Haunt, you can't go wrong at KI. Honorable Mentions: Holiday World, BGT 5 Desired (in no particular order): 1) SFFT - First Raptor and iRat. 2) SFOT - I have a good friend who lives closer to SFOT. Also, NTaG. Goals for next year. 2) SDC - Outlaw Run. I really like RMCs and want to try them all. Also goals for this year or next. 3) Europa Park - I reallyyy want to visit Germany and this park is one major reason. Won't happen any time soon. 4) Tokyo DisneySea - Everyone gushes about this park and it looks awesome. Just in general I want to get out of the US and visit international theme parks. I'm running out of what I would call "destination" parks in the US that I really want to go to, so it's about time I get out of here.

Congrats macman820! Will you share with us your winning submission? -
No it wasn't. We were there yesterday and saw it running, but never made it onto it. Yesterday was my first time ever at the park, and I was pleasantly surprised with it. I went in with extremely low expectations and thought the park was a lot nicer than people reported it to be. It's my 7th Six Flags park. A few comments: Ninja: never again. It hurt my neck so bad that I had a headache for a long time after riding it. Boss: we rode in the back for 6 rides and I don't know what you all are saying with it being too rough. It certainly wasn't smooth but we enjoyed ourselves. My biggest complaint with the ride is the slow bits around some of the curves that really kill the pacing. I'm also not a huge fan of the super long helix at the end. I'd still say it's my favorite coaster in the park with Mr. Freeze being another close favorite. I do feel this park really needs a marquee coaster as it's been a while since they got any new coasters and almost all the other Six Flags parks have RMCs and/or Blow-you-away Intamins. Speaking of the food, we had a dining pass and when it started pouring rain at 6pm, we went to get food at one of two places that specifically sold vegetarian burgers on the dining pass. It was closed, so we ran through the rain to go to another place that had them, just to find that closed as well. The park closes at 8 and dining pass is supposed to go to 7:30, but they close two major food locations at 6? Not to mention two that offered vegetarian alternatives. I'll post a few of my photos but not all since everyone should check out Robb's superior photos. Rainbow after the heavens poured out Ended the night here, a very smooth (and somewhat boring) coaster after riding Boss so many times! This is his favorite and now I love it too! (Though not quite as much). Helix helix helix helix helix helix airtime brakes! NEVER AGAIN This was really fun!

We stayed at that Magnusson. They made it look nice in the pictures and I guess I just jumped on the lower price since we were booking super last minute. Never again. Room smelled like pee and God knows what else. Dirty floors. Bed was hard and stained. Rooms that faced outside (which I hate) when there was a bikers convention so people out super late. Not to mention the landing felt like it was about to cave in. Basically nothing good about the place. We have yet to find that one hotel that we like in the area. -
Unfortunately, my excitement for this RMC pales in comparison to my excitement for Mean Streak, but seeing recent photos I did get the impression that this would feature an inverted drop, or at least a very steep but short drop, with the potential for great airtime over the top. Storm Chaser absolutely blew us away as well, so I will withhold judgement of these smaller RMCs until I actually ride them. Also, of the 6 I've been on, Joker may have my favorite drop (with Storm Chaser another great contender), albeit having one of the smaller drops.

Love the report! We were there on opening day this year and finally got on LR as well! I'm so pleased to hear your great esteem of it because we loved it too. Can't wait until we can visit again. Never did quite get a night ride on it, but that's the goal! Also, I know I'm a HUGE SFDK fan and probably rank Joker higher than anyone else, but I'm excited to hear your opinions whenever you do get on it! It's not Lightning Rod but it's still a great ride. Enjoy your trip. -

I finally got to visit this park recently and LOVED Fury as well! Afterburn was definitely the surprise of my trip, those back row rides are super intense and amazing! Looks like your trip is kicking off with a ton of fun and great coasters. Love the updates! -

I would love to see some photos of it after the refurbishment. I'm a little disappointed that I'll never get to ride it in its original form, but it still sounds like it's super intense. From RCDB: Sounds like the launch will be even more intense than it was, which already sounded insane.
